Chapter 1354: Chapter 458: The First Descent

As the black-robed figures surrounded Prince Sedlin and continued to move forward, the leading black-robed elder nodded to the other two black-robed elders, who quickly understood and turned to leave immediately.

The leading black-robed elder then looked ahead, revealing a faintly meaningful smile.

Not far ahead was a gigantic tree resembling a banyan, with a green semi-circular canopy, towering several hundred meters high. This was the elf clan’s mother tree, Andaril.

At this moment, as they drew closer, the massive size of the tree could be felt, yet the green vortex shield at the top of the several hundred-meter-tall giant tree had noticeably faded and thinned significantly.

Evidently, this was due to the destruction of two crystalline towers, which greatly reduced the energy supply to the crystal barrier.

However, the elder’s gaze wasn’t focused on the elf mother tree; it went beyond the mother tree and the green vortex shield, reaching into the depths of the sky.

In the faraway sky, a faint golden glimmer could be seen flashing.

....

Meanwhile.

In the secret chamber of the warehouse at the Valziger Ruins.

Renn saw the large furnace core, a precision energy device the size of a millstone, with complex metal pipes of varying sizes on the surface, resembling an engine magnified five or six times.

As Moriah fiddled with it for a moment, he shook his head with a frown and sighed, saying:

”No, it can’t be started at all, but I brought a Molten Lava Heart, though it can only serve as the primer for a medium-sized furnace core. I’ll need time to modify it.”

”Renn, this will take quite a while, so could you help keep watch in the hall over there? You can also take a look at the two sheepskin scrolls and the black diary.”

”The diary contains some words of great inspiration for every crystallization peak wizard.”

”Dawn symbolizes the newborn sun and limitless possibilities. When we return, we can discuss and attempt this together; the chances are great, especially for you.” Moriah patted Renn on the shoulder with a smile.

”No problem, Sect Leader.” At this moment, Renn’s mind was immersed in the meditation method. Upon hearing the request to keep watch while reviewing the scrolls, he naturally nodded in agreement.

In fact, if Renn paid slight attention to Moriah, he would connect the dots to a certain notion.

If a Legendary-level energy source like the Molten Lava Heart was suitable, then the Epic-level energy source in his possession—the Abyss Fire Crystal Stone—seemed even more appropriate.

...

In the hall.

Renn was carefully perusing the black diary.

Though it was merely a collection of fragmented notes, as they were written by an ancient Valziger School sect leader and a high-rank wizard likely at the fourth-level Dawn peak, every word was highly enlightening for Renn.

It even served as the finishing touch.

”.... The fourth layer of the advanced meditation method is different from the first three layers, as the first three emphasize the purification of spiritual power, so learning it sooner or later doesn’t matter much...”

Recalling this sentence, Renn thought back and found it true.

He began studying the third layer of the Steel Heart Advanced Meditation Method only after crystallization reached 1%, following his advancement to a Third Level Crystallization Wizard.

Learning it a bit later would not have mattered much, as he would merely have been stuck at 1% crystallization for a while.

But the fourth layer is different; it determines the possibility of advancing to a Fourth Level Dawn Wizard and thus needs to be learned and mastered during the crystallization peak phase.

This is the first difficulty mentioned in the black diary.

”... Once spiritual power is nearing perfection, the fourth layer of the meditation method is needed for the final compression of spiritual power, the most challenging part....”

”... Finally, during this process, one must also outline the model of the fourth-level innate wizardry... ”

These two statements in the black diary highlight the second and third difficulties when advancing to a Dawn Wizard.

The combination of these three aspects makes the difficulty imaginable.

Renn seemed to comprehend!

”No wonder, even geniuses like Winterfort Academy’s Dean Batalov are stuck at the crystallization peak, waiting for opportunities to advance to a Fourth Level Dawn Wizard.”

”However, with the Dragon Soul Potion and other preparations this time, Batalov should be able to attempt a breakthrough to the fourth-level Dawn Realm again.”

...

Originally, Moriah intended for Renn to peruse the black diary to approach the advancement to a Fourth Level Dawn Wizard more cautiously, but unexpectedly, after reading it, Renn became even more eager and ready to try.

This was because, previously, Renn wasn’t entirely confident, but after reading the black diary, the advancement process became clear to him.

For someone with a system like his, having a specific execution process made things much simpler.

As Moriah busied himself in the secret chamber, Renn activated three battle golems using the Activation Technique to stand guard in the hall before continuing his attempt at the fourth layer.

After several hours and another six point-additions, Renn finally succeeded in intricately outlining the complex model formed by 256 Will Runes in the fourth layer of the Steel Heart Advanced Meditation Method.

At this moment, a peculiar sensation arose in his heart, and the complex triple-layered crystal in his mental sea also began to change.

At the base of the three-layered crystal, the annular foundation increased in diameter and further thickened, making it appear more solid.

And where the mental sea had almost turned to ice crystal, it now seemed to have entirely transformed into an aggregate of ice crystals, as if a basket full of tiny diamonds, devoid of any moisture.
