The Unveiling of Secret Queen

But he was raised in a prestigious family, so he’s not entirely stupid.

Marco Lordon rubbed his temples, then smiled, turning his head to look at a cafe across the road, and said gently: ”Ms. Quinlan, could we speak privately for a moment?”

Nathalie Quinlan was almost out of patience, raised her hand to check the time, without lifting her eyelids: ”Just say whatever you have to say here.”

Marco Lordon hesitated for a moment, seeing the girl slightly troubled, he realized he seemed unwelcome. He hesitated again and glanced at the person inside the car. Through the glass, he couldn’t clearly see Amadeus Yancey’s face.

So he redirected his line of sight back to Nathalie Quinlan, after a careful pause, he said: ”I heard that Ms. Quinlan is making things difficult for the Garland Family?”

”?” Originally, Nathalie Quinlan was patient because he had some relation to Khendy Lordon, but she didn’t expect Marco Lordon to confront her right away.

Marco Lordon spoke with a gentle, soothing voice, saying softly: ”I don’t know what grievances Ms. Quinlan has with the Garland Family, but I hope you don’t involve an innocent family in personal vendettas.”

”Are you done?” Nathalie Quinlan raised her lids, her eyes now devoid of emotions, quite indifferent.

Marco Lordon himself felt awkward, after hesitating, he tactfully asked the girl: ”Nathalie Quinlan, did you act against the Garland Family because of Zevaney?”

”I know you have some disagreements with Zevaney, Nathan Garland is her teacher, and you’ve had some unpleasant incidents.”

”But now you are Mr. Fuller’s chosen successor. In the end, Nathan Garland is from The First Research Institute, he’s an elder there. You will inherit The First Research Institute, acting against him now might chill the hearts of the ’elders’. So, I hope you...”

Nathalie Quinlan didn’t want to listen to his lengthy argument, she only asked him, ”Who sent you?”

Marco Lordon was suddenly interrupted, lifting his gaze to speak apologetically: ”Nathalie Quinlan, I didn’t mean that, I just wanted to advise you.”

”Advise me on what? Advise me to be kind?” Nathalie Quinlan casually retorted, ”Didn’t Khendy Lordon ever tell you that I don’t listen to advice?”

”I didn’t mean that.” Marco Lordon was becoming increasingly embarrassed.

Nathalie Quinlan didn’t want to linger, she turned to open the car door to get in.

Marco Lordon hurriedly reached out to stop her: ”Nathalie Quinlan.”

Suddenly, the other car door opened, and Amadeus Yancey stepped down from the car, striding over to grab Marco Lordon’s wrist, turned his head towards the girl, ”Get in the car first.”

”Alright.”

Considering Marco Lordon was Khendy Lordon’s brother, Nathalie Quinlan suppressed her irritation, nodded, and opened the car door to get in.

Marco Lordon was stopped and then saw the man’s face clearly: ”You...?”

He felt Amadeus Yancey looked familiar, but he couldn’t recall where they had met before.

Neither Marco Lordon nor the Lordon Family truly belonged to the circle of Lynn Kingsley, Amadeus Yancey, and their level.

The Lordon Family’s real entry into this circle where they can stand toe-to-toe with these big shots is Khendy Lordon alone.

And Khendy Lordon never represented his family.

Amadeus Yancey closed the car door for the girl, then turned his head, leaning casually against the car door, already projecting an air of superiority: ”It wasn’t easy for you, Lord Marco, to come all this way, was it? Where did you hear about our itinerary? Zevaney Kingsley or the Garland Family?”
