The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Martin seemed to be lost in memories, not directly answering her question: ”She passed away long ago, almost 20 years ago.”

Nathalie Quinlan almost guessed who the ’old friend’ he mentioned was!

Martin didn’t notice the subtle change in expression of the girl he had just met, he smiled to cover the loss in his eyes: ”If she were still alive, The First Research Institute and Inderia wouldn’t be as they are now. Unfortunately, she passed away early, died young.”

Nathalie Quinlan’s hand under the table clenched tightly, but she remained expressionless, her long eyelashes covering the dark circles under her eyes, saying casually: ”Oh, that’s quite unfortunate.”

Martin didn’t notice anything wrong with her tone, sighed, and said: ”Yes, it is quite unfortunate.”

”Unfortunately, she is gone, and besides missing her, we can’t do anything for her.”

”Mm.”

Nathalie Quinlan responded, a flicker of light in the depths of her dark eyes being suppressed beneath absolute darkness.

Martin didn’t seem to want to continue the topic, he changed the subject, asked Nathalie Quinlan a few questions, and learned that Nathalie Quinlan is currently nominally with Level 8 laboratory, as Orson Saban’s student.

He showed some interest and asked Nathalie Quinlan several questions about The First Research Institute, and everyone followed along on the topic for discussion.

Occasionally, Khendy Lordon chimed in, but overall didn’t say much.

Mainly Martin was asking.

Nathalie Quinlan answered each one, but she is also the kind of concise person, her answers were straightforward, neither humbling nor arrogant.

Martin usually talks with people who mostly display apprehension, reverence, desperately trying to showcase themselves before him.

Nathalie Quinlan’s casual attitude of treating him like an ordinary acquaintance made Martin’s eyes light up, he had a good first impression of Nathalie Quinlan and was willing to chat more with her.

However, Martin himself was quite busy.

Nathalie Quinlan noticed that during the hour he sat there chatting, his phone rang seven or eight times, constantly buzzing with various phone calls, indicating a lot on his plate.

Despite this, Martin remained courteous and did not answer these calls.

Until yet another call came through.

Martin stopped speaking, checked the time, and apologized as he stood up to Khendy Lordon and Nathalie Quinlan: ”It’s late, I should be heading back.”

Khendy Lordon’s fair complexion, clear and distinguished features, he politely spoke: ”I’ll have someone send you back.”

Martin waved his hand, smiling: ”No need, I have a driver, my driver is right outside, I’ll get back by myself, don’t trouble yourself.”

After speaking, he turned his gaze towards Nathalie Quinlan’s direction, a rare gentle expression on his face as he spoke: ”Ms. Quinlan, it was a pleasure chatting with you tonight, looking forward to our next meeting~”

The reason Martin said this was because during the conversation he learned Nathalie Quinlan was this year’s rookie star at the research institute.

He had a good relationship with Nicholas Fuller and knew Nicholas Fuller’s personality considerably well.

Thus, Martin speculated Nicholas Fuller might privately introduce Nathalie Quinlan to him, making it the second meeting, wouldn’t it?

As Martin was about to leave, Nathalie Quinlan suddenly called out to him: ”Mr. Martin.”

Martin involuntarily stopped, turned around, and looked at the girl who stopped him with a puzzled expression: ”Is there anything else?”

Nathalie Quinlan paused for a moment, took out her phone from her pocket, her gaze clear and composed as she looked at him: ”If it’s convenient, can we exchange contact information?”
