Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 1224: Chapter 1224: It’s Still Unclear Who’ll Get Beaten

Just as Mu Hanyan was left dumbfounded, Taowu let out a howl and was slapped away by the Fierce Stone Demon.

Although its whip-like long tail heavily struck the opponent, the Fierce Stone Demon merely rolled a few times before standing up again, seemingly unharmed. On the other hand, Taowu hollered loudly, and its figure turned much more vague.

No wonder, Taowu had only been resurrected with a few drops of Essence Blood, and its strength was far from its peak state. Moreover, it was suppressed by a seal, with only its Beast Soul responding to Mu Hanyan’s summons, allowing only thirty percent of its power to manifest.

The Fierce Stone Demon’s fierce reputation wasn’t much less than Taowu’s, and this one had awakened its ancestral Innate Ability: the Petrification Technique. Its defense was incredibly formidable, and it wasn’t something easily dealt with.

”Is this your idea of hitting until it’s afraid?” Mu Hanyan glanced at the dirt-covered Taowu, speaking both angrily and humorously.

Looking at the situation, who would end up being the one hit was still uncertain.

”Cough, cough, I underestimated it. I didn’t expect this little guy to be even tougher than I thought,” Taowu said sheepishly.

Having initially given the Fierce Stone Demon a hard strike upon its appearance, it didn’t take the opponent seriously, forgetting that it had taken advantage of a surprise attack. In a face-to-face confrontation, it couldn’t gain any advantage.

”What now?” Mu Hanyan asked. The Fierce Stone Demon was really formidable, and with Taowu unable to exert its full strength, they might have a hard time winning even if they teamed up.

”Master, you go handle it; I’ll cover for you,” Taowu said, looking up with a noble and righteous air, exuding a sense of valiant loyalty.

Mu Hanyan rolled her eyes hard, pondering whether to just let this guy’s soul scatter.

”Master, you’ve misunderstood. What I meant was, I’ll use my Divine Beast Heavenly Might to suppress its Innate Ability, causing its defense to plummet, making it no longer your match.” Seeing Mu Hanyan’s displeasure, Taowu hurriedly explained.

”If you can suppress its Innate Ability and reduce its defense significantly, why couldn’t you gain an advantage just now?” Mu Hanyan doubted Taowu’s words.

”Because I’m very weak now, even without its Petrification Technique I’m not its opponent,” Taowu’s voice was filled with sorrow.

”Alright, I’ll give it a shot then.” Having been chased around the room earlier by the Fierce Stone Demon, Mu Hanyan was already brimming with frustration.

At that moment, the Fierce Stone Demon roared again, charging at Mu Hanyan and Taowu.

Previously smacked away by Taowu’s sudden appearance, it had been cautious about launching an attack. After another clash, it realized the opponent wasn’t as threatening, regaining its confidence without a hint of hesitation.

In the beast clan, power ruled all, with no distinction of superiority or age. Not even with creatures like Taowu, one of the Four Great Fierce Beasts. Without previous strength, even the Aolai Divine Beast would face the same fate as a fallen tiger being bullied by dogs. Although the Fierce Stone Demon wasn’t as renowned as the Four Great Fierce Beasts, its actual strength wasn’t far behind.

Seeing the Fierce Stone Demon rushing aggressively, Mu Hanyan didn’t dare be careless, leaping into the air and unleashing the Nine Heavens Star Fall with a Sword Slash.

The Fierce Stone Demon, after many encounters, was no stranger to this strike. Its body flashed with an azure-grey glow, preparing to use its Stone Stone ability again.

In fact, it was this Innate Ability that had troubled Mu Hanyan greatly before; otherwise, no matter how strong its defense was, it couldn’t withstand the continuous might of the Nine Heavens Star Fall.

”Howl!” Taowu suddenly roared towards the sky.

The howl was so desolate, so grand, that a wave of Divine Beast Heavenly Might burst forth instantly.

The azure-grey light enveloping the Fierce Stone Demon’s body abruptly froze, and instead of turning into rock form, its armor remained unchanged.

Opportunities were fleeting. Mu Hanyan didn’t hesitate, and her sword struck heavily.

”Aow...” The Fierce Stone Demon let out a miserable cry, being sliced away by Mu Hanyan’s sword, crashing heavily into the stone wall. A half-foot-long gash was carved into its back armor, bleeding profusely.

This move was indeed effective! Mu Hanyan was overjoyed. No wonder Taowu could become a Divine Beast and one of the Four Great Fierce Beasts, while the Fierce Stone Demon, though not much weaker in battle power, did not share such an honor. There was indeed a reason for this.

Just as there are hierarchies in the Holy Court Continent, so do bloodline levels in the beast clan. Taowu’s Divine Beast Heavenly Might can suppress the Innate Ability of the Fierce Stone Demon.

After being pestered by the Fierce Stone Demon for so long, this was the first time Lady Mu had gained the upper hand, filling her with renewed vigor. She charged forward, sword in hand.

To repay grudges, to avenge grievances, that was Lady Mu’s way.

The Fierce Stone Demon, in pain, roared again and lunged towards her.

Soon, human and beast clashed fiercely; nearby, Taowu’s desolate roars filled with Divine Beast Heavenly Might echoed from time to time.

The Fierce Stone Demon’s attack power was undeniably strong, with endurance and vitality also incredibly tough, yet its greatest advantage was defense.

Suppressed by Taowu’s Divine Beast Heavenly Might, unable to use its Petrification Technique, its defensive power dropped significantly, unable to withstand the Cold Sky Sword’s divine edge.

With the flashes of shining Sword Light, the Fierce Stone Beast’s body was marked with wound after wound, casting a mist of blood.

Its previous roars also grew weaker, turning into cries of anguish.

Finally, fear appeared in its eyes.

Mu Hanyan slashed down once more, and the Fierce Stone Demon let out a terrified howl, turning to rush towards the stone wall.

Previously, using the Petrification Technique, it had blended into the wall and silently appeared before Mu Hanyan. Now, fleeing, it hoped to use the same tactic.

Unfortunately, it forgot one crucial detail: under Taowu’s Divine Beast Heavenly Might, its Innate Ability couldn’t be used.

With a dull thud, the Fierce Stone Demon crashed into the stone wall, its horn, not particularly long or mighty to begin with, snapped, and blood gushed from its base.

The collision left the Fierce Stone Demon seeing stars, its mind a blur. Fortunately, the pain from its horn quickly brought it back to clarity. It desperately clawed at the stone wall. Before fully mastering the Petrification Technique, this was the method it used, relying on its partially awakened bloodline power to stealth into the Beast Taming Room, giving the Academy Disciples quite a startling ”surprise.”
