Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 1205: Chapter 1205: Revisiting Old Matters, Targeting Han Yan

The man noticed Han Yan’s somewhat excited expression, feeling a bit frustrated in his heart. We’ve been talking for a long time, yet you think we’re speaking in vain. Not only are you not worried at all, but you’re also this excited.

The other disciples also glanced at Han Yan and shook their heads secretly: This Han Yan must be getting carried away, thinking that alchemy, even if it is more complex than sword casting and arrays, is not beyond reach. But soon, she will realize she was wrong.

”Disciple pays respect to Lord Chu, Lord Chang.” At that moment, two elders walked into the hall one after the other, and all the disciples hurriedly greeted them.

Han Yan also collected her thoughts and followed suit in greeting.

”No need for formalities.” Chu and Chang were somewhat absentminded and raised their hands slightly as they spoke.

Then Zhu Tianping also walked in. Before the disciples could salute, he waved them off with a stern face.

”You are the disciples preparing to join our Danxin Hall to study alchemy, right? You must be aware of the rules of our Danxin Hall. Prepare well, as the assessment will begin shortly.” Zhu Tianping said.

Rules, what rules, and what assessment? Not just the seven or eight outer disciples, even the outer disciples on the side listening in were baffled.

Many of them were not first-time auditors at Danxin Hall, yet they didn’t recall any rules or assessments.

”Ahem, ahem, the previous ancestors of Danxin Hall set a rule that only after passing the assessment can one enter Danxin Hall to study alchemy. This is also for your benefit. As everyone knows, studying alchemy is far more challenging than other strange and mysterious arts. Without certain qualifications, it’s merely a waste of time and could adversely affect your cultivation.” Tutor Chu coughed twice, smoothing over the situation.

What! The disciples were all surprised.

They just remembered that Danxin Hall indeed had such a rule, but due to the difficulty of studying alchemy, recruiting disciples was far harder than other halls and branches, so this rule hadn’t been enforced for hundreds of years. Yet, even so, few at Long Yan Academy were willing to study alchemy.

Why suddenly bring up old matters now and dig up dusty old records?

Han Yan was also a bit surprised. Seeing the other disciples’ astonished expressions, she also guessed Danxin Hall had such a rule, but it hadn’t been mentioned for many years. Why did these tutors bring up the old records as soon as she arrived at Danxin Hall?

”Mr. Zhu, I advise you to reconsider and not let a trivial matter ruin Danxin Hall’s hundred-year plan!” Just as Han Yan was secretly puzzled, Ye Fengyun, who entered afterward, said with a cold face.

Chu and Chang also looked expectantly at Zhu Tianping, hoping he would consider the bigger picture and change his mind. Unfortunately, they were destined to be disappointed.

”The rules set by the previous ancestor were meant for the academy disciples. We were too shortsighted before and failed the ancestor’s painstaking efforts. Now is the time to correct this, so how can we change it at will again?” Zhu Tianping decided firmly on teaching Han Yan a lesson to vent his anger and wouldn’t easily change his mind.

Seeing his stubbornness, Ye Fengyun’s expression turned more gloomy, and Chu and Chang were also helpless.

The seven or eight senior disciples felt a wave of frustration. They had all made wishful abacuses, intending to mix in Danxin Hall and obtain a trial token. After all, Danxin Hall was lacking disciples, so the previous assessments were not too difficult. But once this old rule was brought out, they knew they were likely to be disappointed.

Although they didn’t know what the rule was, since it was set by the previous ancestor of Danxin Hall aimed at assessing the disciples’ alchemy qualifications, it certainly wouldn’t be simple. They probably wouldn’t even qualify to join Danxin Hall, let alone tuck away a trial token.

Han Yan frowned. She also realized that wanting to study Danxin Hall’s alchemy method might not be so easy.

”Han Yan, be careful. Zhu Tianping is targeting you, so don’t be careless.” Just as Han Yan was thinking this, Ye Fengyun’s voice suddenly sounded in her ear.

”Oh?” Han Yan looked at Ye Fengyun with a puzzled expression.

”The Illusion Dragon Branch’s medicinal herbs were originally procured from Li’s Commerce, and the Li family is Zhu Tianping’s distant relative.” Ye Fengyun used Gathering Qi Transmission to explain further.

So that’s how it is, Han Yan suddenly realized. Where there are people, there are secular disputes. Apparently, she inadvertently cut off someone’s financial road, leading to a grudge with Zhu Tianping, bringing up dusty old records from centuries ago. Other academy disciples were merely implicated.

Knowing the reason for the situation, Han Yan felt no bit of dismay; instead, her spirit rose. If Zhu Tianping was truly considering the bigger picture in reestablishing the ancestor’s rule, she would accept it and go with the flow. But since the other party is deliberately targeting her, she won’t easily be discouraged. She’s determined to see what methods these people will use and whether they can truly challenge her, Han Yan.

”Bring out the Sun and Moon Red Pill Furnace left by the ancestor.” Zhu Tianping instructed his disciples.

Soon, a disciple returned to the hall carrying an alchemy furnace.

Seeing this alchemy furnace, everyone’s gaze was filled with curiosity.

The alchemy furnace in front looked similar to an ordinary one, but if observed closely, it was engraved with runes, and the furnace body was noticeably thicker, giving a more ancient and weighty feeling.

Clearly, this was no ordinary pill furnace.

And Tutor Chu and Master Chang’s faces showed an even more bitter smile.

Although according to the ancestor’s tradition, the assessment method is not much different, the difference in the furnaces used would affect the difficulty. Zhu Tianping using the Sun and Moon Red Pill Furnace meant that likely no one present could pass the assessment.

It’s known that although this furnace produces higher quality elixirs, it also demands a higher standard of alchemy skill. Using it for the assessment is blatantly setting people up.

”Later, I will teach you a few simple alchemy techniques and prepare some medicinal herbs. As long as you can use those techniques to refine the herbs into juice and integrate them, you will pass the assessment.” Zhu Tianping explained simply.

Although he said it simply, everyone knew the actual refinement would not be simple, and their expressions became serious.

After he spoke, Zhu Tianping began making hand gestures while explaining some of the most basic alchemy skills.

The hand gestures consisted of only twelve moves, more intricate than the alchemy Dao enlightenment books sold in the market, holding a sense of naturalness and simplicity. But for those senior disciples who have joined the academy for years and learned various strange and mysterious arts, mastering them wasn’t too difficult.

Soon, several people were proficient. Han Yan, having studied some enlightenment books for days and gained much insight from Jiang Qiling at the Illusion Dragon Hall, also found it easy to learn.

”Who will go first?” Seeing that everyone had practiced adequately, Zhu Tianping asked.
