Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 429: 429 must have a grudge against pigs.

What gave Han Yan a headache was how Mu Feng got mixed up with her. It was well known that Qu Shanhai, who claimed to be the strongest swordsman below a sword master, was killed by Ye Lanfeng; indirectly, he was also killed by her. If the matter remained secretive, it was alright, but once it leaked, hostile relations between the Qu family and the Mu Family were inevitable. She really didn’t want any relations between the Mu Family and the Qu family.

”Yeah, that’s him. It’s really strange. What’s he doing coming here to join in the excitement?” Mu Cheng said, just as puzzled.

”Forget about them. Let’s order,” Han Yan said.

”Bring us red bean braised pig trotters, winter melon braised tendon, and steamed pork knuckle; also, add a fennel roasted pork leg,” Mu Cheng said excitedly as he opened the menu, his eyes shining.

Han Yan looked at Mu Cheng with a corner of her mouth twitching in disdain. She was sure there was no mistake—this guy must have had a vendetta against pigs in his past life and was probably kicked to death by one.

Han Yan wasn’t interested in a full-on pork leg feast, so she ordered a few local special wild dishes instead and handed the menu to the waiter.

Before long, the dishes were served. Even though Han Yan wasn’t that excited about eating, after gnawing on dry rations for so long, the smell of the dishes made her mouth water. She didn’t stand on ceremony with Mu Cheng and started to eat ravenously with chopsticks in hand.

Mu Cheng had never stood on ceremony with her anyway. At this moment, he rolled up his sleeves, grabbed a big pork leg, and started chewing voraciously! His gusto was as if he could swallow mountains and rivers, aspiring to reach the clouds! Seeing this, Han Yan admitted defeat.

”I thought Eldest Young Master Mu couldn’t eat without a private room. Turns out you can enjoy your food just fine down here,” a voice jeered from a private room on the second floor as the door opened and Mu Feng peeked his head out for a glance at Han Yan.

”After all, you are from the Mu Family. Sitting in such a place really is beneath your status. Why don’t you join us up here?” Qu Fengting turned his head, his face cold and arrogant.

”Thanks for the offer, but we’re good down here,” Han Yan replied. Not to mention Qu Fengting’s obvious pretense, even if the invitation had been genuine, she had no interest in associating with anyone from the Qu family—she would avoid it if she could.

”Ungrateful,” Qu Fengting snorted coldly and slammed the door shut.

”Right, Brother Fengting, you said earlier you needed my help with something. What is it?” Mu Feng’s voice faintly came through from the private room.

Although the tavern was noisy, with her skills as a great swordsman, Han Yan still heard his words and pricked up her ears.

”It’s about this, you’ve heard of my Third Uncle Qu Shanhai, haven’t you?” Qu Fengting asked.

”Of course, I’ve heard of senior Qu Shanhai. He’s known as the strongest great swordsman below a sword master. If I hadn’t heard of him, I would be too uninformed,” Mu Feng said with reverence.

”Not long ago, my third uncle disappeared. He was said to be looking for someone and hadn’t returned for several days. Our elder relatives speculate that he was likely assassinated,” Qu Fengting explained.

”How is that possible? With Senior Qu’s strength, how could he be assassinated?” Mu Feng exclaimed in shock.

”I find it unlikely too, but if the elders say so, they must have their reasons. This time I came out not only to participate in the trial but also to fulfill the family’s mission to investigate the real culprit behind my third uncle’s death. Your Mu Family is the number one family in Heishi City, so I ask for your assistance in this matter. If there’s any progress, I, Qu Fengting, will surely repay you,” Qu Fengting said.

”Brother Fengting, you’re being too formal. Since we call each other brothers, your business is my business. I’ll investigate thoroughly as soon as I return to Heishi City, and let’s not mention rewards; otherwise, it’s like you’re looking down on me, Mu Feng,” Mu Feng said, flattered.
