Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

”Ever since I learned the Star Illusion Thousand Machine Technique from you, I’ve been calculating every day, truly exhausting my mind and pouring my heart and blood into it,” Qu Shanling said. As he spoke, he seemed to recall his harrowing experiences over the past days, his face a portrait of misery. While speaking, he pulled out a large pig’s leg from his robe and took a ferocious bite.

Han Yan looked at Qu Shanling with sympathy, imagining the old god must have coughed up plenty of blood these days. But then, seeing the pig’s leg he was gnawing on, Han Yan felt the pigs of Heishi City deserved some sympathy too.

”Unfortunately, no matter how hard I try, I just can’t peer through the Heavenly Secret. Not until last night when I used the Star Illusion Thousand Machine Technique again, and finally saw the Heavenly Secret,” Qu Shanling said, shoving the leftover pig’s leg back into his robe. He wiped his mouth with his hand, then casually wiped it on the back of his clothes before continuing.

”What do you mean?” Han Yan asked eagerly.

”Within half a year at most, the death omen will fall upon me. Death omen, a death knot. No matter how I calculate, it’s a dead end, absolutely no chance of escaping it,” Qu Shanling said with a desolate face.

”Ah!” Han Yan hadn’t expected such an outcome and, seeing Qu Shanling’s face filled with sorrow and despair, felt even more sympathetic.

”Death omen, death knot, it can’t be untied, it can’t be dissolved,” Qu Shanling said tearfully, muttering as if to himself.

”Master Qu, everyone dies eventually, some light as a feather, others heavy as Mount Tai. If you have any unfulfilled wishes, go and do them. If there’s anything I can help with, just ask, and I will do my utmost to make it happen,” Han Yan consoled him.

”Young Master, are you really willing to help me?” Qu Shanling asked, looking gratefully at Han Yan.

”Mhm,” Han Yan nodded firmly.

”Then I have a request. I still can’t calculate when the death omen will come, but when it’s time for me to die, I hope you can see me off on my last journey. I have studied the Star Divination Technique all my life and yet never truly grasped it until I met you. When it comes to Star Divination, apart from my Master, I only admire you. If you could be there to send me off, I would have no regrets in this life,” Qu Shanling said, touched.

”I promise you,” Han Yan solemnly vowed.

”Hahaha, thank you so much,” Qu Shanling laughed heartily, pulling out the pig’s leg again and taking another bite, looking completely content.

”This old man, he isn’t playing some kind of trick, is he?” Han Yan couldn’t help but feel something was amiss, suspecting the old god-man might have an ulterior motive.

But then, remembering his weeping face from moments before, it didn’t seem like he was faking.

”Alright, I exhausted too much energy last night and am a bit weary. You go on with your business, and I’ll have someone summon you when the hour comes,” Qu Shanling added.

”Alright then, I’ll take my leave,” Han Yan said, bidding farewell and departing.

On the way, Han Yan grew increasingly puzzled, sensing something odd but unable to pinpoint it.

”That’s right, last night!” Han Yan suddenly shuddered.

It was just yesterday that he had received the Heavenly Destiny Star Plate from Mu Tianliehuo, and as if in a dream, had heard those eight words. Huayue and Zirong also heard the same words in the void and their strength surged, both advancing to the ranks of Eighth Rank Swordsmen.

It was also last night that Qu Shanling calculated his death omen.

Could all this be connected somehow?
