Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 411: 411 best understands you

”So that’s how it is. Grandfather, let’s search again, let’s search thoroughly once more.” Having heard the legendary experiences of Mu Tianlie, Mu Feng was already filled with admiration and envy, and having learned the secrets of the Heavenly Destiny Star Plate, he grew even more excited, his face flushing red and his whole body trembling with agitation.

”No need to continue searching; I have looked for an entire day and night. If it were here, I would have found it already,” the Great Elder shook his head and said.

”Could it be that the Heavenly Flame Ancestor was so powerful that he turned the Heavenly Destiny Star Plate into dust?” Housekeeper Geng speculated.

”Impossible. According to the testament left by the Heavenly Flame Ancestor, the Heavenly Destiny Star Plate is akin to a Divine Artifact. It might not even be an object from our Holy Court Continent, but from beyond the Nine Heavens. It contains many secrets even he couldn’t unravel. How could it be so easily destroyed?” The Great Elder firmly denied his conjecture.

”I know now. It must have been Mu Hanyan who took the Heavenly Destiny Star Plate. Now I see it clearly—this guy has always hidden his strength, playing dumb, as cunning as a fox. Nothing he says can be trusted, not a single word,” Mu Feng slapped his forehead and said with certainty.

Indeed, those who understand you best are not your friends but your enemies. Mu Feng hit the nail on the head.

”Thinking about it now, that’s the only possibility,” the Great Elder said bitterly.

”No, we can’t allow it. It’s the heirloom our ancestor left for our line; how can it fall into the hands of outsiders? We must find the Family Head immediately for justice, to take back the Heavenly Destiny Star Plate left by the Heavenly Flame Ancestor,” Mu Feng said, his anger surging.

”If we had exposed Mu Hanyan’s lies earlier and reclaimed the Heavenly Destiny Star Plate, it might have been feasible. It’s too late now,” the Great Elder sighed.

”Why?” Mu Feng asked, perplexed.

”Didn’t I just tell you? The Heavenly Flame Ancestor did not leave the Heavenly Destiny Star Plate solely to our direct line. Any of the Mu Family’s Disciples are eligible to possess it if they are chosen by destiny. We were simply given a little preference. Do you think Mu Rui’an will just hand it over to you now?” the Great Elder explained, then he sighed deeply and continued, ”Ah, I blame myself for acting impulsively. How could I have let that young man enter the Treasure Vault? I’ve been searching my whole life and have never been able to find the Ancestor’s tomb. How did he find it on his first attempt? How could he be so lucky? I really don’t know how he passed the trials set by our ancestor.”

As he spoke, the Great Elder was filled with self-blame, annoyance, and regret, so much so that he felt like banging his head against the wall.

”Great Elder, don’t be too hard on yourself. You said it yourself; his luck was just outrageously good,” Housekeeper Geng tried to comfort him.

”Slap!” Mu Feng’s hand struck Housekeeper Geng’s face, and he rebuked angrily, ”How dare you make such heartless comments? If it weren’t for you hiding all the decent things on your own initiative, Mu Hanyan would have left the Treasure Vault contentedly a long time ago. Such a disaster wouldn’t have occurred. It’s all your fault!”

”This subordinate deserves death, this subordinate deserves death,” Housekeeper Geng was also filled with grievance. He too was following the Great Elder’s desire to trouble Mu Hanyan—how could he have known about his extraordinary luck? But as Mu Feng had nowhere to vent his anger, he took it out on Housekeeper Geng, who could say nothing in his defense. He had to accept the slap undeservedly.

”Enough, we can’t blame him entirely; his intentions were good,” the Great Elder gestured with his hand, but the look he gave Housekeeper Geng was less than pleased.

Although it started because of him, Mu Feng’s reasoning was also sound. If it hadn’t been for Housekeeper Geng’s presumption, Mu Hanyan would have left the Treasure Vault satisfied, and they wouldn’t have lost the ancestral treasure to him. Housekeeper Geng was simply competent at ruining things more than accomplishing them. Certainly, the Great Elder couldn’t literally go and knock his head against the wall, so all the blame landed squarely on Housekeeper Geng.
