Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Mu Hanyan and his companions had not anticipated that the news would spread so swiftly. Seeing the traders’ brimming confidence, they felt a great sense of relief.

”I finally understand why you didn’t even give Ye Fengyun face. If we had backed down this time, I fear all our efforts would have come to naught,” said Mu Nan, filled with emotion.

In Holy Court Continent, in the end, strength commands respect. Looking back, my previous self was a bit naive to think that I could make Nanmu Auction the most powerful chamber of commerce in Anyun Country on my own. It’s not that it was impossible, but without the support of a strong backer, the amount of effort and even the painful price that would have to be paid to reach that point are unimaginable.

Now, with Mu Hanyan, many things have become much easier.

Perhaps, their ambitions weren’t as far out of reach as they had thought.

Mu Nan looked at Mu Hanyan, and couldn’t help but think, I wish for him to become stronger and stronger because only if he grows strong can Nanyan Commerce grow strong alongside him.

Upon returning to the inner courtyard, Housekeeper Sun greeted them with a beaming smile.

”Young Master really has a way of handling things. At first, I was worried that if this matter were not dealt with properly, it could cause unrest. But seeing this puts my mind at ease. Now, not only do the traders look at Nanyan Commerce in a new light, but everyone in the chamber is also brimming with confidence. The injured guards, upon hearing the news, were so grateful that they were moved to tears, saying they wanted to come and personally thank you. I barely managed to dissuade them,” said Housekeeper Sun excitedly.

”It was nothing. By the way, Housekeeper Sun, you haven’t spoken too much about my identity, have you?” Mu Hanyan asked.

”Why say more? Once they heard about this, everyone guessed that our Nanyan Commerce has managed to establish itself in Heishi City under the protection of Big Playboy Mu. They surely think that Big Playboy Mu has colluded with us and must have reaped plenty of benefits,” joked Housekeeper Sun.

In his view, the main reason Mu Hanyan was unwilling to reveal his identity was probably because of his terrible reputation. He didn’t want to draw too much attention and cause too many problems for his father, the City Lord (though he had already caused quite a few), so he didn’t find it strange.

”That’s good. Have someone negotiate with Yuan Tianbo about the adjacent courtyards again. I think this time he won’t be asking for an exorbitant price, but let’s not bully him with our power. Paying a little extra is fine,” said Mu Hanyan.

Eventually showing he isn’t a true playboy, Mu Hanyan may seem carefree in his actions, but he has his own limits.

”Yes.” Housekeeper Sun was growing more and more impressed with Mu Hanyan and agreed without hesitation, and then he added, ”By the way, my master is waiting for you. He says he has an important matter to discuss.”

”Uh, I’ll be right there,” Mu Hanyan replied with concern, recalling the worried look on Qu Shanling’s face.

Soon, he arrived at Qu Shanling’s small courtyard. With no outsiders present, Qu Shanling seemed even more anxious. On closer inspection, a few more white hairs had appeared on his temples, clearly not dyed.

”Master Qu, what’s happened?” asked Mu Hanyan.

”Young Master, do you remember the life-and-death ordeal I spoke of?” Qu Shanling steadied his emotions before asking Mu Hanyan.

”Of course I remember, have you figured it out?” Mu Hanyan certainly wouldn’t forget. It was because of Qu Shanling’s Master’s parting words, predicting that he would face a life-and-death ordeal around the age of forty-five, that Qu Shanling was searching far and wide for fellow experts to assist him. In the end, he met Mu Hanyan and, through a mix of coincidence and willingness, ended up signing an indenture contract for twenty years.
