Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

”Going one-on-one, I might not necessarily lose to you,” Jiang Yuzhe said, bristling with anger.

”Oh really? Then I might give you that chance,” Mu Hanyan replied.

”That’s for real?” Jiang Yuzhe perked up, feeling as though even his aches seemed less painful.

Although Mu Hanyan had just demonstrated the strength of a Sixth-tier Swordsman with that punch, and he had only recently advanced to the Sixth Rank, falling short of Mu Hanyan’s abilities, as long as it was a fair fight, he was utterly confident he could defeat Mu Hanyan and repay the pain and humiliation a hundredfold.

”Hmph, we’re playboys, not scoundrels; do you think we would do something as dishonest as breaking our word and tarnish our own reputation?” Mu Hanyan, not knowing where he’d found Jiang Yuzhe’s folding fan, flicked it open with a whoosh and waved it with a face full of arrogance as though the reputation of a playboy was something to be proud of.

Hmm, this fan isn’t bad, thought Mu Hanyan as soon as he’d spoken, snapping the fan shut with another flick, feeling quite pleased with himself. No wonder all the playboy elites like to carry a fan to affect elegance; it does add some air of grandeur. I’ll rely on this for my pretense from now on.

”Fine!” Jiang Yuzhe was aware of the bad habits of these spoiled young masters. They might cause trouble and act unreasonably, but they took their face very seriously, and usually wouldn’t go back on their word. He sprang up from the ground in an instant, probably straining his injury as he grimaced in pain.

Enduring the agony, Jiang Yuzhe’s hand rested on the hilt of his sword, his eyes glaring at Mu Hanyan like a wounded wild beast.

”Hold on, the one fighting you isn’t me, it’s him,” Mu Hanyan said, pointing at Huayue.

”He is not worthy!” Jiang Yuzhe said disdainfully with a glance at Huayue.

He hadn’t forgotten the grudge from that kick just now, but his current target was Mu Hanyan. As long as he took care of Mu Hanyan, there would be plenty of chances to deal with Huayue later.

”Young Master, I can’t do it, I’m not his match,” Huayue said, feeling slighted by Jiang Yuzhe but not getting angry. Instead, he spoke in a low, serious voice to Mu Hanyan.

Disparity is disparity. Although he had enough confidence in himself, he was by no means delusional with arrogance.

”If I say you can, then you can,” Mu Hanyan patted Huayue on the shoulder, his eyes full of trust.

Huayue’s heart trembled slightly. At this moment, he wasn’t yet the illustrious Huayue known throughout Anyun, simply a common youth, so insignificant that even competing for the position of a guard would have him scorned and ridiculed. Yet unexpectedly, Mu Hanyan saw potential in him, choosing him as a personal guard, and inexplicably helped him find the most suitable Cultivation Technique. His strength improved by leaps and bounds, rising to a Fifth Rank Swordsman almost overnight.

Although he was still somewhat skeptical about Mu Hanyan’s ”famed” reputation as a playboy, it wasn’t deeply ingrained, and the bias was even fading, his trust in Mu Hanyan growing more and more.

”If he says I can do it, then I definitely can, even if I can’t, I’ll stake my life on giving it my all,” Huayue silently swore to himself. Not for any other reason, but for Mu Hanyan’s repeated trust, he absolutely could not let him down.

”Eldest Young Master Mu, you’re not scared of being hit, sending a servant to take the hit for you, are you?” taunted Jiang Yuzhe.

”Psh, scared of being hit? If I were scared, I’d just beat you half to death straight away so you wouldn’t even have the strength to crawl, how would you be able to hit me? Don’t talk to me about how great your fourth uncle is or whatever. You know who I am. As long as I don’t kill you, what can he do to me? At worst, I’d be sent back home, and he wouldn’t dare lay a finger on me!” Mu Hanyan spoke with a dismissive arrogance.
