Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 270: 270 just means being the scapegoat

The crucial point here is that Mu Hanyan is leading the team. Despite having defeated Mu Feng before, it was said that the City Lord secretly gave him the Vessel Cutting Marrow Cleansing Pill which was originally meant for Mu Feng; his real talents are significantly lacking. It wouldn’t matter much in internal family competitions, since everyone would hold back their true force, but in actual combat with real swords and real battles, depending on him would be foolish.

What’s even more disconcerting is that this fellow constantly stirs up trouble due to his playboy nature; he has recently developed a penchant for ripping people’s clothes. It might be beneficial in Heishi City to help them vent their frustrations, but outside, such disgraceful behavior could possibly lead to deadly troubles, and they might all be implicated because of him.

Second Elder, if you want to harm Mu Hanyan, that’s your business, but why drag us into it? Several of the younger generation felt like crying without tears, seeing only a bleak future ahead of them.

Soon, the Second Elder finished reading the list; including Mu Hanyan, there were a total of six people heading to Xiushui City.

”Family Head, Second Elder, Third Elder, Fourth Uncle Zi Qing is my own uncle. May I also go with them?” Mu Nan took the initiative to speak up, as his name had not been mentioned.

He could see that these people had no confidence in Mu Hanyan. They definitely wouldn’t obey his commands on the road; If he went, at least he would have someone who might take orders from him, so he wouldn’t have to fight alone.

The Second Elder hesitated for a moment before looking towards the Third Elder.

The Third Elder also hesitated. Mu Nan’s ability was too lacking, sending him was truly worrying, but this trip to Xiushui City was originally for matters involving his branch of the family; it would be unreasonable to send nobody from his side.

In fact, he was inclined to send Mu Huaidong, but he also knew that this mission had little chance of success, and the Second Elder was clearly setting up Mu Hanyan to take the blame. Mu Huaidong, being older and too headstrong, might overshadow others, potentially leading Mu Hanyan to push him out when advantageous, leaving Mu Huaidong to face the misfortune.

”Alright then, let Mu Nan go as well,” the Third Elder decided after much consideration. Although the chances of success were slim, there probably wouldn’t be much danger; Mu Nan was unlikely to face any major risks given his age and capabilities, nor would he be likely to be saddled with any serious blame.

”Grandfather, I also want to go,” another voice spoke up.

Unexpectedly, it was Mu Cheng from the Second Elder’s family.

Wasn’t this guy pretty smart before? Why is he muddling into this mess? Can’t he see that the rest of us can’t even avoid it? The other youngsters looked at Mu Cheng with puzzled eyes.

”What are you causing trouble for? Do you even have a stake in this matter?” The Second Elder was also taken aback, and then scolded angrily. Even if others couldn’t understand his intentions, Mu Cheng should, shouldn’t he? Why join in the chaos?

”Grandfather, my skills have reached the Fourth-tier Swordsman level; I also want to take this opportunity to travel and perhaps make further progress,” Mu Cheng drew his longsword, showing off his skills.

”Congratulations to Cheng, for advancing silently to the Fourth-tier Swordsman; it’s indeed a good opportunity to go and see the world.”

”Yes, yes, Cheng has just advanced, full of vigor; he will surely lend us a helping hand.” Those few young men and women who had been named were already resentful towards the Second Elder. Seeing how actively and eagerly Mu Cheng was jumping into the pit his own grandfather had dug, they were thrilled, and all echoed his sentiment in agreement.

Now, the Second Elder was left in an awkward position, unable to overtly admit that his actual intent was to set up Mu Hanyan, and he surely couldn’t implicate his beloved grandson as well.

Sigh, what a foolish boy! The Second Elder was so frustrated that he grabbed his own beard.
