Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

”Um, Young Master Ye, you...” Mu Hanyan truly didn’t know how to continue the conversation and, after pondering for a long time, decided to ask Ye Lanfeng if he had eaten.

However, Ye Lanfeng interrupted her, stating decisively, ”We have met before.”

”Yes, we have met before.” Mu Hanyan was utterly confused. Wasn’t that obvious? They had met twice, hadn’t they? Once when Ye Lanfeng had come to her rescue and another time on the street when he had happened to see the brothel girls greeting her.

Ye Lanfeng fell silent again, only gazing intensely at Mu Hanyan.

He certainly knew that what Mu Hanyan understood was not what he was trying to convey.

We have met, it seemed, in a previous life, or perhaps even further back in the distant past.

But that idea was too fantastical, too ethereal.

The only thing he could be sure of was that he always couldn’t help wanting to be close to her.

Mu Hanyan looked at Ye Lanfeng, who had fallen silent once more, and felt the pressure mounting again. She stood there, not knowing what to say, torn between leaving and staying.

Suddenly, Ye Lanfeng leaned in close to Mu Hanyan’s face. Startled, she tried to step back, but found herself unable to move. Then, Mu Hanyan just stared with wide eyes at the magnified handsome face before her, the deep eyes, neat and attractive eyebrows, straight nose, and sharply contoured thin lips. ’How handsome he is,’ Mu Hanyan thought to herself. It wasn’t until after this thought that she realized how precarious their current position was.

Too close. From a distance, weren’t they too intimately close? Such closeness between two men was so strange. What would others think upon seeing this?

In fact, at a street corner in the distance, all of Ye Lanfeng’s subordinates were staring wide-eyed at the scene, with the youngest and most impetuous among them opening his mouth wide enough to fit his fist inside, as if afraid he couldn’t help but yell out and had to be muffled and dragged away by others. He felt more and more convinced that his master must fancy that playboy — that his master was gay. No, was it that his master turned gay after meeting that playboy, or had he always been that way?

This treasure of a subordinate was agonizing over the matter, thinking that the former seemed more likely. If that was the case, should he discuss with everyone whether they should eliminate Mu Wanku sooner rather than later to steer their master back on the straight path, or should they support their master’s decision and his relationship?

It had to be said, this guy’s imagination was shooting through the roof!

Ye Lanfeng, of course, had no idea of the wild fantasies his subordinate was concocting. Ye Lanfeng straightened up, and a faint smile suddenly appeared on his face.

Just a faint smile, yet it seemed as if everything around him came to a stop, leaving Mu Hanyan momentarily spellbound.

”Today at Nanyan Chamber of Commerce, you... did well,” Ye Lanfeng hesitated, swallowing the words ”you’re cute” that had almost slipped out. Now, Mu Hanyan was a man, a man.

”Uh, just luck,” Mu Hanyan replied with an embarrassed smile. Yet inwardly, she was surprised. Was Master Ye at Nanyan Chamber of Commerce today too? How come she hadn’t seen him?

”The favor you owe me, you’ll repay later. Until next time,” Ye Lanfeng glanced at Mu Hanyan’s face, then at her head, resisting the urge to touch her hair, and with that, he left her with these words and turned to leave.

What? Mu Hanyan was bewildered, even more puzzled inside, completely at a loss as to why Ye Lanfeng had suddenly appeared before her, and even more so as to the meaning behind his every word and action. Was he just saying hello?

”Not for long,” Ye Lanfeng’s voice drifted from afar. Mu Hanyan looked up to see that Ye Lanfeng’s figure had already disappeared from the street.

Mu Hanyan returned to the City Lord’s Mansion with a face full of confusion, carrying the walnuts.

Ye Lanfeng, however, stood with his men on the rooftop of a tall building, quietly watching Mu Hanyan’s retreating figure.
