Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 257: 257 sold at a high price.

”These people dare to set traps for our young master! Now they must feel fantastic, absolutely thrilled. They jumped into their own pit and buried themselves alive. It’s all thanks to our young master’s divine wisdom and his sharp intelligence. He saw through their schemes at a glance. Our young master truly is a Heavenly Star Descending...” Zirong began his Flattery Skill nonstop.

Mu Hanyan gave Zirong a cold look, turned around, and completely dismissed the dumbass by showing him his back.

”Young Master Mu, can we now discuss the matter of the griffin?” Seeing that Mu Hanyan had dealt with Yuan Tianbo and the others, Zhu Yi and Wu Songxing approached anxiously.

”Hmm, the griffin is of no use to me. Since both of you want it, I might as well give it away. However, as there is only one griffin, we can’t exactly split it in half. Let’s just auction it off.” Mu Hanyan first generously made an offer, then pondered as if troubled.

This griffin only looked like a real griffin, but its abilities were far inferior, and it seemed not too bright. She had no interest in it. Of course, not being interested didn’t mean she would just give it away for nothing; after all, it was still a griffin, which looked quite impressive. If she was willing to sell, there were definitely wealthy landowners willing to pay a good price.

Perfectly, both the Wu family from Nanxi County and the Zhu family from the Capital were interested. Letting them compete would surely drive up the price.

”What a slick kid,” Zhu Yi and Wu Songxing thought to themselves simultaneously. They knew well that because both of them wanted to buy the griffin, Mu Hanyan’s words were so pleasant. If there had been only one interested buyer, would you see him offering it for free?

Who said that this Big Playboy Mu was ignorant and good for nothing? When it came to being ruthless, he might be even more so than those inept sons of noble families. And when it came to cunning, he was as slick as a monkey. Zhu Yi and Wu Songxing both deeply doubted the rumors circulating about Mu Hanyan.

After all, for big families like theirs, the way they viewed their descendants differed from that of ordinary families. Being a playboy was fine, and causing trouble was also fine, as long as they had strength and brains. What they truly feared was the mediocrity of the incompetent.

”Well then, Brother Zhu, no offense,” Wu Songxing clasped his hands and said.

”None taken, Brother Wu. Please be gentle,” Zhu Yi responded with a light and breezy smile.

Now that both had spoken, their intentions to compete were clear, and neither was willing to back down.

”Please take your seats, gentlemen. We shall start the auction now. Others interested can also place their bids,” Housekeeper Sun said, excited as he had never dealt with such prestigious families before.

The auction started promptly. The opening bid was set at one hundred thousand taels, with each subsequent bid required to be no less than ten thousand taels.

Although Chen Xifan had intended to push Mu Hanyan into a trap, he wasn’t wrong; once the griffin egg had been authenticated, picking it up cheaply was absolutely impossible. Mu Hanyan ”accidentally” landed a great bargain.

”Three hundred and eighty thousand!”

”Three hundred and ninety thousand!”

”Five hundred thousand!”

Neither backed down a step, unknowingly driving the bidding price up to five hundred thousand. Wu Songxing shook his head and did not bid any higher.

This price was already the limit for a griffin with insufficient lineage.

”Thank you, Brother Wu,” Zhu Yi clasped his hands and said.

”Five hundred thousand for the first time, five hundred thousand for the second time, five hundred thousand for the third time, sold!” Housekeeper Sun excitedly hammered down the gavel, concluding the sale!
