Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 564: Chapter 564: Foolish Husband 57

Yuan Chun, who lived like an old monster for thousands of years, couldn’t be bothered to deal with them. Every time, it went in one ear and out the other; she didn’t argue with them.

But the more she ignored them, the more aggressive they became.

Later, once when Second Sister-in-law Chen was mocking Yuan Chun for living a life more comfortable than a capitalist’s old lady, it was overheard by Mrs. Chen.

At that time, Second Sister-in-law Chen was seven or eight months pregnant, but since she had a job, she had to go to work every day with a big belly. So, Mrs. Chen, considering her daughter-in-law’s hardships, put up with it.

But as the conflicts increased after Second Sister-in-law Chen gave birth, Mrs. Chen and Vice Factory Director Chen decided to divide the family.

Mrs. Chen and her husband moved in with their youngest son, and they separated from their eldest and second sons.

Grandpa Chen and Grandma Chen also lived with Mr. and Mrs. Chen.

The four elders in the family lived with Yuan Chun and her husband, but since Chen the Second’s child was still young, during the day, he would bring the child to the old house for Grandma Chen and the now-retired Mrs. Chen to look after.

After work, Chen the Second would come and take the child home.

A few months later, Yuan Chun gave birth to a chubby baby boy, and the four elders of the Chen Family joyfully gave her a big red envelope.

The slow-witted husband, seeing that the grandparents and parents all gave his wife red envelopes, went home and took out all his pocket money, packed two big red envelopes, and secretly gave them to his wife, ”Wife, these are your red envelopes, and this one’s for our son, one each.”

Yuan Chun happily pinched his nose, ”Do you know what it means to give me a red envelope?”

”I know. Grandpa and Grandma and Mom and Dad said it’s a reward for you, and this is my reward for you. I packed my pocket money into the envelope.”

The slow-witted husband looked tenderly at his son and carefully touched his small hand, ”Wife, look, our son’s hands are so small, much smaller than mine.”

”Newborn babies are all small, don’t pinch his face, or he’ll drool.”

The slow-witted husband was so scared that he quickly withdrew his hand, ”Drool is too dirty, I won’t pinch his face.”

”How dare you dislike your son being dirty? From now on, when your son pees or poops, it’s your job to change his diapers.” Yuan Chun casually assigned this grand task to the slow-witted husband.

The slow-witted husband talked like he minded, but he didn’t really mind.

When he saw his son wet himself or needs a change, he eagerly helped him change diapers.

When the son was hungry, he would hold him to Yuan Chun to be fed.

Watching his son’s little mouth move while eating, the slow-witted husband secretly swallowed his saliva in envy.

The slow-witted husband wasn’t born foolish; it was his childhood mischief—climbing a tree, falling down, and hitting his head on Shi Tou the stone—that made him slow, but didn’t kill him.

So foolishness wasn’t hereditary.

And Yuan Chun’s son was particularly smart.

After learning to walk, he’d drag his dad around to play. If anyone who envied the Chen Family’s good life mocked that his dad was a fool, he would firmly argue back.

He’d even return home to complain to his great-grandparents and grandparents.

Happy years went by like this.

In 1977, when college entrance exams were reinstated, Yuan Chun participated and got accepted into a university in the provincial capital.

In truth, her scores were high enough for Beijing University, but she couldn’t bear to leave the slow-witted husband and their son, so she chose a university in the provincial capital instead.

In the first year, all new students had to live on campus, but since Yuan Chun was local, she went back to the Chen Family’s old house every weekend.

After she graduated, Director Chen, who had been promoted, pulled some strings to get Yuan Chun assigned to work at the post office of the steel plant.
