Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 555: Chapter 555: Foolish Husband 48

When Yuan Chun was returning to the provincial city, Mr. Wei and Mrs. Wei exhorted her to inform her elder brother and sister-in-law about her wedding plans.

Yuan Chun agreed enthusiastically in person, but once she turned around and returned to the factory, she automatically forgot about it.

In the previous life, the betrothal money given to the original owner by the Chen Family was not as much, but it was still considerable, amounting to three hundred and eighty-eight. Nevertheless, all that money was withheld by Zhao Dongxiu.

In the previous life, it was Zhao Dongxiu who took the initiative to ingratiate herself with the Chen Family, actively proposing the marriage to them. Thus, the Chen Family did not go to Dongpu Village for the proposal and handed the betrothal money and gifts directly to Wei Yuanfang and Zhao Dongxiu.

The dowry consisted of large items, which Zhao Dongxiu felt embarrassed to keep for herself due to fear of displeasing the Chen Family, fearing that they might not confirm her permanent role, putting her at a loss.

Yet the betrothal money was kept by Zhao Dongxiu, with not a penny brought to the marital family by the original owner.

Mr. Wei and Mrs. Wei came to attend their daughter’s wedding, and because of this issue, they argued with Zhao Dongxiu. But Zhao Dongxiu wouldn’t easily give back the money she’d swallowed.

In the end, it was Mr. Wei and Mrs. Wei who took out all their money to give the original owner some savings.

One day, while Yuan Chun was chopping eggplant, Wei Yuanfang suddenly appeared before her. Looking a bit giddy, he asked, ”Yuan Chun, I heard that you are engaged to Chen Sanbao, Vice Factory Director Chen’s son, is it true?”

Yuan Chun’s face was dark as could be, ”Brother, you’re back. Your sources are quite up-to-date, huh? But do you know that I was kicked out by Zhao Dongxiu?”

”What?” Wei Yuanfang couldn’t believe it, ”How could your sister-in-law possibly kick you out? Are you misunderstanding something?”

”Peh, misunderstanding my foot. Zhao Dongxiu drove me out loud enough for the entire family compound to hear. I’m not slandering her.” Yuan Chun sneered, ”Brother, I’m lucky to have found that the cafeteria was hiring temp workers, otherwise I couldn’t even afford a ticket home. Zhao Dongxiu hit me, scolded me, humiliated me, and threw me out. Brother, I’m telling you, from now on I only acknowledge you as my brother. I won’t recognize Zhao Dongxiu. Moving forward, she and I will part ways and never become family.”

”Brother, if you don’t want to see me as your sister, I have nothing to say. After all, you and Zhao Dongxiu are husband and wife, you’re the real family. As your sister, I’ll eventually marry and become an outsider.”

Wei Yuanfang didn’t take Yuan Chun’s words seriously at all. He assumed she was angry and speaking out of spite.

He comforted with a face full of helplessness, ”Yuan Chun, I really didn’t know about what happened this time. But I’ll go home and speak with your sister-in-law; don’t be angry at her.”

”Yuan Chun, is it true about your engagement to Chen Sanbao?” Wei Yuanfang asked again.

Yuan Chun nodded, ”It’s true. We’re going back to the hometown to get married next weekend. You can come, but I don’t want Zhao Dongxiu at my wedding banquet.”

Wei Yuanfang’s face turned somewhat dark, ”You’re getting married and it’s unreasonable for your sister-in-law not to attend. Village women with loose tongues could say some nasty things.”

That’s true.

She doesn’t live in the hometown so the gossip wouldn’t reach her ears, but Mr. Wei and Mrs. Wei would undoubtedly face ridicule, especially from those envious of her and her brother, those people who would only sour grapes, might even run to Mrs. Wei to laugh at her.

Wei Yuanchun reluctantly said, ”Alright, let her come. But she better not show me any attitude, or else I wouldn’t mind arguing with her in my bridal gown.”
