Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 288: Chapter 188: Personally Leading the Team and Plundering on the Side

When Qin Haonan heard the request, he instinctively wanted to object. But he suddenly realized something and swallowed his protest, saying, ”Alright, no problem. I’ll go to boat number three!”

After speaking, he gave Ren Yuanyang a meaningful smile.

Clearly, Qin Haonan thought Jin Ziyu had requested to be on boat number one because she had a thing for Ren Yuanyang.

But Jin Ziyu was only in it for the Chief’s food!

To put it simply: ’The food’s better when you stick with the Chief!’

Ren Yuanyang, of course, could see right through Jin Ziyu’s motive. He rolled his eyes, speechless, but didn’t object. Since the two parties involved had agreed, he figured he might as well let them be.

”We’ll set out immediately after lunch! Everyone go back and get ready!” Ren Yuanyang waved his hand, and the group left the base office one by one.

After the others had gone, Qin Haonan couldn’t help but ask, ”Chief, didn’t you say the trade was tomorrow morning? Why are we leaving at noon today? Is it because we have to travel a long way?”

Ren Yuanyang shook his head slightly. ”We’re not going far. It’s mainly because the toxin concentration in the rainwater is still increasing. I’m worried the Aircraft Carrier Base won’t be able to hold out.”

”Still increasing? Don’t tell me it’ll get to the point where it’s raining pure poison,” Qin Haonan said, surprised.

Ren Yuanyang shook his head. ”Who knows? Fortunately, the temperature doesn’t seem to be rising any further.”

”It must be around forty degrees by now! Any higher and people will really start dying from the heat,” Hua Lingfang estimated.

”According to the monitors at the Aircraft Carrier Base, the current outdoor temperature is 40.2 degrees Celsius.” As Ren Yuanyang spoke, he opened the map on his phone and began selecting a location for the trade.

”Figures.” Hua Lingfang turned to Xin Wan. ”Minister Xin, have all those medicines I prepared yesterday been distributed?”

Upon learning of the rising temperatures, Hua Lingfang had immediately prepared some medicine to prevent heatstroke and asked Xin Wan to distribute it to every member of the base.

”They’ve all been handed out,” Xin Wan confirmed with a nod.

Once Ren Yuanyang had confirmed the trading point, he put away his phone and said, ”With the heat these last couple of days, tell everyone to adjust their work schedules. If a task isn’t essential, they should wait. Giving them a couple of days off is also an option.”

”Understood, Chief!” Hua Lingfang and the others replied.

”And for the aquaculture farm, make sure the ice supply is maintained. If anyone else is feeling the heat, tell them to go stay on the yachts,” Ren Yuanyang continued.

”Don’t worry, Chief. The aquaculture farm has always had a plentiful supply of ice,” Xin Wan replied.

”It’s about time. Let’s have lunch.” Ren Yuanyang rose and headed for the dining hall.

After they finished lunch, Jin Ziyu and the others immediately rushed to the base office.

”Since everyone’s ready, let’s get on board!” With a grand wave of his hand, Ren Yuanyang led the group of nine as they boarded three speedboats.

Xin Wan had prepared plenty of meals for them; they just needed to heat them up in the speedboats’ microwaves.

”Boats Two and Three, follow Boat One. If anything happens and we get separated, just head straight for the trade location!”

To make communication easier, Ren Yuanyang had created a small group chat and sent the coordinates of the trade location to everyone in it.

”Roger that!” Jianghu and Qin Haonan replied immediately. They were the liaisons for Boat Two and Boat Three, respectively.

Qin Haonan looked at the trade location on the map and frowned slightly. ”Chief, this spot seems a bit close to the Aircraft Carrier Base. Won’t that mean we have to travel farther?”

Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly. ”We can’t always meet near our own base. Otherwise, it’ll be too easy for them to deduce our location. By changing it up from time to time, we keep them from pinning down our exact position.”

Qin Haonan was stunned for a moment before it dawned on him. ”I get it now!”

The three speedboats carefully navigated out of the Seventh-level Wind Sea Region. Lu Jiamei scanned the area but saw no sign of other vessels.

Only then did they accelerate into open water. But it wasn’t long before they spotted a speedboat. Judging by its design, it had to be from the Xi’an Base.

”Chief, should we go for it?” Qin Haonan sounded surprisingly excited.

Ren Yuanyang considered for a moment, then replied, ”We strike fast and finish it quickly.”

The Xi’an Base teams were in this area specifically to target Peach Blossom Base. Now that he’d found one of their boats on its own, Ren Yuanyang wasn’t about to be polite.

”Chief, I can swim over there underwater!” Yu Ren’s voice came from Boat Two; he was using Jianghu’s phone to communicate with Ren Yuanyang.

Lu Jiamei frowned slightly. ”But the water is full of toxins now!”

”Research from the Aircraft Carrier Base shows these toxins don’t have a major effect on fish or Evolvers,” Ren Yuanyang said in a low voice. ”But it’s still a toxin. It might affect Mutants. Are you sure you want to go in the water?”

”I don’t care if it affects me or not. I’ve got a score to settle with the Xi’an Base,” Yu Ren replied coldly. His previous injuries had been a ’gift’ from them.

If he weren’t a member of the Peach Blossom Base, he would have jumped into the water the instant he saw the enemy.

But now Ren Yuanyang was his leader, so he couldn’t just do as he pleased. He had to at least ask for permission.

Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly. ”Go. We’ll create a frontal distraction.”

”Thank you, Chief!” Yu Ren replied before jumping straight off the speedboat.

The moment he hit the water, Yu Ren shot forward like an arrow, swimming toward the enemy boat at incredible speed.

By this point, Ren Yuanyang’s boats were not far from the enemy vessel.

Strangely, however, there were no guards on its deck.

”Are they trying to pull an empty fort strategy on us?” Lu Jiamei’s brow furrowed.

Ren Yuanyang shook his head. ”I doubt it. We have three speedboats. If they saw us, their first instinct should have been to run.”
