Global Flood: I Survive on Duckweed

Chapter 252: Chapter 176: A Sit-Down Chat, Endless Shocks

According to current scientific knowledge, the water cycle on Blue Star is extremely stable. It’s simply impossible for rainfall to submerge the entire planet.

”That just goes to show you, anything is possible!” Ren Yuanyang replied with a smile.

Wang Jun nodded, lost in thought.

Long Zhan, on the other hand, turned his attention to the other dishes and was rather surprised. ”You have an impressive variety of vegetables at your base!”

”If it weren’t for the vegetable seeds your Aircraft Carrier Base provided, we wouldn’t have such a wide variety,” Ren Yuanyang said, raising his glass again. ”To you!”

Wang Jun raised his glass and shook his head. ”Even if we provide the seeds, you still have to be able to grow them. When it comes down to it, your base is the impressive one!”

”Exactly. I wanted to ask, do you grow your crops on ships, or on the surface of the water?” Long Zhan asked curiously. ”Of course, if that’s inconvenient to answer, you don’t have to!”

With that, Long Zhan downed the alcohol in his cup.

”It’s not inconvenient at all. We farm right on the surface of the water,” Ren Yuanyang replied as he refilled Long Zhan’s glass.

Wang Jun pressed on, ”Then how do you deal with the aquatic creatures?”

”We’ve cultivated a plant that repels fish. It works quite well on most species, but it has a limited effect on mutated fish,” Ren Yuanyang replied. ”If we encounter mutated fish, we have no choice but to fight them head-on!”

”Fight them head-on?” Long Zhan paused. ”You mean you get in the water and fight the fish directly?”

”Why else would we call it that?” Ren Yuanyang answered with a smile.

Seeing the smile on Ren Yuanyang’s face, both Wang Jun and Long Zhan felt he was joking. They assumed he was simply unwilling to reveal his true method for warding off the fish and didn’t press the issue further.

”Brother Yang, that fish-repelling plant you mentioned—is it really that effective?” Wang Jun asked.

”Based on our experience with it so far, the results are quite good,” Ren Yuanyang replied with a slight nod.

”In that case, would you be willing to sell some to us?” Wang Jun hesitated for a moment before he couldn’t help but ask. ”Our sea cultivation area is just too large. We have a limited number of Fish Repellers, a limited number of Evolvers, and even fewer offensive weapons!”

Since Ren Yuanyang had brought up the dizzy fish grass, he was, of course, prepared to sell it to them.

”Of course!” Ren Yuanyang agreed readily. ”Just figure out the size of your cultivation area, and then we can determine how many dizzy fish grass plants you’ll need.”

”Thank you. On behalf of everyone at the Aircraft Carrier Base, I’d like to propose a toast to you!” Wang Jun said, raising his glass in gratitude.

”You’re too kind, Captain Wang.” Ren Yuanyang clinked his glass against the other man’s and drained it.

”There have been rumors from Dawn Base for a while now that your base has some kind of explosive Iron Melon, and a Spray Melon that acts like a shotgun?” As a battle enthusiast, Long Zhan was far more interested in the plant-based weaponry.

Since it was already out in the open, Ren Yuanyang had no intention of keeping it a secret.

He nodded slightly. ”That’s right. Jiamei, bring out a few Iron Melons.”

Lu Jiamei acknowledged the request and headed into the cabin. A moment later, she returned carrying five Iron Melons.

Ren Yuanyang picked up two and handed one to each of the men. ”This is the Iron Melon we’ve cultivated,” he explained. ”Before the stem is removed, it’s completely stable. It won’t explode no matter how much you jostle it. But once you pull the stem off, it will detonate on impact.”

Wang Jun and Long Zhan curiously examined the Iron Melons in their hands.

”Give your men a heads-up. You two can give it a try,” Ren Yuanyang said with a smile.

”Can we really give it a try?” Long Zhan was itching to try, but he knew that weapons and ammunition weren’t things to be wasted.

”Go ahead. We have plenty more of these. Test it as much as you like,” Ren Yuanyang said with great magnanimity.

The two men were taken aback, then nodded in unison.

”Then I won’t hold back!” Long Zhan stood and walked toward the edge of the boat.

Wang Jun, meanwhile, called out to his guards, ”Don’t be alarmed! Captain Long and I are just testing a plant-based weapon!”

Hearing this, the guards were all amazed.

’Are we finally going to see what they look like?’ They had heard on the regional channel that Peach Blossom Base had plant-based weapons, but they had never seen them before.

Just as Long Zhan was about to pull the stem, he suddenly stopped. ”Brother Yang,” he asked, ”could I use my Wood-Type Superpower to pull the stem off while the Iron Melon is in mid-flight?”

”Theoretically, yes. But you’d have to manage the distance. If it flies beyond the range of your Mental Energy, you won’t be able to pull the stem out,” Ren Yuanyang confirmed with a nod. ”However, with the Iron Melons we’ve cultivated at our base, you’ll find it rather difficult to remove the stem with a Wood-Type Superpower.”

Long Zhan was taken aback. ”Difficult? Isn’t it still a plant?”

”It’s definitely a plant, but the average Wood Superpower User can’t actually control it,” Ren Yuanyang said with a smile, gesturing to the Iron Melon. ”You can give it a try right now.”

”I’ll do just that!” As one of the very first naturally evolved Wood Superpower Users, Long Zhan wasn’t one to back down so easily.

He immediately focused his mind, activated his Superpower, and tried to control the Iron Melon.

But to his astonishment, he quickly discovered that while he could sense it, he couldn’t control it at all.

”How is that possible?” Long Zhan’s face was a mask of disbelief.

Wang Jun chuckled. ”Brother Yang already warned you, but you didn’t believe him. Do you believe him now?”

Long Zhan nodded and gave Ren Yuanyang a thumbs-up. ”The team at your base in charge of plant cultivation is incredible!”

Ren Yuanyang just smiled and shook his head.
