Chapter 1145: Chapter 1179: Having a Meal with Nangong Bing

The place for dinner was originally agreed upon, but Lin Zifeng had just encountered a hiccup, delaying him a bit on the road.

This made Nangong Bing, who was particularly strict about time, start to get a bit anxious.

This Western restaurant is considered quite famous in Zhonghai, with top-tier Western chefs hired from abroad.

It’s also Lin Zifeng’s first time dining at this Western restaurant.

“Sir, how many of you?”

The waiter walked forward with a smile.

“One.”

Lin Zifeng raised his index finger, looking around to see where Nangong Bing was sitting.

“Do you have a reservation, sir?”

The waiter asked.

“No.” Lin Zifeng shook his head. He never really liked going to such foreign restaurants; he couldn’t get used to the food there, especially steak, which, frankly, is just a piece of beef made to look nice on top, but doesn’t really have much flavor.

There are two types of people who eat Western cuisine: either the truly wealthy, hoping for high-quality taste.

Or the other type, who are wannabes; they don’t think Western food is particularly tasty, yet they insist on dining in such places. To be blunt, they’re just pretending, and it can be quite costly too.

“Sorry, sir, but we don’t have any seats available inside.” The waiter said.

“It’s fine, you can go about your work. My wife is waiting for me inside, I’ll just find her myself.”

Lin Zifeng waved his hand and headed inside.

“But…”

The waiter was about to say something, but Lin Zifeng was already walking into the restaurant.

“Sir! Sir, could you tell me the table number of your wife then?” Without knowing the details, the waiter stopped Lin Zifeng, afraid that this casually dressed man might not be up to anything good.

“I don’t know.” Lin Zifeng shook his head silently; the plan was just to have dinner at this Western restaurant today, but she hadn’t told him which table.

“Sir, we have a rule here that without reservations, we can’t disturb other guests dining.”

“Alright, then I’ll call her.” Lin Zifeng pulled out his phone to call Nangong Bing, then informed the waiter. This finally cleared up the misunderstanding.

At a window seat on the second floor, Nangong Bing was elegantly dressed, squinting her eyes and enjoying a fine wine.

“You’re here.” Seeing Lin Zifeng come up, Nangong Bing seemed a bit pleased.

“What do you want to eat?”

“Whatever you eat, I’ll eat too.” Lin Zifeng wasn’t picky.

Nangong Bing nodded, asked the waiter for two servings of specialty steak, and a bottle of 1982 Rafi—

Not everyone can enjoy a bottle of 1982 Rafi. The waiter’s eyes lit up upon hearing this, realizing the distinct identity of the pair, and he left with a smile.

“Looking at you, you seem in a good mood today.” Lin Zifeng stared at her, scanning from top to bottom, and indeed, the empress’s outfit was very eye-catching today: a deep cyan straight-cut versatile and simple autumn outfit, with two small silk black bow ties tied at the sleeves. The choice of color and fabric looked pleasant and elegant.

It’s her first time dressing like this, aside from OL professional attire and classical dresses.

Her two slender, fair legs crossed enticingly, and the area between them, an alluring treasure, was held particularly tight…

“Hey, staring at me like that, aren’t you afraid people might mistake you for a pervert?” Nangong Bing’s face blushed slightly as she reminded him.

Uh—

Lin Zifeng was taken aback, blushing with embarrassment, and awkwardly said: “What misunderstanding? You’re my wife, what is there to fear?”

“Alright, alright, enough chatter. There’s something I want to ask you. Do you know what’s going on with the Huayu Group?”

Clunk!

Lin Zifeng’s head buzzed; he had a feeling this dinner wouldn’t be as peaceful as hoped.

“Huayu? No idea.” Lin Zifeng shook his head.

He definitely did not want to let the empress know he established Huayu; it wouldn’t benefit her.

Of course, she would know sooner or later, just not now.

“Ruyan is now the CEO of the Huayu Group; you should know this, right?” Her keen ability to observe expressions had her gazing intently at Lin Zifeng’s face, trying to find a crack.

But unfortunately, Lin Zifeng’s sly demeanor was completely opaque, preventing Nangong Bing from seeing through him.

“Wow! That spendthrift woman actually became the CEO of Huayu? That’s incredible!” Lin Zifeng exaggeratedly exclaimed, almost causing Nangong Bing’s nose to twist in irritation.

“Do you really not know or are you pretending not to?”

“I know a bit, but not very clearly.” Lin Zifeng confessed: “She told us the good news last night, but I don’t understand why Huayu Group would choose her as CEO; it’s kind of perplexing.”

“Maybe they appreciate Ruyan’s capabilities, who knows.”

Just then, the waiter delivered their two plates of Western cuisine.

Ha, capabilities?

Choosing her as the Huayu CEO was already a huge risk, although Lin Zifeng wasn’t sure if Liu Ruyan really had the capability; it was still a venture investment.

“Are there any more needs for you both?” the waiter politely asked.

“No, thank you.” Nangong Bing nodded, and the waiter retreated.

Looking at the steaming hot steak before him, Lin Zifeng even hesitated to dig in.

“Have you never eaten Western food?”

“I have, but rarely in places like this; it’s too costly.”

With a knife in one hand and a fork in the other.

He felt this method of eating was really awkward, wondering how those foreigners managed to eat, just a slab of beef yet requiring a knife and a fork.

It would be better just to fork it up and bite it straight away.

“Hey, a lot of people are watching you, could you eat differently? Don’t you know how to eat Western food?”

“I do, but eating like this is more convenient.” Lin Zifeng did not care how others viewed him; as long as he got fed, that was enough.

“…”

Nangong Bing was helpless. She simply let him eat this way, since it was all about eating eventually.

“By the way, what do you think about this? Will the rise of Huayu impact Zhonghai’s business?”

“Let’s eat first. We’ll talk about this afterward. Huayu’s rise involves the film and entertainment route, which doesn’t intersect with Tianyu Technology, plus Huayu’s CEO is Liu Ruyan, your good friend. You can always exchange and share ideas in the future, progressing together.”

Honestly, this accursed steak was surprisingly tough to gnaw, and damn the restaurant for making it half-cooked, half-raw. People with poor teeth would certainly find it hard to chew.

“Alright.” Nangong Bing nodded; she asked out of curiosity, enjoying pondering ideas alone by her nature.
