Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune

Just then, a deliberate cough sounded from behind them. Nathan Fawcett let go of Anne Sutton, who also turned around to see Anna Linden and her assistant, Chloe Chase.

Anne Sutton felt a little awkward seeing them.

Anna Linden just gave them an indifferent glance, walked over, and asked, ”How’s Stella?”

Nathan Fawcett said, ”It’s nothing serious, just a cold.”

Anna Linden walked through the door, and Chloe Chase followed her in.

Anne Sutton stood beside Nathan Fawcett, still feeling awkward. She looked at him and pinched his arm.

Nathan Fawcett looked at her and said comfortingly, ”It’s fine. They didn’t see anything.”

”They’re not blind. Of course they saw,” Anne Sutton said. ”By the way, how’s Stella Shields? What did the doctor say? Is it serious?”

”She had a bit of a fever when we brought her in last night, but it’s nothing serious now.”

Anne Sutton said, ”I saw she was in the news. It said you brought her to the hospital for an abortion and suggested you were her sugar daddy. But now that I think about it, you kind of are her sugar daddy.”

”For some reason, the term ’sugar daddy’ doesn’t sound very good to me.”

”...What’s so bad about it?” Anne Sutton said. ”Is it wrong to compliment you on being rich?”

Nathan Fawcett looked at her and said, ”Alright, all that news online is just baseless gossip. It’s nothing, so don’t take it to heart.”

”Who said I’m taking it to heart?” Anne Sutton retorted. ”She’s trending right now. It’s pushed to my feed the moment I go online, so it’s hard to avoid. Anyway, you should go home and get some sleep.”

Nathan Fawcett listened to her, gave her one last look, and said, ”I’ll head back first, then.”

After he left, Anne Sutton didn’t leave right away.

She returned to Stella Shields’s hospital room.

Stella Shields was lying in the hospital bed while Anna Linden was asking about her condition.

She said, ”I’m fine, Auntie. Don’t worry!”

Anna Linden looked at her and said, ”Even if you’re filming, you have to take care of your health. If something happened to you, how would I explain it to your parents?”

She had lived with Stella Shields for several years. During her most difficult times, Stella had always been by her side, so Anna Linden had long since come to treat her like her own daughter.

Stella Shields said, ”Thank you for your concern, Auntie. I’m fine.”

Seeing Anne Sutton walk in, her gaze fell upon her and she said, ”Thank you for bringing me breakfast, Anne.”

Although Anne Sutton knew she was just putting on an act, she chose to play along. ”Of course.”

Stella Shields picked up the bowl, took two mouthfuls of the congee, and then immediately spat it out.

Seeing this, Anna Linden grew worried. ”What’s wrong?”

Stella Shields said, ”I don’t have much of an appetite. I’m sorry, I’ve wasted Anne’s kind gesture.”

’Watching her affected performance,’ Anne Sutton thought. ’If Nathan hadn’t told me she just had a fever that already broke, I would have thought she had some terminal illness.’

Anna Linden said, ”If you can’t eat, then don’t force yourself. Just get some rest.”

Stella Shields said, ”Thank you for your concern, Auntie.”

Chloe Chase looked at Anna Linden and said, ”It’s time.”

Hearing this, Anna Linden stood up and said to Stella Shields, ”I have to go to a meeting. You get some rest. It’s a good thing your brother is here with you.”

”Thank you, Auntie.”

Anne Sutton glanced at Stella Shields and followed Anna Linden out of the room. Since Anna had a meeting and Anne was now part of her team, she naturally had to attend as well.

Watching Anne Sutton leave with Anna Linden, Stella Shields, who had been sitting up, slumped down. The pitiful, delicate expression on her face vanished.

Justin Shields said, ”Feeling better now?”

Stella Shields said, ”What could possibly be wrong with me?”

She just wanted to make Nathan Fawcett bring her to the hospital.

Stella Shields looked at Justin Shields and said, ”I hear those two have been getting along well lately. Haven’t you done anything about it?”

Justin Shields said, ”There’s nothing I can do! Anne doesn’t like me, so what am I supposed to do?”

Stella Shields said, ”You’re really something else. You can’t even handle one woman.”

”Then what about Ethan Linden?” Justin Shields retorted. ”If you’re so capable, why can’t you win him over?”

Stella Shields choked, left speechless by Justin Shields’s comeback.

She asked, ”Will he come see me later?”

’Although, she knew Nathan Fawcett definitely wouldn’t come to see her!’

Before, when Anne Sutton hadn’t appeared, he would always come to see her whenever she got sick, and he wouldn’t leave until he saw she was better.

But now...

Anne Sutton had arrived, and he was no longer good to her.

Even bringing her to the hospital last night was something he only agreed to after she had pleaded with him endlessly.

Justin Shields said, ”Just focus on your acting career. I don’t think you’re in his heart.”

”I will never give up,” Stella Shields said. ”Auntie said they’ll break up eventually. When they do, I’ll still have a chance.”

Justin Shields looked at his sister, not knowing what to say.

He unlocked his phone and showed her the news. ”Did you arrange this?”

Stella Shields took the phone, looked at the story about herself, and said, ”I haven’t had any news lately, so I had to create some buzz! Besides, people love seeing news about me and Ethan Linden.”

Stella Shields’s public persona was that of the girlfriend of the Head of the Linden Family—the future Family Head’s Wife.

She held the phone, reading the news articles on it, and the corners of her mouth lifted into a smirk.

Although today’s headlines didn’t explicitly name Ethan Linden.

But many people in the comments had already guessed it was him from the blurry photos in the article.

And now tons of people were hoping for her and Ethan Linden to get together!

After all, in everyone’s eyes, the two were childhood sweethearts. A huge star and the Head of the Linden Family—they were a perfect match.

Stella Shields was happily scrolling through the comments when suddenly, the page showed a broken link. She refreshed it and immediately sat bolt upright. She discovered that the trending news story had been completely deleted.

She looked at Justin Shields and asked, ”Who deleted this story?”

Justin Shields took her phone to look, discovering that the news story that had been a headline all morning was now completely gone.

Not only was it taken down from all the major websites, but even the related comments and search terms had been wiped!

Stella Shields exclaimed, ”Who was it? Who could be so hateful?”

Justin Shields said, ”Who else besides him would have this kind of power?”

Only Ethan Linden could erase all traces of it with such speed.

Besides, no one else would be bored enough to go out of their way to delete news about Stella Shields.

Stella Shields sat on the hospital bed, looking vexed. ”Is he that unwilling to be associated with me in any way? Does he really find me that repulsive?”

Justin Shields looked at her, unsure how to comfort her.

Anne Sutton was in the middle of the meeting. Anna Linden had just asked her to come up and share her thoughts. Right after she finished and returned to her seat, she saw her phone screen light up with a message from Nathan Fawcett: ”Go online and take a look.”

Anne Sutton was a little confused. She went online, opened a news site, and saw that the stories about Stella Shields that had been all over the pages this morning were now gone.

Anne Sutton raised an eyebrow. ’This is... What’s going on? How is all the news gone?’

Nathan Fawcett’s reply came: ”I’m going to sleep.”

”...”

’So, he deliberately deleted the false news about him and Stella Shields and then messaged me just to take credit for it?’

’This man?’

’Could he be any more childish?’
