Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune

He placed some food on Anne Sutton’s plate and asked, ”How’s the food?”

Anne Sutton nodded. ”Mm-hmm.”

”How does it compare to last night’s dinner?”

Anne Sutton looked at Nathan Fawcett and laughed. ”Today’s is better. Happy now?”

’This man and his competitive streak!’

Nathan Fawcett said, ”As long as you like it. From now on, whatever you want to eat, I’ll have someone make it for you.”

”Then what about you?” Anne Sutton looked at Nathan Fawcett. ”Don’t you dislike food made by other people? If I don’t cook for you, what will you eat?”

Nathan Fawcett glanced at her hands. ”I’ll make do. I’ll eat whatever you’re eating. I can handle Westhaven Cuisine too. I can’t let you cook for me anymore! If anyone’s going to cook, it should be me cooking for you. I’ll learn how, and then I’ll cook for you.”

Anne Sutton looked at this man who was so good at making empty promises. ”If you’re just doing this to compete with Justin Shields, there’s really no need.”

Nathan Fawcett said, ”Of course there’s a need. I can’t lose to him in any aspect.”

’On second thought, it really isn’t right for me to keep having Anne Sutton cook for me.’

’I never considered how hard her days are!’

’She’s a talented cook, but she’s not a maid or a professional chef.’

So he decided to change his ways and stop taking her efforts for granted.

Anne Sutton looked at Nathan Fawcett, then lowered her head and focused on her meal.

The butler stood to one side and said to Nathan Fawcett, ”Last night, Ryan Linden put that house up for sale. It sold for eighty million.”

Lana Langley had tried to stop him, but failed.

Nathan Fawcett asked, ”Is he planning to pay back the money?”

The butler replied, ”No, he used it to bet on a soccer match. He was trying to score a big win to recoup his losses.”

Nathan Fawcett frowned. ”The man’s courting death!”

If he had actually sold the house and paid back the money, Nathan Fawcett might have considered forgiving him.

But instead...

He was utterly incorrigible!

To think he still believed he could turn things around...

Sitting to the side, Anne Sutton overheard the butler and asked, ”So, did he win?”

Nathan Fawcett said, ”Let’s just wait and see!”

”Such a nice house, and he just sold it like that?”

A house that could sell for eighty million couldn’t have been shabby.

Nathan Fawcett said, ”He bought that house for eighty million. At current market prices, it would be worth over a hundred million, no problem. He was desperate for cash, which is why he sold it for eighty million... He’ll be crying about it sooner or later.”

Hearing this, Anne Sutton thought of Lana Langley and said, ”I just feel bad for his wife and child!”

The butler looked at Anne Sutton. ”Ms. Sutton, didn’t you use to dislike Lana Langley quite a bit?”

Anne Sutton glanced at the butler. ”It’s just that when I see her, I’m reminded of my mother. All these years she’s been married to my dad, no matter what he did, she could pretend she didn’t see it. She always thought that endurance could solve any problem!”

That was why seeing Lana Langley indulge Ryan Linden so much made Anne Sutton so anxious.

Nathan Fawcett looked at Anne Sutton and asked, ”How has your mother been lately?”

”She’s still in the hospital,” Anne Sutton said. ”Someone’s looking after her, so she’s doing okay.”

Because Anne Sutton was working here now, she couldn’t keep going back to Westhaven.

But Sharon Sutton was there, and Anne Sutton had also hired a caregiver, so there wasn’t much to worry about.

...

Two days later, in the afternoon, Anne Sutton was driving back from the hospital. As she passed Ryan Linden’s house, she saw Lana Langley standing out front, tugging at his clothes and sobbing. ”See? I told you so! I told you not to gamble, not to gamble, and now everything is gone.”

Not only had he failed to pay back the company’s money, but now he had lost the house as well.

Ryan Linden said, ”How was I supposed to know there’d be an upset! I thought it was a sure win!”

”Tell me, what do we do now? Our child’s home is gone! What’s going to happen to him?”

Their family was already struggling as it was.

Now that Ryan Linden owed the company money, he was sure to be fired.

Ryan Linden looked at Lana Langley and said, ”Go talk to Dad. Let’s sell this house, too!”

He didn’t dare face his father himself, so he could only send Lana Langley.

Lana Langley said, ”Now you want to sell the very house we live in? This was left to you by your grandfather! You’re really insane!”

”Then what am I supposed to do? I’m going to die!”

Lana Langley said, ”I don’t care! Go find Ethan Linden! You explain it to him yourself.”

”No!” Ryan Linden said. ”If I go to him, I’m completely finished at the company.”

Anne Sutton pulled her car over to the side, watching the drama unfold...

Ryan Linden’s pathetic and pitiful state left Anne Sutton speechless.

The main issue was Lana Langley...

She hugged Ryan Linden’s legs and begged, ”Go beg Ethan! Husband, our family can’t go on like this, I’m begging you! The other house is already gone. If this one is gone too, we’ll have nothing left!”

Ryan Linden said, ”You’re so annoying.”

Annoyed at being held, he kicked out. Lana Langley lost her balance and fell onto the road. A car was approaching and nearly hit her...

Thankfully, the driver braked fast!

...

In the hospital, Anne Sutton looked at Lana Langley, who was lying in a hospital bed. Her head was injured and had already been bandaged.

Anna Linden walked in and asked, ”What happened?”

Seeing Anna Linden, Lana Langley said, ”Aunt.”

Ryan Linden, who was also standing by, said, ”Aunt!”

Anna Linden looked at Lana Langley. ”How did you end up like this?”

Ryan Linden said, ”It was Ethan Linden! He’s trying to drive our family to its death! Lana Langley said she didn’t want to live anymore. I couldn’t hold her back, and she was almost hit by a car.”

Hearing this, Anna Linden frowned. She remembered that she had spoken to Nathan Fawcett a few days ago, but he hadn’t listened to her.

She walked out of the room to make a phone call.

Anne Sutton saw this and followed her out. Anna Linden was on the phone with Nathan Fawcett, saying, ”You get your ass over here right now.”

Anne Sutton looked at Anna Linden. ”Dr. Linden.”

Anna Linden turned around, her gaze falling on her. ”What do you want to say?”

Anne Sutton said, ”Things didn’t happen the way Ryan Linden described.”

As luck would have it, Anne Sutton had witnessed the entire incident today.

She hadn’t expected that this couple would still be colluding to push the blame onto Nathan Fawcett.

Anna Linden said, ”What do you mean? You think I’m wrongly accusing Ethan Linden? I know you’re on his side, but this is a Linden Family matter. You don’t understand! And I can’t be bothered to explain it to you.”

Ryan Linden was Ethan Linden’s savior.

Nathan Fawcett was currently using Ethan Linden’s identity.

The more ruthless he acted, the more suspicious people would become.

That was why she hoped Nathan Fawcett would handle problems Ethan’s way, not his own.

Anne Sutton said, ”But this was Ryan Linden’s fault in the first place! He was the one who sold the house and used the money to gamble. What does that have to do with Nathan Fawcett?”

’Never mind my own relationship with Nathan Fawcett!’

But since Anne Sutton had witnessed what happened, she didn’t want Nathan Fawcett to be misunderstood.

”What are you talking about?” Just as Anne Sutton finished speaking, Ryan Linden came out and shoved her aside. ”What nonsense are you spouting in front of my aunt?”
