Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune

After all, as long as she was simply with Nathan Fawcett and living at the Linden Family estate, no one had the right to say much. But if she were to marry Ethan Linden, she could potentially take a share of the family’s assets, and they would never agree to that.

Sure enough, after hearing what Caleb Summers said, Ryan Linden looked at Nathan Fawcett and said, ”Ethan, are you really planning to marry this woman and make her the Family Head’s Wife?”

Hearing Ryan Linden’s words, Nathan Fawcett glanced at Anne Sutton and said, ”And why not?”

Ryan Linden said, ”Her...? I’d like to see how you could possibly have the power to make her the Family Head’s Wife.”

’What he hadn’t expected was that Caleb Summers was actually taking Anne Sutton’s side?’

’Caleb Summers was actually supporting Ethan Linden’s decision to marry a woman like her?’

’Is he blind?’

Nathan Fawcett said, ”You don’t need to worry about it, Ryan. I know what I’m doing.”

Ryan Linden said, ”Your mother won’t agree, and your maternal grandfather certainly won’t either. Ethan, don’t think that there’s no one left in this family who can control you.”

He had originally come to apologize, but now he was starting to forget his place again.

Seeing this, Nathan Fawcett’s lips curled into a slight smile, but he said nothing.

Victor Linden looked at Nathan Fawcett and said, ”Ethan, about Ryan... just let him come back to the company! He has a wife and child at home, and Lana Langley is in the hospital right now. He’s already in a miserable state. We’re all family, don’t push him any further.”

Nathan Fawcett said, ”Leaving the company won’t kill him. He’s an able-bodied man, he can find other work. When he was at the company, his temper just got worse! He’s even started hitting his own wife. Look at him now. Domestic abuse, gambling... has he picked up a single good habit? The company can’t accept a person like him.”

Victor Linden looked at Nathan Fawcett and said, ”Not even for your uncle’s sake?”

”It’s precisely for your sake that I didn’t have him sent to prison. Eighty million is enough to do it.”

Nathan Fawcett said, ”If you’d like to pay the money back for him, Uncle, you can. But even if you sell your house and pay it all back, I still won’t let him return to the company. I hope you can understand that.”

Nathan Fawcett’s attitude was unyielding.

Victor Linden said, ”Ethan, you’re really turning your back on your own family! Even if your grandfather were here, he wouldn’t be this unreasonable.”

Seeing his uncle resort to this kind of talk after failing to get his way, Nathan Fawcett said, ”Uncle, you also bear responsibility for raising your son to be this way. I already gave him a chance! He’s your son, not mine. Why should I indulge him the same way you do?”

”Fine, fine, fine!” Victor Linden was livid at Nathan Fawcett’s words. ”From now on, just pretend you don’t have an uncle! I can’t believe I wasted so much affection on you when you were a child!”

With that, he stormed out.

Ryan Linden shot a glare at Nathan Fawcett and followed him out.

Before he could walk out the door, Caleb Summers quickly spoke up. ”Stop.”

Ryan Linden turned back and glanced at Caleb Summers, wondering what he wanted now. ”What is it?”

Caleb Summers said, ”You may have left the company, but don’t forget the money you owe. I’ll be sure to remember this debt for you.”

Before, Nathan Fawcett hadn’t pursued the eighty million out of respect for Victor Linden.

But now that they’d had a falling out, there was no reason to let the debt slide!

Otherwise, they’d just take a mile for every inch given and think they were untouchable!

Ryan Linden’s face darkened when he heard Caleb Summers. ’Ethan hadn’t even mentioned making him pay the money back. Why was Caleb sticking his nose in other people’s business?’

Although there was no way his family could possibly repay the money right now, he didn’t want to lose face. ”I’ll pay it back!”

With that said, he walked out.

Standing off to the side, Anne Sutton looked at Caleb Summers and said, ”That was pretty clever.”

Caleb Summers said, ”Thank you for the compliment. I just feel that since they were so disrespectful to Ethan, there’s no reason to forgive them! They should be made to pay back the money! Ethan, what do you think?”

Caleb Summers looked at Nathan Fawcett.

Nathan Fawcett nodded. ”Mm.”

...

Ryan Linden followed his father out and said, ”Dad, Caleb Summers just told me I have to pay back the eighty million to the company!”

Victor Linden said, ”And whose fault is that! You lost a perfectly good job. Tell me, why did you have to gamble? Now you’ve made a mess of our family’s situation. Are you happy now?”

’Without the company, he was just a good-for-nothing!’

’But if he stayed at the company, people would at least give him some respect!’

Victor Linden had always been very concerned with his reputation and didn’t want people to think he had raised a loser.

Ryan Linden said, ”That’s because Ethan Linden was always targeting me! It’s not my fault! How was I supposed to know he had no regard for our past? No matter what, I did save him when we were kids.”

Victor Linden said, ”Don’t you think the Ethan Linden of today is completely different from how he used to be?”

Ryan Linden nodded. ”Of course! I’ve felt that for a while now! If it were the old Ethan, how could he possibly treat me like this! I don’t think he’s Ethan Linden at all! I think he’s Nathan Fawcett.”

”Do you have any old photos of Nathan Fawcett?” Victor Linden looked at Ryan Linden and said, ”Go find a photo of Nathan Fawcett. I want to see what he looks like!”

Although everyone suspected that the current Ethan Linden was actually Nathan Fawcett, they had no proof, so there was nothing they could do.

Hearing Victor Linden’s words, Ryan Linden said, ”I don’t have any.”

”If you don’t have one, go to Westhaven and find one!” Victor Linden ordered. ”It’s better than just sitting here and waiting to be destroyed!”

Before, when Ryan Linden was still at the company, he hadn’t been this desperate.

But things were different now!

Nathan Fawcett had already cornered them!

They would definitely find a way to bring him down.

Ryan Linden said, ”I’ll go tomorrow.”

”First, go to the hospital and make things right with your wife!” Victor Linden said. ”Don’t be so hard on her! The most important thing for a man is to treat his wife well. If you dote on her, it makes you look good, too! Making a mess like this, now even your aunt won’t speak to you! You know she can’t stand men who are unkind to their wives!”

Hearing this, Ryan Linden nodded. ”Yes.”

...

He went to the hospital to see Lana Langley. He took care of her for a night and told her about his trip to Westhaven.

Upon hearing this, Lana Langley asked, ”What are you going to Westhaven for?”

Ryan Linden huffed, ”Ethan Linden has already kicked me out of the company!”

”He’s really showing no mercy,” Lana Langley said. ”Don’t you think he’s completely different from before?”

Ryan Linden said, ”Yeah! That’s why Dad told me to go to Westhaven and dig up some information on Nathan Fawcett. He thinks we might find something unexpected.”

Lana Langley said, ”Then you should go!”

Now that Ryan Linden had lost his job, she was also very anxious.

’For the time being, she wasn’t going to fuss over other matters!’

...

Anne Sutton rested at home for two days before returning to the hospital. When she got back, Lana Langley was still hospitalized and hadn’t been discharged.

Anne Sutton walked into the hospital room and saw her lying in bed. Her son, Chubby, was beside her, peeling an orange for her, looking quite dutiful.

Seeing Anne Sutton enter, Lana Langley’s face filled with suspicion as she asked, ”What are you doing here?”
