Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune

Anne Sutton lay beside him, feeling utterly embarrassed, and said nothing.

Nathan Fawcett looked at her red-rimmed eyes and said, ”I’m sorry. I really didn’t know before.”

Anne Sutton said, ”I sent you messages.”

She had once told him about all her grievances.

But they never reached him!

’How ridiculous!’

Nathan Fawcett looked at her and said, ”After I came over here, my mom confiscated all my communication devices. I was recovering for a long time after my surgery. I thought my dad was over there and would handle everything well. It’s my fault!”

’Thinking about it now, she has every right to hate me.’

’After all, I was the one who didn’t figure out the truth...’

He only knew that when he went back to see her and the child, he saw her with Charles Prescott.

So, he just assumed they were together!

Anne Sutton said, ”It’s all in the past. What’s the use of talking about it now? For Ian’s sake, I’ve forgotten everything that happened before.”

After speaking, she closed her eyes and fell silent.

Nathan Fawcett lay on his pillow, gazing at her, and gently took her hand.

Knowing she had to work the next day, he didn’t disturb her.

Nathan Fawcett lay beside her. He had been feeling unwell and thought he was very sleepy, but now, seeing her, he couldn’t fall asleep.

He remembered the first time Anne Sutton came to Veridia. She had gotten drunk, and in front of him, she had hugged him and called him Nathan...

’She must have liked me back then, right?’

’Otherwise, she wouldn’t have called out my name when she was drunk!’

But now he had made her angry, so Anne Sutton was completely ignoring him. Getting her to even glance at him was much, much harder than before.

...

In the morning, Anne Sutton woke up to find herself on Nathan Fawcett’s bed. And, because she tossed and turned so much, one of her arms and one of her legs were draped over him.

They had been keeping their distance lately, and it had been a long time since she had been this close to him. For a moment, Anne Sutton’s heart stopped.

She came to her senses, looked at the man, moved her arm and leg off him, and prepared to get out of bed.

Nathan Fawcett’s voice sounded from behind her. ”You’re awake?”

For an instant, it felt like they were an old married couple.

Anne Sutton said, ”I’m going to the bathroom.”

With that, she went into the restroom.

Nathan Fawcett lay in bed, leaning against the pillow. He watched her back as she entered the restroom and the corners of his mouth lifted into a smile.

’Sleeping with her, even though we didn’t do anything, already makes me so happy!’

He felt wonderful inside.

People are such strange creatures. Before, when he could be with her and do whatever he wanted, he didn’t treasure it.

But now that she refused to acknowledge him, just sleeping next to her for one night made Nathan Fawcett feel overjoyed!

Having her by his side gave him a very warm feeling.

He was no longer just a bachelor, no longer alone.

’No wonder people always say you should find a wife...’

’No wonder I was so miserable when I didn’t have a wife.’

Soon, Anne Sutton finished in the bathroom, washed her hands, and came back. Seeing Nathan Fawcett lying in bed with a smile on his face, lost in thought, she asked, ”Are you all better now?”

Hearing her words, Nathan Fawcett’s smile immediately vanished. He put on a straight face and said, ”No.”

”Then what were you smiling about?” Anne Sutton looked at the man, speechless. ”You looked like you were in a great mood.”

Remembering how she had cried like an idiot outside his door last night, with her eyes still a little swollen, Anne Sutton felt a bit awkward.

But...

What had happened in those years was incredibly painful for her.

Whenever she thought about that time, her heart would ache with sorrow.

Whenever she thought of Ian, she would be overcome with grief...

Even though the outcome was good now!

Her son was still alive...

But whenever she recalled the past, she would still lose control of her emotions.

Nathan Fawcett said, ”Are you heading to work?”

Anne Sutton replied, ”In a bit. I’ll go make you something to eat. Just have porridge today at home, and don’t eat anything else spicy.”

”Oh,” Nathan Fawcett said. ”Then from now on, you’re not allowed to eat with Justin Shields. And no spicy food!”

”...Are you taking this chance to make demands of me?” Anne Sutton shot a look at the man who was clearly pushing his luck. ”How about I just don’t bother cooking? I feel like being lazy anyway. You can eat whatever you want!”

”Don’t,” Nathan Fawcett said. ”The porridge you make is delicious.”

’Her cooking skills really have me wrapped around her finger.’

Nathan Fawcett realized this woman was his kryptonite!

’The food she makes is delicious!’

’And I like her, too.’

...

’Before, I felt that heaven had been unfair to me!’

’Now I realize, heaven is quite fair after all!’

’Otherwise... how could someone as picky as me have ended up meeting her?’

It was as if her appearance was tailor-made just for him.

Anne Sutton was a gift prepared for him by the heavens.

Anne Sutton said, ”Well, you can go back to sleep then!”

She went to the kitchen.

Anna Linden got up and saw Anne Sutton busy. She asked, ”I heard Ethan is sick?”

Seeing that she cared enough to ask about Nathan Fawcett, Anne Sutton said, ”He ate too much spicy food last night, so he has an upset stomach. I’m making him some porridge.”

”Doesn’t he dislike spicy food? Why on earth was he eating it?” Anna Linden found this strange as well.

Her question caught Anne Sutton off guard.

Anne Sutton was a little embarrassed.

Anna Linden looked at her and said, ”Since you’re making porridge, make some for me too.”

Anne Sutton looked at her and said, ”Didn’t you say you don’t like my cooking?”

”I haven’t had much of an appetite lately.” Anna Linden found it strange herself.

’Lately, nothing has tasted good, and I’ve just been craving a bite of Anne Sutton’s cooking.’

She hadn’t expected herself to be so weak-willed.

’To think I’d actually ask for food made by Anne Sutton.’

Anne Sutton looked at her and smiled. ”Alright.”

Once the porridge was ready, Anne Sutton ladled a bowl for Anna Linden, then prepared portions for Ian and Nathan Fawcett. She set the rest aside for Nathan Fawcett to eat for lunch.

...

’This man is always so much trouble,’ Anne Sutton thought helplessly.

Anna Linden sat to the side, sipping the porridge Anne Sutton had made. Stella Shields came down from upstairs, saw Anna Linden sitting there, and walked over. ”Auntie.”

She looked to be in a good mood today.

Anna Linden looked at her and smiled. ”Morning.”

Stella Shields sat down and said to Anna Linden, ”I have to go out in a bit. I probably won’t be back for the next couple of days.”

Anna Linden said, ”What’s going on?”

Stella Shields said, ”The company arranged a new show for me. It’s a pretty good script, even better than the one Ethan took away before. Did you talk to Ethan? Otherwise, why would he suddenly arrange a new show for me?”

Even though Justin Shields was the one who notified her, she knew...

Anna Linden must have been the one to pull some strings!

Anna Linden said, ”Well then, do your best! You like being in the entertainment industry, and you’re suited for it. Take advantage of your youth and film more good shows.”

Stella Shields said, ”Thank you, Auntie. You’re the best to me.”

Seeing Anna Linden eating porridge, she wanted some too. She looked at the auntie in charge of the kitchen who was standing nearby and said, ”Please get me a bowl of porridge too. I’d like to have some.”
