Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune

’Under normal circumstances, even if she really thought that, she should show some restraint in front of the girl’s own brother! But she just had to blurt it out!’

Anne Sutton looked at Justin Shields and said, ”What, does it sting? If it does, then as her older brother, you should be the one to discipline her properly.”

Justin Shields nodded. ”Alright! The next time I get a chance, I’ll definitely give her a good talking-to.”

Anne Sutton had just exchanged a few words with Justin Shields when Ian woke up.

He sat up, saw Justin Shields, and said, ”Uncle Shields.”

Justin Shields said, ”Did you have a good nap, Ian?”

Ian nodded. ”Are we going to see a movie?”

Justin Shields smiled. ”We are! Do you want to go, Ian?”

”I’ve never been to the movies before,” Ian said, looking at Justin Shields with great anticipation.

Anne Sutton glanced at him and said, ”Then let’s get going!”

”Okay, I’ll go get my backpack.”

With that, he hopped off the sofa and went to find his backpack.

Anne Sutton took Ian and followed Justin Shields out the door.

Justin Shields had driven over, so Anne Sutton and Ian rode in his car. Inside, Justin Shields looked at Anne Sutton and asked, ”Are you getting used to things at the Linden Family’s place?”

Anne Sutton nodded. ”It’s alright.”

Justin Shields said, ”That’s good! If anything makes you unhappy, remember to tell me.”

”With Ian around, I won’t be unhappy,” Anne Sutton said, glancing at her son.

Ian smiled.

Justin Shields chuckled. ”Sometimes I really envy Ethan Linden! He has such an adorable son. Unlike me, I don’t even have a girlfriend.”

Anne Sutton looked at Justin Shields and said, ”It’s not like you can’t find one! With all the beautiful women in the entertainment industry, can’t you just pick anyone you want?”

’He’s a big shot in the entertainment industry, and he’s saying things like this?’

”That’s different,” Justin Shields said. ”Those women in the entertainment industry are part of my work. I never get romantically involved with women I work with. It gets very messy.”

Anne Sutton asked, ”Why would it be messy?”

Justin Shields glanced at Anne Sutton. ”I just don’t want to mix work and my personal life. By the way, do you remember Sylvia Warren?”

Anne Sutton nodded. ”Mhm. How could I forget?”

’For me, she was a key figure, after all!’

If Sylvia Warren hadn’t provoked her back then, she would have never realized her true place in Charles Prescott’s heart and drawn a clear line with him.

Justin Shields said, ”She’s riding the wave of publicity from ruining Charles Prescott’s engagement. She’s doing pretty well in the industry now and landed a decent script a couple of days ago.”

She had a son with Charles Prescott.

For Leo’s sake, Charles Prescott couldn’t just ignore her.

With Charles Prescott as her backer, plus her current fame, quite a few people were willing to hire her.

Anne Sutton looked at Justin Shields and said, ”She deserves it.”

Justin Shields said, ”I thought you wouldn’t just stand by and watch her succeed.”

”At the end of the day, she’s a victim too. The one who’s despicable is that scumbag Charles Prescott!”

Just thinking about how Charles Prescott liked to play with women’s emotions made Anne Sutton furious.

Even though she didn’t like Sylvia Warren either, Charles Prescott had already driven her away.

She couldn’t even stay by her own child’s side.

Even after giving Charles Prescott a child, she still couldn’t marry him as she had wished.

Speaking of which, Anne Sutton said, ”I haven’t seen Charles Prescott in the last couple of days. I wonder what he’s been up to.”

Justin Shields said, ”He went back to Westhaven.”

”Huh?” Anne Sutton looked at Justin Shields, surprised. He said, ”It seems like something important came up, so he went back.”

”...I thought he would stick around here for a few more days.”

Ever since she inherited everything from the Fawcett Group, Charles Prescott had been showing up in front of her every day, acting like a total sycophant.

When she came to Veridia, he followed her. She never expected him to return to Westhaven so easily.

’Then again, there’s a lot going on back in Westhaven, and he has a company to run. It’s good that he went back.’

’At least I don’t have to deal with him showing up and disgusting me.’

Justin Shields looked at Anne Sutton and asked, ”How are things between you and Charles Prescott now?”

”...” Hearing Justin Shields’s question, Anne Sutton looked at him. ”What do you think?”

Seeing Anne Sutton look his way, Justin Shields smiled faintly. ”Knowing you, after what happened with Ian, you would never forgive him, right?”

”...” Listening to Justin Shields, Anne Sutton found him to be very emotionally intelligent. ’If it had been Nathan Fawcett, he would probably be accusing me of having something going on with Charles Prescott right about now.’

’That guy Nathan Fawcett... he even said I liked Charles Prescott. It’s so frustrating I could die!’

Anne Sutton said, ”I wish Ethan Linden were like you.”

Hearing this, Justin Shields’s lips curved into a smile as he asked, ”How does Ethan Linden see your relationship with Charles Prescott?”

”He thinks I like Charles Prescott,” Anne Sutton said. ”Don’t you think he’s a little dense? In his eyes, do I look like some kind of sicko?”

Hearing this, Justin Shields burst out laughing. ”Next time I see him, I’ll help you set him straight. There’s no way anyone could think you like Charles Prescott!”

Anne Sutton said, ”Exactly!”

They arrived at the movie theater, and when Anne Sutton bought the tickets, she bought an extra one for Nathan Fawcett.

She sent a message to Nathan Fawcett: ”We’re here.”

Then she sent him the address.

Nathan Fawcett was in a meeting today. He stood in the office, wearing a white dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows.

When he was at the company, he especially resembled Ethan Linden.

However, his personality was completely different from the Ethan Linden of the past.

The old Ethan Linden was gentle and had a good relationship with all his relatives. People felt relaxed around him, without much apprehension, and they weren’t afraid of him.

However, at this moment, Ethan Linden’s second older brother, Ryan Linden—who was also Lana Langley’s husband—sat to the side. He was a bit chubby and had a round appearance.

He said to Ethan Linden, ”Ethan...”

”Address me as President Linden,” Nathan Fawcett said, looking at him sternly, with no intention of showing him any mercy.

Ryan Linden said, ”Just give me a little more time. I can definitely get the money back.”

Nathan Fawcett gazed at the man who had embezzled company funds and was now spewing a string of lies. ”Time? How much more do you need?”

”One month,” Ryan Linden said frantically.

Nathan Fawcett watched him with a leisurely air. ”One month? And in one month, you can get back all the money you lost gambling on soccer?”

Hearing this, Ryan Linden’s face darkened, but he stubbornly denied it. ”I didn’t gamble on soccer.”

If he admitted to it, he would be kicked out of the company!

He had no real skills to begin with and relied entirely on his position in the Linden Family’s company to make a living. If he got kicked out, he might just starve to death on the streets.

Nathan Fawcett looked at him and gave a mocking smirk. He had already thoroughly investigated everything Ryan Linden had done, yet here he was, still lying to his face. Unconcerned, Nathan said, ”Since you’re unwilling to admit it, I’ll give you one more month. I’d love to see just how you’re going to get that money back in a month.”

The amount he had embezzled was a full eighty million...

He wanted to see how Ryan Linden could possibly raise that much money without going through the company.

With Ryan Linden’s meager abilities, forget earning eighty million—he couldn’t even make eight hundred thousand in a month.
