Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune

Caleb Summers was the kind of guy with a terrible personality. He loved going after people who were already in relationships, breaking up couples just for the fun of it.

Who knew who would be so unlucky this time.

Hearing Nathan Fawcett’s words, Caleb Summers was a little surprised. ”How did you know she was married?”

”Have you ever gone after a woman who *wasn’t* married?” Nathan Fawcett gazed at him. ”Are you really not afraid some husband is going to beat you to death?”

”What’s there to be afraid of?” Caleb Summers said. ”Who would dare hit me? It’s not like I force anyone! Take that last one, for example. She was the one insisting on a divorce to be with me! I even tried to convince her to go back to her husband and live a good life! In the end, her husband was pretty grateful to me.”

”...” Nathan Fawcett looked at the man, a headache coming on. ”Alright, you can go now!”

Caleb Summers said, ”In such a hurry to get rid of me! What about you? When are you going to bring that woman out for me to see?”

”What, you planning to make a move on her?” Nathan Fawcett said. ”Someone like you? She’d never be interested.”

Anne Sutton hated scumbags like Caleb Summers the most!

Caleb Summers said, ”It’s not that I want her to be interested in me. It’s just... you brought her back, so you have to let the guys get a look, right? It’s not just me. Old Fourth and the others want to see her, too.”

Besides Caleb Summers, Ethan Linden had several other brothers he’d grown up with, and they were all very close.

When they heard that Nathan Fawcett had brought a woman back—and that she was Ian’s mother—they were all eager to see her.

Nathan Fawcett said, ”I don’t have time.”

”Look at you...” Caleb Summers said, disappointed. ”You’re being so cold and distant. It’s breaking the guys’ hearts! Anyway, you’re not single anymore, right? You should at least set an example for us! Don’t let it get to the point where we meet her and don’t even know who she is!”

”It’s better if you don’t know,” Nathan Fawcett said. ”Now isn’t a good time for you to meet her.”

’Besides...’

’Anne Sutton probably wouldn’t want to meet these people either.’

’After all, to her, he was just an ex-husband she was co-parenting with.’

’Anne Sutton hadn’t acknowledged his presence in her life!’

’He hadn’t even won Anne Sutton over yet, so there was no point in talking about introducing her to his friends!’

”Why isn’t it a good time?” Caleb Summers started analyzing the situation himself. ”From the sound of it, you think she’s terrible too. In that case, you should break up with her immediately! Seriously, don’t let a woman like that affect your status. Everyone’s already starting to get suspicious about your identity! I’m the one who had to warn them to stop overthinking it! But if this goes on, they’re eventually going to start digging. What will you do if your identity is exposed?”

Nathan Fawcett looked at Caleb Summers and said, ”If it’s exposed, I’ll just go back to my hometown.”

”No way!” Caleb Summers said. ”I won’t allow it! What would we do if you left? You can find a woman anywhere, don’t be an idiot. Even if you really went back to your hometown, I’d drag you back here!”

’It’s a good thing I didn’t meet that Anne Sutton woman today!’

’Otherwise, I would have had to find a way to make her leave Nathan Fawcett!’

”...” Nathan Fawcett looked at the man. ’His loyalty was his only good quality.’

「That afternoon」

Nathan Fawcett returned home, but Anne Sutton wasn’t back yet.

She had officially started her job today, and there was a lot she hadn’t finished yet.

The auntie who cooked for the family saw him return and said, ”Sir, you’re back! Here is today’s menu.”

Nathan Fawcett was a very picky eater, so the menu always had to be shown to him for approval.

Nathan Fawcett looked at the menu the auntie handed him. It was filled with mild dishes, all made according to his preferences.

For some reason, he suddenly remembered the meal with Anne Sutton and Justin Shields, when Anne had said he couldn’t handle spicy food.

Nathan Fawcett said, ”Why are all the dishes mild?”

The auntie said, ”Ms. Linden isn’t coming home today, so everything was made to your taste.”

Nathan Fawcett said, ”Change them to spicy dishes.”

”Huh?” The auntie stared at Nathan Fawcett in disbelief. ”Are you sure?”

’He actually wants to eat spicy food!’

’He’s the last person who would ever eat anything spicy!’

Seeing the auntie’s shocked expression, Nathan Fawcett asked, ”What’s wrong?”

’Am I that looked down upon?’

’Anne Sutton didn’t believe in me, and now even the auntie is starting to doubt my abilities?’

This left Nathan Fawcett rather displeased.

After he spoke, he went upstairs, looking as though his mind was made up.

The butler followed him in, saw the auntie’s troubled expression, and asked, ”What’s wrong?”

”The young master told me to change the menu to spicy dishes today,” the auntie said. ”I don’t know, he just seems strange.”

”...” Hearing this, the butler was also stunned.

By dinnertime, Anne Sutton still hadn’t returned.

The butler stood to the side, looking at the table full of spicy dishes. Except for what Ian was eating, everything was spicy.

The butler looked at Nathan Fawcett, unable to believe this was the menu he himself had requested.

Nathan Fawcett sat there, staring at the table full of spice. He had originally wanted to train himself, but now that he saw it, he felt so miserable he didn’t have the slightest appetite.

The butler knew he disliked spicy food and said considerately, ”Should I have the auntie prepare something else for you?”

”No need.” Nathan Fawcett picked up his chopsticks with the grim determination of a man facing his doom.

’I refuse to believe it!’

’If Justin Shields can do it, why can’t I?’

’I’m going to secretly train my tolerance for spicy food, and then blow everyone away.’

「That night」

Anne Sutton finally finished her work and returned to the Linden Family estate.

She came back very late. There had been a lot to do, and she was quite tired, but for her, it had been a fulfilling day, so she wasn’t in a bad mood.

Just as she walked in, she saw a doctor arriving.

Anne Sutton asked, ”Is someone sick?”

Auntie Claudia, who had been with Anne Sutton in Westhaven, replied, ”The master is feeling a little unwell.”

”Is it serious?”

”I don’t know, I haven’t gone to see yet.”

Anne Sutton said, ”I’ll go take a look then.”

Even though she couldn’t stand Nathan Fawcett, when she heard he was unwell, Anne Sutton couldn’t help but worry.

’Especially since today...’

’He helped me sort out that issue with my job!’

She naturally felt a little grateful toward him.

「...」

Anne Sutton went upstairs and saw Ian standing to the side, staring at Nathan Fawcett with a serious expression. ”Are you an idiot? I told you not to eat it, I told you, but you just had to.”

Nathan Fawcett was feeling awful. Hearing his son’s words, he said, ”Shut up.”

”I’m telling you off and you’re getting upset! Just look at the state you’re in.”

”Don’t you dare tell your mother!” Just as Anne Sutton was about to enter, she heard him say this and couldn’t help but stop in her tracks.

’He’s trying to hide it from me!’

Ian said, ”Why not? If she knew you were sick, she’d definitely be worried about you.”

Anne Sutton: ”...”

’I feel like my son can see right through me!’

Nathan Fawcett: ”There’s no need.”

’Although he also wanted Anne Sutton to be concerned about him.’

’But...’

’The reason for this was just too embarrassing!’

The doctor stood to the side, looked at Nathan Fawcett, and said, ”Eating spicy food is something you have to ease into. If you don’t like it, you shouldn’t eat so much of it.”

’Making yourself sick from spicy food... Really?’

Even the doctor was a little speechless.

He had just said this when he noticed Nathan Fawcett glaring at him, so he quickly shut his mouth.

Anne Sutton stood outside the door, listening to the doctor’s words. ’So...’

’Nathan Fawcett got like this from eating spicy food?’

’Is he a fucking idiot?’
