I Am Your Natural Enemy

Wen Yan remembered that Grandma was originally from Central Plains County, and this time, Old Wang from the fried goods shop also went to Central Plains County.

Could it be that Grandma knew Old Wang’s elders before?

A big shot like Grandma, who didn’t turn into a Ghost after a peaceful passing, but still exists in some form?

Wen Yan understood Grandma’s words. Before, he had done a lot, but always relied on Grandma to buff things up from the back-end, and sometimes, she might have even called people to support him.

Yet Grandma never mentioned any of this.

After so many times, Wen Yan roughly understood that regarding his Natural Enemy Profession hints or Temporary Ability generation—

Some information requires tacit approval from big shots who control it, and only then can he capture these hints; otherwise, it’s like picking pockets in front of them, which is quite impolite.

The generation of some temporary abilities also requires approval before he can borrow them.

And some generated temporary abilities need prerequisites, with similar effects.

Calculating all this, Wen Yan somewhat understood why the Jade Pivot Fire Mansion Authentic Talisman had appeared many times.

Perhaps because his power inherently matches this, both his temperament and deeds align well with the big shot corresponding to this talisman.

Thinking about it, it makes sense. He has encountered many temporary abilities that require prerequisite abilities, some even demand progress or titles.

He used to think it was based on his existing abilities to get the most suitable ones he could use.

Now there’s another point: if this ability belongs to a big shot, he still needs that shot’s nod or tacit consent. If they refuse, he certainly can’t use it.

Just like the True Martial Demon Subduing Talisman, it never appeared before encountering a Great Demon.

Looking at it this way, there are actually quite a few restrictions, but some benefits too—those who have ascended in the Celestial Court mostly retain only some instincts from life, and Wen Yan doesn’t need to guess their intentions; as long as conditions are met, they wouldn’t block him based on personal likes or dislikes.

Wen Yan’s thoughts flashed quickly, and he tentatively asked.

”Grandma, is this related to any elder?”

”An old acquaintance who once helped me.

As a child, he lived under Mount Laojun and received enlightenment from a master.

Later, he became a Witch Priest, but adhered to his duty and guarded his heart, never leaving that mountain until the day he died.

Now his descendants have also become Witch Priests; he doesn’t want his descendants to repeat his mistakes.

You go take his descendant away, leave Central Plains County, leave the North, and never return again.

”What if he doesn’t want to leave?” Wen Yan was a bit worried, figuring he had to take the job, but if Old Wang didn’t want to do anything out of line, he truly didn’t want to force Old Wang.

”To prevent him from accidentally straying, breaking his bones would be worthwhile.

Divine Land can tolerate an ordinary Witch Priest.

But it might not tolerate a Witch Priest with abilities wanting to do something out of line.

If he carelessly does anything, Mount Laojun’s folks would be the first to arrive.

At that time, there’s no room for regrets.

Mount Laojun’s people usually are the most tolerant, but they are the least tolerant once lines are crossed.

Especially when it comes to witches, even more so.”

”Is there any saying about this?” Wen Yan was very interested in these matters.

In his impression, the disciples of Mount Laojun were few and very discreet, almost never heard of anything major related to Mount Laojun.

Moreover, he never heard of Mount Laojun having disputes with anyone over anything.

Listening to Grandma now, it seems any disputes were suppressed, barely able to say a word.

”I’m not particularly clear, only heard that the witches’ demise, and later the Taoist priests’ downfall, are related to this lineage.”

”...”

Wen Yan didn’t know what to say for a moment. No wonder Grandma specifically mentioned Mount Laojun; if the real calculation counts, it’s been a blood feud.

But time flies, it’s been so long that just by the profession alone, it can’t support such hatred.

In the end, hatred is still a thing between people.

”I’ll go to Central Plains County once I wake up.”

”Be careful, if you encounter anything, be vigilant, don’t hold back, and also, stay away from the Yellow River.”

”Huh, did you hear something? Don’t leave half of it unsaid.” Wen Yan was startled, it wasn’t the first time he got such advice.

”There’s some uncertain news that someone wants to mess with the current Scorching Sun, but those folks picked the wrong temple with their pig’s head, and leaked the information elsewhere.”

”I didn’t quite understand...” Wen Yan truly didn’t grasp it this time.

”It’s like someone went to the river for a ritual, picked the wrong person, leaked the information, and I just happened to hear about it.”

Wen Yan was both shocked and dumbfounded; can things happen like this?

Even a makeshift crew shouldn’t be this sloppy, right?

Grandma looked at Wen Yan’s shocked expression and chuckled.

”Don’t laugh at others, the Deity’s functions are extremely complex, many people share the same short name quite commonly.

Only a precise Precious Decree can determine which Deity and which function.

The same Deity having many functions, many powers, many inclinations, is quite normal.

Do you mistakenly think those long complex Precious Decrees are merely formalities?

Even those Little Taoists might not fully understand it, let alone others.
