The Darling of Heaven Owns a Rip-off Shop

In the eyes of Concubine Qin, this was a prime shopping center location with a dedicated parking lot.

”How much would it cost to acquire this storefront?” Concubine Qin asked the steward beside her.

This steward was personally selected by her. Initially a servant in the Prince Mansion, Concubine Qin, noticing his capability, promoted him to be her steward. This steward was indeed competent, handling matters adeptly and well-informed.

The steward glanced at the storefront, a complex look flashing in his eyes, and after some consideration, politely said, ”Reporting to Concubine, acquiring this storefront might be difficult.”

”How is that possible? There is no storefront that can’t be acquired; if it can’t be acquired, it’s just because the money hasn’t been placed correctly. Besides, I’m Prince Kang’s concubine, what can’t be solved by having the Prince intervene?” Concubine Qin immediately refuted. After confirming mutual affections with Prince Kang, she insisted on being the primary wife from the start, but Prince Kang couldn’t achieve this. She eventually settled for being a concubine, and Prince Kang felt quite guilty, constantly pampering and yielding to her. Now, just a mere storefront, it was a trifling matter for the Prince.

”This storefront should be... part of the Wei Family’s dowry.” The steward, seeing Concubine Qin’s confidence, decided to reveal the truth.

”The Wei Family? Which family is that? If they disagree, I’ll just go back and discuss it with the Prince,” Concubine Qin said dismissively.

”It’s the dowry given to the Princess by Prime Minister Wei.” The steward, seeing the indifferent Concubine, had to make the matter clearer.

Concubine Qin knitted her brows.

It turns out to be that woman’s dowry?!

Is the Wei Family very wealthy?

Are they also outwardly upright but internally corrupt?

Officials are all quite skilled at making money.

”Why don’t we consider another place?” the steward cautiously suggested.

”No need. I’ll go back and discuss it with the Prince. I remember the Prince owns more than one storefront on this street. If necessary, he can exchange two or three storefronts for this one.” Concubine Qin rejected the steward’s suggestion, speaking confidently, ”This small matter is still within the Prince’s capabilities.”

After finishing her words, Concubine Qin turned around to prepare to return to the Prince Mansion.

The steward followed behind with a bitter expression, thinking that if the Princess knew it was the Concubine eyeing her storefront, let alone exchanging two or three storefronts, probably she wouldn’t trade even for the entire Prince Kang Mansion. Now, the Princess has even built a wall dividing the Prince Mansion, and the Prince is helpless about it, barely able to see the Princess with great effort. Proposing such a demand? What is she thinking? Or has Concubine Qin really bewitched the Prince utterly?

The steward recalled the grand scene on the day the Concubine married into the Prince Mansion, suddenly feeling that, perhaps, anything is possible?

...

When Concubine Qin returned to the Prince Mansion, Prince Kang happened to return from court as well.

Noticing Prince Kang’s displeased expression, Concubine Qin concernedly asked, ”Your Highness, did something distressing happen today?”

”It’s nothing but Prime Minister Wei’s family, ignoring me as if I weren’t there. Some of their followers even gave me the cold shoulder.” The Prince Kang helplessly sat down, took a sip of water.

”What? They dare to be so rude? You are a Prince,” Concubine Qin exclaimed in surprise, finding it unbelievable. Just a few officials, yet they dare to be so disrespectful to a Prince? Prince Kang is the Emperor’s own brother, sharing the same mother, possessing extraordinary status. How dare they act this way?
