The Darling of Heaven Owns a Rip-off Shop

The housekeeper’s expression turned a bit strange, and he hesitated, ”The Princess is not ill.”

”Then what’s wrong with the Princess? Still not over her anger?” Prince Kang asked.

The housekeeper hesitated to speak.

”Speak, what on earth is going on?” Prince Kang, seeing the housekeeper’s hesitant demeanor, asked sharply in anger.

”Since Your Highness took a concubine, the Princess has built a wall between the back courtyard and the front courtyard, not allowing us to go through. Then every night, sounds of music, as if there was nightly revelry, emanate from the back courtyard. The people in the Princess’s courtyard are all newly recruited servants and those brought from the Prime Minister’s Mansion, and we can’t find out more. It’s just that whenever I go out to shop for things, I often meet the Princess also buying things there. She buys more than we do.” The housekeeper finished in one breath.

”What?” Upon hearing this, Prince Kang first looked bewildered, then shouted, ”Impossible!”

The housekeeper, frightened by Prince Kang’s roar, shivered and knelt down immediately, ”Everything I said is true. If Your Highness doesn’t believe it, you can go see for yourself.”

Prince Kang’s face darkened, he stood up, and headed directly toward the back courtyard. The housekeeper, seeing the furious Prince Kang, followed behind him fearfully, always feeling like a storm was coming. If the Prince lost his mind and did something to the Princess, that would be a disaster. The Emperor was already dissatisfied with the Prince for taking a concubine. If something else happened, it would be the end.

As Prince Kang walked, he muttered to himself, ”Impossible, it’s impossible. No matter how the Princess is annoyed with me, she wouldn’t do such a thing.” In Prince Kang’s heart, the Princess was virtuous, gentle, and tender, loving him to the bone. It was precisely because she loved him too much that she was heartbroken about him taking a concubine. After closing her doors, Prince Kang thought the Princess was only momentarily angry with him and would reconcile once she thought it through and calmed down.

He’s a Prince, after all, and ordinary men having three or four wives was very normal. What’s more, he’s a Prince, allowed to have two concubines and four mistresses. He had only taken one concubine so far. No matter how angry the Princess was, it wouldn’t last long.

Then the Prince was dumbfounded when he saw the wall separating the front courtyard and the back courtyard.

”This, there’s really a wall built here. When did this happen?” The Prince turned to look at the housekeeper who had followed, asking sternly.

”It was, it was the day after you took a concubine.” The housekeeper said weakly.

”Go and call the door for me!” Prince Kang was still in shock. Was this really something the Princess did?

”There is, there is no door...” The housekeeper answered weakly again. When the Princess built this wall, she didn’t leave a door.

”Go and bring a ladder for me.” Prince Kang was so angry he almost kicked the housekeeper.

The housekeeper hurriedly instructed someone to bring a ladder.

Quickly, a servant brought a ladder, and Prince Kang climbed up the ladder, looked down, and then: ”...” Why is this wall built so high?

”Your Highness, you can lift the ladder up, place it over there, and then climb down.” The housekeeper wisely suggested from below.

”Oh, right!” Prince Kang, sitting on top of the wall, pulled the ladder up, placed it on the other side, and climbed down.

As soon as his feet touched the ground, a thunderous shout echoed in his ears.

”Who are you?!”

Prince Kang was so startled he almost sat down on the ground.

After recovering, he looked at the newcomer and scolded, ”How dare you! Who are you, not even knowing who I am?”
