The Darling of Heaven Owns a Rip-off Shop

Chapter 472: Chapter 35: Sunflower Facing the Apocalypse

The people from R Country first expressed their gratitude and respect, then began to describe the current situation in their country and what kind of assistance they needed.

The superpower users were divided into a dozen or so teams and sent to carry out missions with the local safety base personnel.

Xu Yuxi and her team were still in one group of three. Their first task was to rescue survivors atop a high-rise building. These survivors had been holding out on the top floor for a long time. It was uncertain how much longer they could continue to endure.

”How many people are there?” Xu Yuxi asked the superpower user from R Country who was in their team. This superpower user knew Chinese and was a rare superpower user with a Gold Attribute, named Masashi.

”When the SOS was sent, there were two to three hundred people. They’ve moved all the building’s resources to the top floor, holding on bitterly. We’ve tried to rescue them. However, there are too many zombies in that building, with many gathered downstairs as well. We’ve attempted several rescues, all of which ended in failure.” Masashi frowned deeply, ”So we later changed targets to rescue those who were easier to save first. Those with a higher difficulty were put on hold. We had no choice, since we’ve already lost some people trying to rescue them.”

Xu Yuxi felt somewhat heavy-hearted upon hearing this.

In such times, one is often faced with choices.

What weighs heavier, what weighs lighter?

More people, fewer people, more difficult, less difficult – these must all be weighed carefully.

Every choice comes with the burden of responsibility and consequences.

Yet, there’s no choice but to make them.

She recalled a similar difficult choice they faced domestically with the captain and the others. In one town, there were seven or eight people on the east side and a mother and daughter on the west side. A wave of zombies was closing in, and in such a situation, there wasn’t enough time to save both sides. The captain was so anxious his eyes turned red.

Xu Yuxi and Zhou Shiqiu cursed angrily, saying, screw these choices, don’t make any! Captain, you go save those people, we’ll make sure to save the mother and daughter and catch up with you. Then Zhang Qiang drove, racing along, while Xu Yuxi and Zhou Shiqiu coordinated seamlessly, carving out a path to survival, reuniting with the captain with the mother and daughter, and then fleeing for their lives.

After that battle, both Xu Yuxi and Zhou Shiqiu’s superpowers were severely depleted, leaving them with splitting headaches, and it took three whole days to recover slowly.

”We really don’t have any more manpower.” Masashi said with a wry smile, ”For this rescue mission, it’s only the three of you, myself as the superpower user, and a few drivers who can only wait for support from a distance. Sincerely sorry, if there is danger, please escape first. We won’t hold any grievances.”

”We will do our best,” Xu Yuxi said, her emotions mixed.

”Let’s go, we’ll do our best,” Zhou Shiqiu also spoke up.

The driver took them to the outskirts of the city and then stopped.

”We’ll have to go in ourselves. The building is here, completely overrun, and we’re responsible for this area. On the other side, there will be others handling the rescue. As you know, zombies are very sensitive to sound, so our plan is to send someone to the opposite building to create noise, drawing away these wandering zombies, allowing us to proceed with the rescue and ensure those people are evacuated.” Masashi said.

”Send someone to create noise?” Xu Yuxi frowned.

”That’s right. He will do it,” Masashi pointed at a young man and said.
