High School of Demon Hunting

48: Chapter 48 The Belated Guardian_1

48 -48 The Belated Guardian_1

Before infiltrating the private jet of the number one university, Nikita had imagined a lot of scenarios where she might be found.

For instance, accidentally triggering a demon alert device on the jet, she would be surrounded by rush-to-the-scene escorters; or encountering her old classmate on the jet, she would have no choice but to take ominous actions; or just happen to “accidentally” run into an ominous arbitrator-like wizard who would grab her and put her back in the Black Prison like catching a chicken.

In each scenario, she had prepared several different contingency plans.

The only thing she hadn’t expected was that her impeccable infiltration would be ruined by a newcomer.

She squinted her eyes at Zheng Qing.

Perhaps this aura that could awaken her demon blood could somewhat deal with the captain’s interrogation and lessen some of the punishment of failure.

The corner of the female demon’s mouth slightly tipped up.

She lifted a finger, and four or five ropes shot out of nowhere, binding Zheng Qing, who had fainted on the floor.

“Stop her!” A booming shout echoed, and the red-faced male student from far away rushed out, like a cannonball, crashing down in front of Zheng Qing.

The heavy landing made the entire jet shudder.

Two ropes went right in front of him.

The red-faced boy lifted his fist and slammed it down hard on the rope.

It made a metallic crashing sound, and two ropes with a painful hiss fell powerless on the floor.

Xiao Xiao stood next to Zheng Qing, silently drew out an ancient turtle shell, and recited an incantation.

The runes on the turtle shell flowed, creating a faint golden light that came out, shielding the two of them.

The oncoming ropes from a distance fiercely stabbed on the golden light, creating a harsh drilling noise.

In the restaurant, other freshmen covered their ears, blankly watched the quickly escalating scene, confused about why the two people who were just confronting each other are now joining forces to challenge the witch demon.

Zheng Qing, with his hand on his forehead, was awoken by the drilling noise.

His eyes were blank, aimlessly staring at the deformed golden chandelier on the ceiling.

Flashes of scenes from before he passed out whizzed past his mind.

The airline, the small fairy, the stewardess, the female demon.

His eyes widened, he clenched his teeth, struggling to stand up.

“Awake?” Xiao Xiao stood in front of him, sounding very tired.

“Everyone alright?” Zheng Qing’s voice was husky and deep as he pulled out a stack of yellow paper charms from his grey pouch.

“Except for you, no one was hurt.” Xiao Xiao’s hands were shaking from holding the turtle shell, but his voice was very steady.

“However, we have big trouble now.”

After he said that, he let go of his hands and sat down on the floor.

The golden caged light surrounding the two of them flickered a few times before suddenly shattering into small spots of gold, returning to the shell.

The ancient turtle shell floated gently around in the air before dropping.

The three ropes that were originally drilling into the cage, after pausing for a moment, resumed their relentless stabbing.

Zheng Qing got it.

He stepped forward, shielding Xiao Xiao.

With a wave of his hand, the stack of yellow paper charms fluttered up like a large net, covering the three oncoming ropes.

Without a sound, the three ropes covered with yellow paper charms fell stiffly to the floor, making a thump thump sound.

The smile at the corner of Nikita’s mouth vanished.

The red light slowly shone in her eyes.

“I think I’ve been a little too kind.”

“Perhaps it’s time to show you how a real Witch Demon handles fresh ingredients.”

The fairy’s voice still maintained its sweetness and said playful words.

However, the implications sent shivers down the spines of all the newbies.

Her pitch-black hair levitated, and her eyes shimmered with a bright red glow.

An intense pressure descended over the entire dining room once again.

Under the terrifying aura, the cutlery clinked, and chairs emitted creaking sounds.

Pets shivered, hiding their heads in their masters’ embrace, and the Protective Talismans upon the newbies flared up with a splendid light.

Xiao Xiao sat on the ground, once again holding aloft the antiquated tortoiseshell.

The light shell emitted a pacifying gold shimmer, keeping the fairy’s terrifying power at bay.

Zheng Qing reached out his hand to pull in the scared, red-faced boy from just outside the shield.

The red-faced boy flopped down on his bottom and turned to Xiao Xiao, his face repelling with rage, “Why didn’t you intervene sooner!”

Zheng Qing knew he was referring to when Xiao Xiao did everything to hold them back from their ill-fated attempt at rebellion.

“Because she hadn’t attacked.” Xiao Xiao leaned against the back of a couch, his voice sounding somewhat weak under the oppressive aura.

“Then why did you intervene now!”

“Because they’ve arrived.” Xiao Xiao gestured towards the restaurant entrance with a nod of his head as if heaving a sigh of relief.

Zheng Qing and the red-faced boy turned their heads simultaneously towards the entrance.

The restaurant’s massive door remained tightly shut.

However, beneath the shadow cast by the alcohol rack towards the left of the entrance, a blurry figure had appeared.

“I was curious about which big shot wasn’t giving face.” A languid voice echoed from behind the U-shaped bar, and a young man, his face gaunt and skin studded with copper studs and iron rings, slowly emerged from the shadows of the wine shelves.

The suffocating pressure in the restaurant dissipated soundlessly.

He walked to the front of the bar, picked a few ice-cubes from the bucket, and dropped them into his glass.

Seemingly aware of the relieved gazes around him, he raised his glass and turned his gaze to the fairy not far away, “Didn’t expect it to be just a small fairy causing a ruckus…

Really, boring people are everywhere.”

The fairy titled her head and looked at the young man who had appeared out of nowhere, her gaze showing a hint of surprise.

The young man with pin-studded face swirled his glass, seemingly more interested in the liquid spirographing inside.

Looking down, he murmured, “Did your elders send you to read a war decree?”

“Shouldn’t be.” A gentle voice echoed beside Zheng Qing, adding on to the conversation, “That’s not something a lowly Witch Demon, who hasn’t even warranted a wanted notice, can handle.

By the way, I’ll have a margarita, with extra lemon.

Aren’t you ordering anything, Victor?”

Zheng Qing whipped his head round, nearly snapping his neck in the process.

It was a youthful voice, but his hair was already turning grey.

Unlike the punk-dressed young man, this figure was cloaked with a large robe.

The robe extended from his feet and covered the entirety of him, the high collar hiding his nose tip.

With a blurry vision, Zheng Qing could only notice his smooth forehead and a partially grey head of hair.

“Vodka, please.” A deep voice echoed from another direction.

Zheng Qing followed the sound.

A tall man, his arms exposed and dressed in armor, was seated cross-leged by the window.

Right now, he was propping up his head, lifting his eyelids to stare at the fairy.

By his side stood a tall, purple-haired woman.

“Respect your opponent!” The purple-haired woman’s voice was beautiful, but stern, “Even if the opponent is a fairy who only knows how to scare children.

And besides, no drinking during a mission, Hilda.”

“The fetters of philistines,” The languid voice grumbled from behind the bar, “What I’m drinking isn’t alcohol, it’s the atmosphere.”
