High School of Demon Hunting

43: Chapter 43 Threat from Starcoin Sequence 7_1

43 -43 Threat from Starcoin Sequence 7_1

Being praised and complimented feels good.

But being falsely lauded makes one feel anxious.

Zheng Qing did not cast the Thunder Curse, it was the spell released by the interviewer, Thomas; the spell didn’t destroy half the street, it just made a bit of noise; most importantly, the so-called Strong Suppression Charm was merely a simple Calm Heart Talisman, under which the pig demon fell asleep.

Zheng Qing raised his head, his face flushed red.

He himself didn’t know whether his face was red because of coughing or because these false praises made him feel uneasy.

He took a deep breath, planning to turn around and have a serious discussion about what happened at the Great Ming pavilion with the people at the next table to prevent rumors from spreading.

Across the table, Xiao Xiao was sipping her juice, her eyes narrowed, attentively listening to the conversation happening at the neighboring table.

Seeing the topic diverge again, the Curly-haired Dog grew impatient.

He coughed heavily a few times, interrupting others’ discussion about the cost students’ topic, and asked in a very serious tone: “Do you know who was the Wild Demon in Great Ming Pavilion?”

The next table fell into silence.

Zheng Qing abandoned his plan to explain right away, curiously pricking up his ears.

He knew that the pig demon was originally a chubby man with a triple chin, because he had interacted with both the demon and the chubby man.

What did these unfamiliar wizards know?

“Who was it?” Someone on the next table couldn’t wait to find out.

“I won’t say the name, you guess first.” Curly-haired Dog teased, mysteriously saying: “He is a scholarship student from Alpha, ranked seventh in the starcoin ranking; he is the vice-chairman of the Alpha Student Council, and he also has his own club; the hunting team he formed is ranked seventeenth in the whole university.”

A gasp went around the table, evidently his companions had guessed who this male student was.

Zheng Qing looked confused.

This riddle seemed to point not to the dead fat man, but to his older brother.

He remembered that the triple-chinned fat man once boasted to him that his brother was also a scholarship student at the First University, and even a senior scholarship student.

But the fat man never mentioned his brother’s name.

“Impossible!” A voice abruptly rose from the table behind them: “I saw him at Nanjing Pavilion yesterday morning, how could he have turned into a wild demon a month ago?”

“So ridiculous, how could someone ranked seventh in the starcoin ranking just turn into a wild demon.” Another voice also objected.

“I didn’t say he was the wild demon from the Great Ming Pavilion, I haven’t finished.” Curly-haired Dog finally stopped tantalizing them, lowered his voice, and said: “The wild demon from the Great Ming Pavilion was his younger brother, his own flesh and blood, from the same father and mother!”

A wave of realization swept over the table.

Then, tsks of sighs came from next door, a seemingly endless stream of lamentations and regrets pouring from their mouths.

Zheng Qing angrily stirred the corn chowder in front of him, as if stirring his brain.

This is information asymmetry!

He thought indignantly, if I knew more about the school, I would certainly know who that guy is.

The wizards at the next table had finished their meals and were prepared to return to their cabins.

They stood up, continuing their discussions.

“I heard he wants to seek justice for his younger brother.”

“Who will he find?”

“Who else?” A voice ridiculed: “It’s none of the Four Seasons Management Committee’s business; as for Trident, they did arrest the wild demon, but that was purely an official duty, and he probably neither has the guts nor the energy to provoke Trident.”

“So, he can only find that freshman.” Another voice was somewhat gleeful: “A freshman from Jiuyou who loves to be in the limelight without knowing to keep a low profile.

He happens to be a good target to vent his anger.”

“After all, we’re from the same college, we probably can’t stand idly by at that time.”

“You’re right.

If people from Alpha act wildly in Jiuyou, those veterans will definitely throw a fit.”

As Curly-haired Dog gossiped leisurely with his companions, they left the dining hall.

Behind them, Zheng Qing stared blankly at the mashed potatoes on his plate, his face filled with worry.

Li Meng’s cousin, the fat man’s older brother.

Before he entered the university, he needed to face two very real threats and figure out how to earn living expenses.

Why is it so hard just to go to school?

As he turned his head, he happened to see Monk Shi Yuan putting down his chopsticks.

The white rice and small plate of vegetables were eaten completely clean.

“Have you taken your vows?” Looking at the austere young monk, Zheng Qing suddenly felt he should not have so many worries.

“No, this poor monk suffers from motion sickness.” The young monk shook his head, his face full of pain.

Li Meng was laughing softly across the table.

Zheng Qing pretended not to see, and nudged Xiao Xiao beside him:

“I could understand most of the words they were chatting about just now.

Only one phrase ‘Starcoin Ranking’ was completely unclear to me.

Can you explain it?”

“To explain ‘Starcoin Ranking’, I need to talk further.” Xiao Xiao tapped on her empty glass next to her, looking around: “Where have those elves gone?”

Zheng Qing also looked up and saw that indeed, those elves who had been fluttering around the dining hall had disappeared.

“They also need to eat and rest.” Zheng Qing impatiently took his glass and asked: “Is it orange juice again?”

Xiao Xiao nodded with dignity.

“I want Green Bee!” Li Meng called out from the side.

“Minors are not allowed to drink alcohol.” Zheng Qing categorically refused.

When he returned to the table with two glasses of orange juice, Xiao Xiao had taken out his thick black notebook and began slowly turning the pages.

“One hundred years ago, the chairman of the First University Student Council, Mackey Wood, established the First University Comprehensive Evaluation Club – Wand.”

“Every year on January 1st, New Year’s Day, Wand publishes a rating report called ‘Arcana’.

This report includes twenty-two people who have had a significant impact on the First University over the year — they are called ‘Big Arcana’; and fifty-six people who have a unique influence on the four colleges over the year — they are called ‘Small Arcana’.”

“These persons include but are not limited to the school’s professors, lecturers, workers, and students.”

“How does Wand issue this evaluation report?” Zheng Qing couldn’t help asking: “Is such a report issued by a student group authoritative?”

“I know about this.” Li Meng eagerly raised her hand, saying: “I’ve heard my grandfather, my father, and my older brother say that being listed in ‘Arcana’ by Wand, whether as a professor or a student, represents an outstanding, remarkable achievement.

‘Beta Town Post’ has the exclusive right to reprint this report, so there is a special edition in the newspaper on January 2nd every year, dedicated to publishing this report; it is rumored that this report also serves as supplementary material for the Wizard Alliance’s professional grading meeting.”

Zheng Qing nodded noncommittally, finding Li Meng’s words impressive but still not comprehensible.

“Students who make it on this list, the school will have corresponding credit rewards.” Xiao Xiao added.

Zheng Qing immediately had a more intuitive understanding of the authority of this report.
