High School of Demon Hunting

34: Chapter 34 History and Reality_1

34 -34 History and Reality_1

Something fluffy brushed past Zheng Qing’s nose, and with a massive sneeze, he pulled a fluffy little creature into his arms, rubbing his sleep-filled eyes before ruffling it thoroughly.

Accompanied by a sound that seemed like a chuckle, Zheng Qing sighed heavily.

He checked his phone; the display showed August 29th.

It had been more than a month since that dream-like incident, and in two days, he was due to officially embark on his journey to the First College.

It felt like a dream.

Zheng Qing couldn’t help but pull out the college admission notice once more, carefully reading it again.

A moist tongue continued to lick his cheek relentlessly.

Zheng Qing turned his head, his gaze met by a pair of large, unblinking eyes.

With every wrinkle of the pink nose, and every twitch of the large ears, matched by the swaying of a large, white tail, it was unbelievably cute.

It was none other than the little fox, Poseidon.

“Go play with Fei Rui, don’t keep licking me,” he muttered, getting up and holding the little creature as they walked towards the balcony.

It was about time that the chubby hamster, who had been freeloading for so long, should help with taking care of the little one.

With malicious intent, Zheng Qing tossed the little fox next to Fei Rui’s nest.

In less than two months, Poseidon had grown from the size of a fist to twice that size, and the pale-blue pattern on their fur became more and more distinct.

Just like its mischievous mother, the little thing was very lively.

Waking up to a sneeze had become a new routine for Zheng Qing.

Wiping his face casually, engaging in a few rounds of boxing on the balcony, drinking a warm cup of soy milk, and after having breakfast, Zheng Qing hurriedly burrowed himself back into his room to read.

Yes, read.

If Mr.

Wu had led him into a mysterious realm, then the First College’s booklist had lifted a veil from that realm, allowing Zheng Qing to glimpse an even broader history and reality.

Previously, he always thought his future was confined to a dense forest on the mountain, the size of Hui Zi Ji.

However, in just one month, his world had expanded infinitely.

Opening the bookmark of “Big History: World Modern History Volume” to where he had left off, Zheng Qing started reading with great interest:

“…

In the early 20th century of the White Ding Calendar, the wizarding world was still debating whether wizards should expose themselves on a large scale…”

Thomas had visited again a few days ago and brought Zheng Qing a copy of the “Wizard World Encyclopedia” borrowed from the library.

It was the version published by the Education Committee Quality Education Office of the Wizard Alliance that he had mentioned before.

Since Zheng Qing had not officially enrolled yet, Thomas was the borrower.

After repeatedly cautioning Zheng Qing to take good care of the book, the busy interviewer hurriedly took his leave.

After a period of cramming, Zheng Qing was now able to understand many unfamiliar terms.

Like ‘White Ding’.

In the wizarding world, ‘White Ding’ refers specifically to non-wizards; in other words, the world of the ordinary people.

“…The stubborn wizards (non-contact faction), believe wizards are born nobility, and common people are untouchable, strongly resisting any form of contact…

conservative wizards (limited contact faction), believe that wizards should maintain mystery and low-key, reducing contact with ordinary people, to avoid uncontrollable incidents…

radical wizards (proactive contact faction) believe that wizards are friends of humankind, and have the responsibility and obligation to help human society develop and progress.

They believe that the isolation policy is a form of discrimination…”

“…The prevalence of malignant incidents has led this dispute to escalate…

In the mundane world of Europa, several rulers were controlled by dark creatures, causing massive casualties amongst the commoners…The evil soul wizard in Vienna spread hatred on a large scale, igniting the most violent self-slaughter in the world of ordinary people…Meanwhile, in the Greater China Region, the Fusang Samurai clan recklessly appeared, and yet the various factions of Middle Earth turned a blind eye because of their stubborn stance…”

“…Given that the mortal world is the foundation of the wizarding world, through several debates and referring to laws and regulations like the ‘Vampire Isolation Treaty’, the Wizard Behavior Management Method was unanimously accepted in the Magic Alliance Conference’s 1536th session on July 21,1945.

It imposed strict restrictions on the wizards’ secular life…

Non-wizardry wizards were also dispatched to the mortal world, bringing nuclear power, preventing the recurrence of the tragedy from another angle…”

Zheng Qing pulled out a notebook, flipped it to the last note-taking place, started a new line, marked a star, and noted: July 21,1945 —— Magic Alliance Conference —— 1536th session —— “Wizard Behavior Management Method”.

Huaxia’s most notable achievement in education is exam-oriented education.

Having been nurtured in such an environment for nearly twenty years, Zheng Qing has a good grasp of how to quickly master the key points of knowledge.

He knew he had a weak foundation and poor understanding of the points.

Thus, he made every second count, striving to enrich his understanding of the wizarding world as much as possible.

Before he knew it, lunchtime had passed.

After lunch, his dad pulled Zheng Qing into the room, handed him a bus ticket to Chang’an, and said, “You hardly ask for money from home for college, even the flight tickets are arranged by the school.

So, you need to feel comfortable when departing from home, and make sure to study hard in school, don’t waste such a good opportunity.”

Gazing at the white hair on his dad’s temples, Zheng Qing blinked and nodded forcefully.

“It’s strange how your school only has one charter flight, and they don’t accept parents to see off.” Mom came into the room at some point and complained happily, “Well, are you sure you don’t need money?

You should bring some from home anyway.”

“There’s no need, the school is closed off, there’s nowhere to spend money,” Zheng Qing thought about the shocking exchange rate between wizards’ currency and Soft Girl Coins, and felt regretful.

These days, he has organized the talisman notebooks under his bed, there were less than thirty intact ones.

According to the price he estimated from Four Seasons Pavilion, probably they can’t even be exchanged for one jade coin.

Perhaps he could consider earning a living by working part-time during his leisure time.

With this thought, he felt a spark of excitement.

“Just take it,” Dad finally decided, handing over a bank card: “There are a few thousand dollars in it.

Just use it for daily expenses.

The password is your birthday.”

“Hmm.” Zheng Qing decided not to refuse any longer and bowed his head in acceptance.

“You’re leaving soon, find some time to say goodbye to your classmates.”

“Don’t forget about Mr.Wu!” Professor Zheng came out of the study and reminded him.

“I know!” Zheng Qing nodded vigorously: “I’m going to San You Bookstore to see if the teacher is back today.”

On the day when he received the first college admission notice, Zheng Qing went to San You Bookstore to find Mr.Wu.

However, the bookstore was tightly closed, a notice board was placed on the window sill, which read “The owner is out, the store is temporarily closed for business.”

This had often happened over the past ten years or so.

Every autumn and winter, Mr.Wu would go out for a period with that Yellow Flowered Cat.

Sometimes he would be gone for ten days, sometimes for several months.

Zheng Qing still remembered when he was fifteen, Mr.Wu left before the Mid-Autumn Festival, and did not come back until the Spring Festival the following year.

According to Mr.Wu, he was out to save the world.

Upon hearing this, Zheng Qing would not ridicule him, but would merely keep his eyes on his nose, his nose on his heart, and remain silent.
