Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1153: Chapter 1154: There is a Way

But he dared not voice these grievances to Meng Xinian.

Meng Xinian said, ”It’s like this, I want to invite Uncle Hui and Aunt to come over to help out a bit, mainly to take care of a patient,” he glanced at Meng Chaojun, it was clear who the patient was. ”Also, they could prepare some medicine, clean up a little, and such—it’s somewhat burdensome for uncle and aunt.”

”This matter?”

Meng Cunhui looked at Meng Sheng in surprise and quickly said, ”It’s not a burden at all! Not at all, we’re happy to help however we can!”

”If uncle agrees, I will pay you and aunt eighty yuan each per month, and you can start tomorrow morning.”

”Salary? No need, no need,” Meng Cunhui was startled and quickly waved his hand, ”How can we take a salary? We’re just helping out as family, that’s how it should be...”

Meng Xinian shook his head and said, ”I’m Meng Chaojun’s son, so I should handle these matters. But, uncle and aunt have no obligation. Therefore, the salary is necessary, since uncle and aunt are willing to come over, then it’s settled.”

After he finished speaking, he stood up, ”As for Meng Sheng, I will need your help with something else in a few days.”

Meng Sheng also quickly stood up.

”Whatever I can help with, just let me know.”

After Meng Cunhui and his son left, Meng Xinian turned to Old Meng, ”Old man, can you tell who your family is now?”

Old Meng’s gaze was blank.

In the past, he truly hadn’t paid much attention to Meng Cunhui’s family.

With the large Meng Family staying in Capital City, Meng Cunhui’s family seemed rather useless in his eyes. Meng Cunhui and his wife even spent some time picking trash, and even now, they had nothing much to do at home and lived a miserable life.

Meng Sheng seemed to have never had much good fortune, muddling along for years, and was still staying at the security agency, doing odd jobs.

Meng Fan, serving as Supervisor Guard, also hadn’t achieved much.

Moreover, since they were slightly more distantly related, he paid them even less attention.

But it was precisely this family, which he didn’t take to heart, that truly cared about them, even speaking up for Meng Xinian just now.

”The Grandfather has gotten old, his eyes really aren’t what they used to be.”

Old Meng sighed deeply.

Meng Xinian didn’t say anything else and turned to walk toward the stairs.

”Xinian!”

Old Meng quickly called out to him.

”I know, we’ve all hurt Little, and we were all wrong. But we’re still a family, if there’s any resentment, let’s just clear the air, and not hold onto it, alright?”

He looked at Meng Xinian hopefully.

Meng Xinian turned around and countered, ”What would you like to say, Grandfather?”

”Little isn’t the kind of child who holds grudges, I know that—she’s an especially sensible girl. I’ll go and properly apologize to her, and she will definitely forgive me and your father.”

”No need, she’s going back to Huaming County in a few days anyway.”

Meng Chaojun’s face changed again.

Old Meng also cried out in alarm, ”What, she’s leaving?”

”If she doesn’t leave, is she supposed to stay at the Meng Family long term? She probably isn’t happy living here either.” Meng Xinian’s face was expressionless.

Old Meng became anxious, ”This is her home, I’ve already told her that this is her home. In her own home, what’s there to be unhappy about? Don’t worry, we definitely won’t cause any more trouble.”

”This is her home? Even Duan Qingqing can stand over her head and yell that she is the elder, how can this be her home?” Meng Xinian’s gaze flickered, then he said, ”However, I do have a way to make Little feel more at home here.”

”What way?” Old Meng quickly asked.
