Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 720: Chapter 721: The Child of a Dishonorable Family

Duan Qingqing knew the name Chen Mother right away and was momentarily stunned before responding, ”Xinian did not stay here...”

”Who are you trying to fool? The moment he returned to Capital City, he didn’t even go home but stayed at your place, his dad and I have known about that for a long time. Put him on the phone, his dad has important business with him.”

Chen Mother felt rather uncomfortable with Duan Qingqing’s tone, ”He really didn’t stay at home this time because Chen Yin has gone out of town.”

”Then where did he stay?”

”I heard he is staying at a guesthouse, but I don’t know which one.”

No sooner had Chen Mother finished speaking than the other party snapped the call to an end.

She stood dazed for a moment, then chuckled bitterly.

She had always thought they were all very protective of Meng Xinian, but it’s hard even for an upright official to settle a family dispute, and they couldn’t help him much with this matter.

Besides, given the current status of the Chen Family, they really couldn’t compare with the Meng Family.

After hanging up the phone, Duan Qingqing looked somewhat upset and, after thinking for a while, dialed another number.

”Hello, Xiao Li, this is Duan Qingqing. There’s something you need to handle right away, the quicker the better. Go find out which guesthouse Meng Xinian is staying at.”

After ending the call, Meng Chaojun came back with his briefcase.

The moment he entered, he was livid with rage, ”How come I’m hearing from the Gao Family that the bastard took some young girl to the hospital?”

Duan Qingqing hurried over to help him with his briefcase, then immediately went to fetch a pair of slippers, crouching down to put them on his feet.

As she did so, she spoke softly, ”Chaojun, don’t be anxious, don’t get angry, what if you make yourself ill? I think Xinian doesn’t seem like the kind of child to behave so rashly. The talk of him flaunting affection with that young girl in the hospital corridor might not be true.”

”What? Flaunting affection?” Meng Chaojun’s voice rose sharply, he angrily said, ”How come I heard that the girl looked to be just thirteen or fourteen years old? Could it be that the scoundrel has gotten involved with some disreputable family’s child?”

”That can’t be, you must trust your own child.” After putting on his slippers, Duan Qingqing ran to wash her hands, then brought him a glass of water and handed it to him, ”Drink some water first, you must be tired from a day’s work, rest a bit before thinking about Xinian. I think, he has always been an obedient child...”

If Meng Chaojun hadn’t been upset before, hearing her say that felt like a taunt, so he slammed the glass down onto the side table with such force that water splashed out.

”Obedient? If he is considered obedient, then are there any disobedient kids in the world? How many times has he caused trouble for me since he was young? How many messes have I had to clean up for him? How many times has he embarrassed me? That kid, obedient? No way, where is he, call him back here! I want to ask what good deeds he’s been up to this time!”

Duan Qingqing’s gaze flickered slightly as she tried to console him, ”Chaojun, think positively. I heard that after that young girl arrived, Fong Jianye woke up? Hasn’t the Fong Family considered her a blessing?”

Meng Chaojun became even more angry upon hearing this.

”A blessing? In my opinion, she just happened to be there at the right time! Fong Jianye had been unconscious all this while, and it just so happened he was going to wake up then, and she arrived right at that moment! If she is a blessing to the Fong Family, what is she to the Gao Family? I’ve heard that the Fong Family and the Gao Family are about to come to blows!”

”What? They are about to come to blows?”
