Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 712: Chapter 713 The Fight Begins

Father Fong was taken aback and immediately shook his head, ”How could that be possible? That the Meng family would do something so absurd? That little girl looked to be only thirteen or fourteen years old, how could she possibly be Meng Xinian’s fiancée? However, no matter who she is, Jianye, you must realize that getting to know someone with a life-saving medicine is definitely not a bad thing. If you really can’t be friends with Meng Xinian, at the very least, don’t be on hostile terms with him in the future. Also, if possible, try to get close to that young girl.”

Upon hearing his father’s words, Fong Jianye nodded.

”Dad, I understand.”

Chiang Xiao did not know about the Fong family and the Gao Family’s affairs, nor did she know Father Fong’s thoughts.

If she knew, she would also dismiss them.

Fong Jianye had intended to follow Gao Wei to beat up Meng Xinian. If he couldn’t be friends with Meng Xinian, then how could he possibly get along with her?

If it wasn’t for considering Meng Xinian’s sake, if it wasn’t for the fear that he might not wake up, which wouldn’t be beneficial to Meng Xinian, why would she have wasted a small spoonful of Spiritual Spring Water to give him?

Thinking about it now still made her feel heartbroken.

But she felt that being able to help Meng Xinian and ensure his safe getaway was worthwhile.

She had to return to her provincial city and couldn’t stay in the Capital City for too long, so after having lunch with Meng Xinian, she had Meng Xinian take her to the train back to the provincial city.

Although Meng Xinian was reluctant, he also knew she had her own things to attend to, her own life to live, and given her age, it wasn’t possible for them to be together all the time.

After seeing her onto the train, he returned to the guesthouse. Soon after, a Guard Officer came looking for him in a flurry of urgency, almost frantic.

”Captain Meng, Old Master and Old Tang are about to start fighting!”

Meng Xinian had a vein pop.

”Those old men, how old are they to still be fighting?”

”It seems to be about the pastries you left behind!” the Guard Officer added.

Upon hearing this, Meng Xinian hurried over.

Old Meng and the others were at Old Tang’s place.

Old Tang’s home felt pretty desolate now due to the numerous incidents, so he really appreciated these old fellows choosing to gather there when they had nothing else to do.

However, their usual gatherings involved just teasing birds, playing chess, listening to tunes, and bragging. It was the first time, like today, that they got into an argument over pastries during a tea party.

When Meng Xinian arrived, a fair-looking young lad was trying to persuade them with some helplessness.

”You shouldn’t eat too many sweet pastries to begin with. Three pieces each is already plenty. Now that they’re gone, is there a need to quarrel?”

The lad, around seventeen or eighteen years old, was dressed in a white shirt and dark blue trousers, looking rather pleasant on the eyes. But upon seeing him, Meng Xinian couldn’t help thinking about Old Tang’s behavior of attempting to poach from his territory, making it impossible for him to look kindly at the young man.

After all, this lad was none other than Old Tang’s grandson, Tang Qing.

Yes, that Tang Qing.

Meng Xinian took another look at him, once again sure that Chiang Xiaoxiao wouldn’t like such an immature boy.

With Chiang Xiaoxiao’s mature mind, dating a lad like this would be like looking after a little brother, wouldn’t it?

Hmm, Captain Meng quickly convinced himself.

”Tang Qing, you’re taking your grandfather’s side, huh? Clearly the favored grandchild, acting as if nothing’s the matter! Do you know that these pastries were made by my granddaughter-in-law! They’re not the same as the store-bought ones! I said each person could take one piece to try, but look at your grandfather, he went for piece after piece!” Old Meng huffed and glared, ”If you’re able, why don’t you find a granddaughter-in-law for your grandfather too, let her make pastries for him!”
