Chapter 362: Chapter 166: Uncertain, Domestic Outcry, Something is Wrong with This Kid!_2

After all, Chang’an was just the first stop on their journey, and this stop had concluded after Zhang Beixing’s fight with Ma Yuankai. There was no need to rush Chen Rourou so.

He still had to fight across the entire country, and there was plenty of time to enhance Chen Rourou’s abilities.

With this in mind, Zhang Beixing did not continue to linger in Chang’an but took Chen Rourou on the high-speed train to the commercial hub of Nanhe Province early in the morning.

Sure enough, just after getting off the train at noon, the local police approached him to inquire about his purpose for visiting the commercial hub.

Zhang Beixing, well-accustomed to such inquiries, directly told them that he came to challenge the Shaolin Temple.

The police noted it down and didn’t bother him further.

Afterward, Zhang Beixing and Chen Rourou checked into the hotel they had booked in advance.

After a brief discussion, they decided there was no time like the present for the challenge and headed for Shaolin on Song Mountain.

Shaolin Temple—just hearing the name, those unfamiliar might think it is a temple built on a mountain.

But in reality, Shaolin Temple is located at the foot of Wuru Peak on Song Mountain, officially named Temple in the Forest below Shaoshi Mountain.

Getting there was not difficult; a car ordered on the phone would take them directly.

Watching the ancient temple grow closer before his eyes, Zhang Beixing couldn’t help but feel a bit sentimental.

Shaolin Temple, as a place where Zen Sect flourished and one of the origins of Great Xia’s martial arts, is known as the ancestral court of Zen martial arts and the top temple under heaven.

Also, because generations of Shaolin warriors devoted themselves to studying and many masters would seek tranquility here after retiring from the pugilist world, continuing to develop their skills, the saying goes: ”All martial arts under heaven derive from Shaolin; Shaolin’s martial arts surpass all others.”

Zhang Beixing found himself sighing. Looking at the Shaolin Temple before him, he couldn’t help but recall the martial hero movies he watched as a child.

Besides Bruce Lee’s films, the most numerous were the Shaolin Temple series.

Especially the one directed by Jet Li, ”Shaolin Temple,” which was incredibly popular at the time.

As a child, Zhang Beixing even thought about shaving his head and becoming a monk because of this movie.

But this idea was quickly quashed after his parents ’treated’ him to a session of ’belt-stewed meat.’ Since then, Zhang Beixing had never entertained such a thought again.

Looking back now, it’s truly regrettable!

If I had known how lucrative Shaolin Temple was, even if my parents had crippled me, I would have crawled here to apprentice and join.

Growing up within the walls of Shaolin Temple and staying for ten or twelve years, I surely would have made a name for myself!

By then, earning millions a year, spending days at ’work’ chanting scriptures, and then spending nights at clubs with models—what a life that would be!

”Alas, what a pity!”

”Everything just slipped away! I failed to join Shaolin in my youth; during my school years, I failed to become a true ’hotshot’ and enjoy all the ’trendy combos’; I didn’t even get in on the action at the Great Snow Temple event!”

”Now that I’m twenty-one, fortunately, I’ve got over a million followers on Douyin and can make some money; otherwise, I’d really start to doubt whether I’m destined to be poor in this lifetime.”

Looking at Shaolin Temple, Zhang Beixing sighed with heartfelt emotion.

All those missed opportunities were pieces of the Rolls-Royce I could have bought!

Hearing his monologue, Chen Rourou beside him was baffled, ”Uncle Zhang, what are you murmuring about? What ’hotshot trendy combos,’ ’Great Snow Temple event’? Aren’t we here to challenge Shaolin Temple?”

”It’s nothing, just thinking about some things, don’t worry about it.”

Zhang Beixing waved his hand and adjusted his mindset.

During their conversation, their car stopped at the entrance of Shaolin Temple.

They weren’t allowed to drive any further.

Zhang Beixing and Chen Rourou got out of the car.

Stepping past the stone monument marked with ’Song Mountain Shaolin,’ they entered the territory of Shaolin Temple.

Though in recent years, Shaolin Temple had been plagued with endless scandalous news.

As the birthplace of Buddhism in Great Xia, Shaolin Temple was still thriving.

Even though it was already three in the afternoon, the road was still densely crowded with people.

There were pilgrims who had driven themselves here to offer prayers.

There were tour groups led by guides.

One could also see many young monks standing in front of shops, energetically selling souvenirs. The scene was bustling!

Zhang Beixing and Chen Rourou continued walking along the road.

Before long, a large training ground came into view.

Hundreds of teenagers stood on the ground, generally about fifteen or sixteen years old, brimming with youthful energy.

Combined with the martial arts they were practicing, they appeared exceedingly powerful and masculine.

These were students of the Shaolin Temple Martial Arts School.

Seeing this, Zhang Beixing’s eyebrows raised. To think I’d come to Shaolin Temple, not yet encountering the legendary Eighteen Bronzemen, but first stumbling upon this unexpected delight! He stopped, intrigued, to watch.

But it didn’t take long before disappointment appeared on Zhang Beixing’s face.

Fake! It’s just too fake!

To outsiders, these teenagers might seem impressive and spirited in their practice.

But to Zhang Beixing, an expert, their boxing was distinguished by just eight words: flashy and full of holes!

There’s some real skill, but precious little of it!

Most of the moves have been deliberately altered for show.

It’s no exaggeration to say that if Zhang Beixing were to jump down and fight these teenagers now, he alone could flatten all hundred or so of them without any issue!

This has completely veered into performance!
