Death Guns In Another World

Chapter 2045: When the Monster Roared

The mana-born beast bellowed again, the kind of sound that made bones rattle and blood run cold. The adventurers at the vanguard staggered, their shields vibrating under the sheer force of the roar.

”Forward!” the vice guild leader barked, her voice cracking like a whip. ”Form ranks! Spearmen up front, mages to the rear! Archers, loose the moment it moves!”

They obeyed, though their hands trembled. Rows of armored spearmen lowered their weapons, their formation bristling like the quills of a desperate beast. Behind them, archers nocked arrows glowing faintly with enchantments, while robed mages began their chants, runes swirling in the air.

Alex stood apart, arms crossed, watching silently. Nyx was still at his side, shadows writhing faintly around her feet. Her crimson gaze never left the beast.

The mountain quaked as the monster took its first step toward them. Its claws dug into stone, leaving glowing fissures in its wake. Energy poured off its body like heat from a furnace, warping the air with every breath.

”Now!”

The first volley of arrows launched into the sky. Dozens, then hundreds, streaking like falling stars. They struck the beastʼs body with ringing impacts, sparking off its scales. A few dug shallowly between plates of armor-like hide, but most shattered uselessly.

It hardly noticed.

The spearmen charged next, shouting to mask their fear. They thrust as one, a line of steel crashing against the beastʼs foreleg. Sparks flew, tips snapping against its scales. One managed to pierce flesh, drawing a streak of glowing blue blood that hissed on contact with the ground.

The monster roared in fury.

Its tail swept out like a mountain-sized whip.

”Brace!”

Too late.

The front line shattered. Dozens of spearmen were flung aside, bodies slamming into trees and boulders, armor crunching under impact. Dust and rock exploded into the air as the ground split from the force.

The archers fired again in desperation, arrows raining down. Mages unleashed fireballs, lightning bolts, and binding spells. Explosions lit the mountainside, flames engulfing the beast in a storm of destruction.

For a moment, hope flickered. Smoke billowed, covering the beastʼs massive frame. Adventurers cheered — until the smoke cleared.

The monster stood tall, unharmed, its scales glowing brighter as though feeding on the attacks. The blue veins across its body pulsed faster, absorbing magic like water into sand.

The vice guild leaderʼs eyes widened.

”…Itʼs devouring mana?”

The beast opened its maw. Inside, swirling energy coalesced into a blazing sphere of raw destruction.

”Scatter!” she screamed.

Too late again.

The sphere erupted into a beam of blinding energy, sweeping across the battlefield like a scythe of light. Trees disintegrated instantly, rocks turned to molten slag, and adventurers caught in its path were simply gone. A third of their formation vanished in a single attack.

The survivors stumbled back in horror, eyes wide with despair.

Alex finally moved.

He stepped forward, his boots crunching against cracked stone, the weight of his presence cutting through the chaos. His grin was faint but sharp, the kind he only wore when facing something that might actually kill him.

”Looks like playtimeʼs over.”

Nyxʼs voice followed, calm and cold.

”They are wasting themselves. If you delay any longer, there will be no one left to lead.”

Alex rolled his shoulders, then glanced back at the adventurers who were struggling to regroup. Their eyes found him instinctively — the Black Rank, the one they expected to rise when all else failed. Fear and hope mingled in their gazes.

He sighed.

”Guess itʼs my turn.”

The moment Alex drew his weapon, the atmosphere shifted. Shadows rippled faintly beneath his feet, Nyxʼs influence intertwining with his own killing intent. His aura rolled out like a storm, pressing down on those around him. Adventurers staggered back, gasping under the sheer weight of it.

Even the beast paused, its molten eyes turning toward him.

Alex smirked up at it.

”You noticed, huh? Good. Wouldnʼt want you dying without knowing who ended you.”

He vanished.

One instant he was on the ground, the next he was a blur of speed, crossing the battlefield in a heartbeat. His blade flashed upward, slamming against the beastʼs foreleg with explosive force. Scales cracked, blood spurted, and the monster bellowed in pain for the first time.

Its claw swung down instantly, a strike that could level a house. Alex twisted mid-air, narrowly dodging, landing against the slope of a boulder before launching himself back at its neck. His blade slashed again, sparks flying as scales shattered.

”Finally,” Alex muttered, his eyes blazing with excitement. ”A real fight.”

The beast retaliated with a roar, its body glowing brighter as mana surged wildly. Its claw swept, its tail lashed, its jaws snapped — each attack fast enough to flatten entire squads. But Alex weaved through the onslaught, every motion sharpened by training, every dodge a hairʼs breadth from death.

The adventurers watched in stunned silence.

He wasnʼt just fighting. He was dancing.

Each strike he landed tore deeper into the beast, forcing it back step by step. Blue blood splattered across the rocks, sizzling wherever it touched. The mountain shook under the weight of their clash.

Then the beast roared again — this time not in fury, but in desperation. It reared back, drawing in mana from the dungeon fissure itself. The blue light surrounding it intensified until its body glowed like a miniature sun.

The vice guild leaderʼs face went pale.

”Itʼs merging with the dungeon!”

The ground split open. Crystalline spikes erupted, stabbing toward Alex from every direction.

For the first time, his grin widened.

”Finally showing your real power, huh? Good.”

Shadows surged behind him. Nyx had lifted one pale hand, her crimson eyes glowing faintly. The shadows wrapped around Alexʼs form, reinforcing him, intertwining with his aura.

Together, they launched forward again.

The battlefield trembled as steel met scale, as shadow clashed with mana-born fury.

The adventurers, broken and battered, could only watch in awe and terror as Alex and the monster tore into each other, each strike threatening to shatter the mountain itself.

This was no longer just a battle for survival.

It was a war of dominance.

And Alex stood at the heart of it, his blood boiling, his grin refusing to fade.

”Letʼs finish this!”
