Death Guns In Another World

Chapter 2002: Welcome to Azurea!

The irony was palpable; the one who had ended him hadnʼt even bothered to take his valuables—they simply walked away as if it wasnʼt worth, they truly treated them as nothing than bugs.

In those final moments, he reflected on the meaningless life he had led, filled with greed and violence. As darkness enveloped his consciousness, those thoughts faded into oblivion forever. He shouldnʼt have really messed up with this duo but it was too late for regret now.

After putting the recent incident behind them, the duo pressed on. Alex suggested that Nyx cover her face with a mask to avoid drawing attention due to her overwhelming beauty. She complied, donning a simple white mask adorned only with a phoenix design etched between her eyebrows.

By the time they arrived at the massive gates of the city around 6 PM, a giant signboard hung above, its golden letters gleaming: ”Welcome to Azurea!”

A long line snaked its way toward the entrance of the Adventurerʼs City. The pair patiently waited their turn, which finally arrived after an hour. They stepped up to the checkpoint, where guards clad in silver armor stood watch.

”What are your names?” one of the guards inquired.

”Alexander and Nyx Touch!” Alex introduced them, while Nyx displayed no reaction to his use of his family name.

The guard nodded before asking another question. ”Is this your first time here?”

”Yes!” Alex replied.

”Place your hand on the sensor. Weʼll verify if you have any criminal records before issuing a temporary resident license. You can either fully register at the administrative buildings for normal citizenship or head to the Adventurerʼs Guild, which is the usual route for newcomers in this city.”

Alex acknowledged the head guardʼs explanation and stepped forward, placing his left palm on the magical sensor, which functioned like a digital scanner. Each person had a unique magical signature, so if he had any criminal history, it would be revealed.

The sensor showed no criminal records for Alex, meaning he passed the preliminary test.

”Pass. Itʼs 10 gold for a temporary pass,” the guard said.

Alex nodded and handed over twenty gold coins for both passes. Nyx also passed the preliminary test, and no one seemed to think it odd that she wore a mask; after all, she wasnʼt the only one with a unique appearance—everyone had their circumstances.

After a few minutes, the temporary passes were issued, granting them entry into the city.

”Welcome to Azurea, a home we are proud of,” the head guard said as he led them in.

What awaited them was nothing short of majestic: a sprawling metropolitan city, a perfect blend of fantasy and technology. Towering buildings stretched toward the sky, and flying vessels zipped overhead. The entire city was enveloped by a giant barrier that purified the air, making mana more abundant. People of various races and genders bustled about, either walking or using magic-powered vehicles.

A large 3D map displayed the various city districts, eliminating the need to ask passersby for directions.

Alex marveled at the breathtaking city; it was the most beautiful place he had ever seen. Though Nyxʼs face remained impassive, she, too, was awestruck by the cityʼs splendor deep down.

As if by magic, the city transformed into a vibrant spectacle, illuminated by dazzling neon lights that danced in the night, creating an enchanting atmosphere that was as lively as during the day.

Consulting the 3D map, Alex led the way to a three-star restaurant called ”The Wanderer.” The establishment was a five-story building, its name prominently displayed in bright neon letters that glowed invitingly against the night sky.

Upon arriving, they were greeted by a host who smiled warmly.

”Welcome to The Wanderer! A table for two?” he asked, his voice cheerful.

”Yes, please,” Alex replied, and the host guided them inside.

The interior of the restaurant was just as impressive as its exterior. Elegant chandeliers hung from the ceiling, casting a soft glow over the beautifully arranged tables. The atmosphere buzzed with conversation and laughter, creating a sense of warmth and camaraderie among the patrons.

The host led them to a cozy corner table with a view of the bustling dining area.

As they settled in, a server approached with menus in hand.

”Good evening! Can I start you off with some drinks?”

Alex ordered a refreshing mana-infused beverage, while Nyx opted for a simple herbal tea. They perused the menu, which featured an array of dishes from various cultures, each more enticing than the last.

After a few moments, they placed their orders—Alex chose a hearty meat dish accompanied by roasted vegetables, while Nyx selected a delicate seafood platter.

While waiting for their meals, they took in the ambiance. The soft music playing in the background blended seamlessly with the sounds of clinking glasses and cheerful chatter. It was a far cry from their recent encounter, and Alex felt a sense of relief wash over him.

Before long, their food arrived, beautifully presented and fragrant. The aroma tantalized their senses as the server set the dishes before them.

”Enjoy your meal!” the server said with a smile before moving on to the next table.

Alex took his first bite, savoring the rich flavors and perfectly cooked meat. ”This is incredible!” he exclaimed, his eyes lighting up with delight.

Nyx, too, found her dish delightful. Though her expression remained calm, the subtle smile that tugged at her lips spoke volumes about her enjoyment.

As they dined, they exchanged stories and laughter, reveling in the comfort of good food and each otherʼs company. For a moment, the weight of their recent experiences faded away, replaced by the joy of the present.

After finishing their meal, Alex leaned back in his chair, satisfied. ”I think this calls for dessert. What do you say?”

Nyx nodded, her mask still in place but her eyes sparkling with anticipation.

As they perused the dessert menu, the vibrant energy of Azurea continued to pulse around them, a reminder of the adventures yet to come.

Indeed, a new adventure was about to begin.
