Death Guns In Another World

Chapter 2013: The Girl who became a Mercenary 3

Saeko returned to her inn after a long day, feeling the weight of her recent victories settle comfortably on her shoulders. After a refreshing bath, she took a moment to reflect on the dayʼs events while savoring a simple meal of bread and cheese. The warmth of the food filled her with energy, and she welcomed the quiet as she mentally prepared for the challenges ahead. Soon, sleep enveloped her, and she drifted off, dreaming of the adventures that awaited her.

The following morning, she woke with the sun streaming through her window, its golden rays igniting her resolve. After a quick breakfast, she donned her gear and made her way to the Mercenary Guild, eager to take on another bounty mission. As she stepped through the guildʼs bustling entrance, the familiar sounds of chatter and clinking coins greeted her. She approached the mission board, scanning for her next target.

Her eyes landed on a new mission poster: a call for skilled mercenaries to hunt down a group of bandits operating in the nearby mountains. They had been wreaking havoc on travelers, ambushing carriages and leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. The bounty on their heads was substantial, but more enticing was the chance to put an end to their reign of terror.

Saeko wasted no time. She signed up for the mission, eager to confront these bandits and restore peace to the mountain roads. Equipped with her katana, throwing daggers, and provisions for the journey, she set off toward the mountains.

As she trekked along the rugged path leading to the bandit hideout, she kept her senses sharp, aware of the dangers that lurked in the wilderness. The air was crisp and fresh, filled with the scent of pine and earth. Soon, she reached a vantage point overlooking the bandit camp, nestled in a clearing surrounded by towering trees.

Saeko crouched low, observing the scene below. The camp was a chaotic collection of makeshift tents and a flickering campfire, with several bandits milling about, their laughter echoing through the trees. She could see the spoils of their raids—stolen goods piled high—and the sight fueled her determination. They were a blight on the land, and she would not let them continue their rampage.

Knowing she had to act quickly and quietly, Saeko called upon the Wind element, wrapping it around her body. The gusts enveloped her like a cloak, muffling her movements and blending her into the surrounding environment. She felt the power of the wind surge within her, and with a deep breath, she prepared to descend into the fray.

With agility, she leaped from her perch, her feet barely making a sound as she touched the ground. She moved like a wraith, gliding through the trees toward the camp. One of the bandits stood alone, his back turned as he tended to the fire. Saeko seized the opportunity, her katana drawn. In a swift motion, she was upon him, the Wind element guiding her strike.

A quick slice, and he fell silently to the ground, his body hidden among the shadows. She moved deeper into the camp, her heart racing with excitement. Each bandit she encountered met a swift fate, dispatched before they even realized what was happening.

One by one, Saeko picked them off, utilizing her stealth and speed. She would throw a dagger at a sentry, ensuring he was silenced before he could alert his comrades. With every enemy neutralized, her confidence grew.

As she approached the center of the camp, she found a group of three bandits gathered around a table, discussing their next target. Saeko crouched low, her breathing steady as she assessed the situation. They were oblivious to the danger that lurked just a few feet away.

With a flick of her wrist, she unleashed a gust of wind, sending a nearby branch crashing to the ground. The noise startled the bandits, causing them to turn and look toward the sound. Seizing the moment, Saeko sprang into action, her katana flashing in the dappled sunlight.

The first bandit barely had time to react before she was upon him, her blade slicing through the air. The second bandit reached for his weapon, but she was faster. A swift kick sent him sprawling to the ground, and she followed up with a precise strike to his throat, silencing him instantly. The third bandit, realizing his comrades had fallen, turned to flee, but Saeko was quicker.

With a swift motion, she threw a dagger, the blade embedding itself in his back. He stumbled forward and collapsed, the camp falling eerily silent. As the last echo of combat faded, Saeko took a moment to catch her breath, surveying the aftermath of her swift assault. The once-bustling camp was now a graveyard for the bandits, their reign of terror extinguished.

She moved through the camp, collecting evidence of their crimes—identifying stolen goods and gathering information that would be valuable to the guild. Among the spoils, she found a map detailing their routes and planned ambushes, and she tucked it away for later.

Just as she was about to leave, Saeko heard the distant sound of footsteps approaching. Her instincts kicked in, and she quickly ducked behind a nearby tree, her heart racing. Peering through the leaves, she spotted a group of bandits returning from a raid. There were five of them, and they were clearly unaware of the chaos that had unfolded in their absence.

Saekoʼs mind raced. She had to act quickly. The Wind element surged within her again, guiding her movements as she crept closer to the unsuspecting group. She could hear their laughter and boastful claims of their exploits.

As they neared the camp, she positioned herself strategically, waiting for the perfect moment. When they stepped into the clearing, she unleashed a powerful gust of wind, knocking one bandit off balance.

Chaos erupted as they struggled to regain their footing. Saeko seized the opportunity, her katana flashing as she struck. One by one, she took them down, her movements a blur as she danced among them, striking with lethal precision.

The bandits fought back, but they were no match for her speed and skill. The Wind element swirled around her, enhancing her agility and allowing her to evade their blows effortlessly. Within moments, the final bandit lay at her feet, defeated and gasping for breath.

With the camp now fully subdued, Saeko took a moment to relish her victory. She stood amidst the remnants of the bandit hideout, the sun setting behind the mountains, casting a warm glow over the clearing. The threat posed by the bandits had been eliminated, and the roads would soon be safe for travelers once more.

As she gathered her belongings, she felt a sense of satisfaction wash over her. The thrill of the hunt was intoxicating, and she loved every moment of it. With her mission accomplished, she made her way back down the mountain, the weight of her captured bounty lightening her step.

With each successful mission, she was one step closer to achieving her ultimate goal.

ʼʼI wonder how the others are doing?” she couldnʼt help but be curious.
