Death Guns In Another World

Chapter 1841 - 1631: Sparring against Lilith 4

With no time to waste, they launched into their next exchange. Alex spun the spear up from the ground with a swift kick, catching it in one fluid motion as he charged. The heat radiated from its fire-infused tip, lighting the air around him in a fiery glow. Lilithʼs eyes narrowed as she watched him approach, her whip coiling and uncoiling like a living thing as she prepared for his assault.

The ground beneath them seemed to tremble with anticipation as their battle resumed. Alex lunged, thrusting the spear forward with both precision and force, the flames spiraling out from its tip. Lilith sidestepped the strike, her movements a blend of grace and speed, and lashed out with the whip. It cracked and wrapped around the spearʼs shaft, trying to pull it from his grasp.

Anticipating her move, Alex held firm, twisting the spear sharply and sending a ripple down the length of the whip. The sudden jolt forced Lilith to release her hold, and she rolled out of the way just as he followed up with a sweeping arc of flames. The heat licked at her heels, but she was already darting back into the safety of the shadows.

For a moment, silence fell over the training ground as the fireʼs light flickered, casting dancing shadows across the stone floor. Alexʼs gaze darted from one dark patch to another, heart pounding with the thrill of the chase. He knew better than to let his guard down; Lilith was at her most dangerous when hidden.

Then, a spark of lightning shattered the quiet, and she emerged from the darkness, her whip snapping like a lightning bolt as it arced toward him. Alex twisted, narrowly avoiding the strike, the sharp crack reverberating in his ears. He countered by slamming the spearʼs butt into the ground, creating a ring of fire that forced her back.

Lilithʼs eyes met his across the fire-lit space, their gazes locking in silent challenge. Sweat dampened their brows, but neither faltered. This was no longer just training; it was a test of their resolve, their ability to push each other to the very brink.

Without warning, Lilith shifted tactics. She used her lightning to propel herself upward in a burst of speed, leaping high into the air. The whip followed her like an extension of her arm, and as she descended, it lashed out in a controlled arc, aiming to sweep Alexʼs legs. He jumped back, barely evading her strike, and immediately retaliated with a thrust that sent a plume of fire surging forward.

She landed gracefully, using her whip to catch and redirect the flames, sending them spiraling off to the side in a dazzling display of control. The energy in the air was electric, charged with both fire and lightning, their battle painting brilliant streaks of light across the darkened training ground.

Alex, seeing an opening, surged forward, spear poised to strike. But Lilith anticipated his move, meeting him head-on with a series of rapid strikes from her whip. Each snap cracked the air, parried or blocked by his spear. The duel had evolved into a close-quarters contest, their eyes fixed on each other, reading every shift, every breath, each muscle twitch that could signal the next move.

The pace quickened once more, their weapons moving so fast that they were almost a blur. Alexʼs fire-infused spear blazed, the heat radiating off it palpable. Lilithʼs whip seemed to dance of its own accord, crackling with lightning that shimmered along its length with each snap.

In a bold maneuver, Alex switched tactics. He thrust the spear forward, only to let go of it at the last second. The sudden abandonment of his weapon caught Lilith off guard. As she instinctively deflected the spear with her whip, Alex closed the distance in a heartbeat, using his raw strength to push her back.

Lilithʼs eyes widened, but her surprise lasted only a fraction of a second. She reacted swiftly, ducking under his outstretched arm and flicking her wrist to pull her whip around his leg. A quick tug and she had him off balance, forcing him to stagger sideways. Before he could recover, she used the momentum to press the advantage, her whip crackling as it wrapped around his arm.

He smirked, even as he was forced to one knee. ”You never make it easy, do you?”

”Whereʼs the fun in that?” she shot back, breathing hard, a playful gleam in her eyes.

For a heartbeat, they were locked together, neither willing to concede. But Alex, never one to stay down for long, harnessed a burst of flame at his feet, creating enough propulsion to push him back and free himself from her grasp. He rolled into a standing position, the fire dissipating around him as he reached for his discarded spear.

The distance between them reset, the tension simmering, each of them catching their breath. The training ground, now filled with scorch marks and faintly smoking trails, bore the marks of their intense sparring.

Alexʼs grin returned, fierce and full of challenge. ”Again?”

Lilithʼs answering smile was radiant, the edge of competition mixed with genuine joy. She nodded, her fingers tightening around the whip, ready for whatever came next.

”Sure why not.”

With a silent signal, they both unleashed the true extent of their powers, the intensity of the training ground surging to a whole new level. Lilith called forth her domain, a swirling blend of darkness infused with crackling veins of lightning. Shadows danced and twisted at her command, weaving around her like sentient tendrils, their energy electric and alive. The air thickened with the dual forces of shadow and light, charged with the imminent storm she controlled.

Alex, in response, reached deep into his core and summoned the power of his Time domain. A subtle shimmer enveloped him, bending the very air as if reality itself recognized his command. The world around him seemed to slow, time bending to his will. His vision sharpened, and with each heartbeat, he glimpsed brief moments one second into the future—just enough to foresee an incoming strike, an opening, a way to counter.

Lilith moved first, disappearing into a shroud of shadows. Her form flickered in and out of sight as she darted around him, lightning sparking in brief, brilliant flashes that illuminated her presence for a fraction of a second before she vanished again. Alex stood at the center of the storm, eyes narrowed, senses heightened. The foresight granted by his domain painted ghostly images of her path, fleeting hints of where she would be next. He turned, a heartbeat ahead of her arrival, and parried an incoming strike with preternatural precision.

Lilithʼs eyes widened briefly as her dagger met the unyielding steel of his spear, sparks flying. But she recovered in an instant, a smile playing on her lips as she pivoted and struck from another angle, her movements fluid and unpredictable. The darkness seemed to respond to her will, creating false silhouettes and confusing trails that tested even Alexʼs foresight.

”Youʼre faster than before,” Alex called out, his voice steady despite the heat of the battle. His eyes flicked side to side, tracking every shift in the shadows.

Lilithʼs voice echoed from the darkness, playful and taunting. ”And youʼre keeping up better than I expected.”

Suddenly, a bolt of lightning crackled toward him, splitting the dark with blinding light. Alexʼs foresight flared, showing him the strike an instant before it hit. He twisted aside, the air scorching as the bolt passed mere inches from him. Without pausing, he retaliated with a burst of flame, sending a shockwave outward that momentarily dispelled the surrounding shadows and revealed Lilithʼs silhouette.

Lilith was undeterred, embracing the chaos as she used the lightning to charge her whip. It glowed with an electric blue aura, humming with raw energy. She cracked it once, and a streak of lightning surged down its length, aiming for Alexʼs legs. He foresaw it and leapt just in time, twisting midair and countering with a swift thrust of his spear. The weapon, enhanced by the momentary manipulation of time, struck toward where she would be.

But Lilith was just as formidable. She felt the shift in energy and melded with the darkness, reappearing at his flank. Her dagger, infused with lightning, aimed for his exposed side. Alexʼs foresight screamed at him, and he pivoted, catching her blade with the shaft of his spear. Their eyes met for a heartbeat, the connection electric.

”Youʼre relying on those visions,” Lilith whispered, her grin fierce. ”But can they keep up with this?”
