Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 956: Chapter 461: Two-Pronged Approach (Second Update)

Lawrence Winters was even more surprised: ”But you are her parents, the people closest to her. How could you not know the direct cause when she’s in this state?”

This statement made the Blythe couple hang their heads in shame and murmur, ”Great Heavenly Master Winters, you’re right to reprimand us. We truly haven’t been competent parents. Because she’s always been so well-behaved, never causing trouble or complaints, always listening to whatever we say, and she’s almost eighteen now, we’ve been slightly neglectful...”

Lawrence Winters didn’t want to hear these meaningless words of self-reproach.

But seeing the couple so guilt-ridden, she also didn’t want to blame them too much.

Given the situation, blaming wouldn’t help. What they needed was to find the root of the problem and solve it.

She crossed her arms, stood up, and paced back and forth in the room, pondering, ”Let’s assume that besides the nightmares, there is indeed a direct cause for Miss Blythe’s mysterious sleep. So, tell me, from our Celestial Path Sect’s perspective, under what circumstances would a healthy girl fall into a deep, unbreakable sleep?”

This narrowed the scope, and it was precisely the specialty of the Book Prohibition Department in the ”Book Thirteen Curricula”.

Familiar with the Book Prohibition Department, Daoist Wang immediately said, ”There are many methods, like drugging, chanting spells, soul suppression, and nightmares.”

”Let’s temporarily rule out drugging.” Lawrence’s eyes lit up, ”If it were drugs, the doctors wouldn’t overlook it. What about chanting spells, soul suppression, and nightmares?”

This question touched upon Daoist Wang’s expertise, and he proudly gestured with his hands, saying, ”Chanting spells requires certain conditions and preparing the appropriate tools to cast them on the person concerned. However, it necessitates the spellcaster having a very high skill in the Celestial Path. In the Book Thirteen Curricula, I’ve studied for decades and have never seen anyone who could actually cast an effective spell.”

Everyone: ”...”

Lawrence Winters smirked slightly, ”What about soul suppression and nightmares?”

”Soul suppression and nightmares can happen simultaneously. If I use another term, you’ll understand better—Nightmare Town.”

The term Nightmare Town was indeed familiar to those in the Celestial Path Sect.

Mr. Zhuge nodded approvingly, ”Yes, I had the same thought. I also believe that if there is a direct cause, Nightmare Town is the most likely.”

He looked at everyone and said, ”Nightmare Town is Witchcraft. Upright folks in the Celestial Path Sect would never engage in such ethically compromising acts.”

Meaning, unscrupulous members of the Celestial Path Sect might still do it.

Lawrence Winters didn’t know much about Nightmare Town, other than making straw effigies to vent anger, but making effigies and beating effigies were the methods used by ordinary folks, not truly bizarre skills of the Celestial Path Sect.

Moreover, she didn’t believe making effigies could be so powerful as to put someone in an unending sleep, so she was just listening curiously to their discussion.

Seeing Mr. Zhuge also agree with his opinion, Daoist Wang was so delighted that he almost danced, saying, ”That’s right, that’s right! Righteous people in the Celestial Path Sect indeed wouldn’t do it, but every field has its rotten apples, and we are no exception.”

”The messes they make, we always have to clean up. It’s truly frustrating.” Another Daoist sighed.

Lawrence Winters felt a bit like laughing, but remembering they were on a live stream, she held back.

Seeing the three others had reached a consensus, she nodded and said, ”Alright, let’s temporarily consider Nightmare Town as the direct cause of Miss Blythe’s deep sleep. Now, new questions arise.”

”First, who subjected her to Nightmare Town?”

”Second, why Nightmare Town her?”

”Third, how did they perform the Nightmare Town ritual on her?”

”Only by solving these three problems can we find a true method to wake her up.”

Unconsciously, she had become the core among the four, guiding the topic’s direction.

Daoist Wang nodded in agreement, but then chuckled, ”...This seems to fall under the realm of Exorcism. The Peony Group is in luck.”

Lawrence Winters shook her head, contradicting, ”No, Nightmare Town is a result of both Feng Shui and malevolent forces. I believe a dual approach is necessary to solve the problem.”

Saying this, a thought crossed her mind.

If she remembered correctly, this was exactly what the Blythe couple had requested.

One requested to alter the Feng Shui, the other asked to dispel evil spirits...

That’s why it was chosen as a case for the competition, letting the two groups draw lots to decide the main direction.

If the true reason behind Alice Blythe’s deep sleep is Nightmare Town, then rectifying the Feng Shui and exorcising evil spirits need to work simultaneously to awaken her.

So from this perspective, were the Blythe couple really as forthcoming as they seemed?

What were they hiding?

It concerned the life and death of their only daughter. Why were they concealing it?
