Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 951: Chapter 460: Omnivorous (First Update)

Her voice slipped for a moment, and she almost blurted it out in a low shout.

Everyone in the big screening room heard it.

But they all pretended not to, and not a single person turned to look.

Aiden Sheldon tugged at the corner of his mouth and could only say, ”Back when I didn’t really understand her, I did think there was something wrong with her.”

Especially with Ruby Sheldon fanning the flames...

Thinking back on it now, Aiden still felt a bit ashamed.

”...So you understand her now? But you two aren’t close. Where did this ’understanding’ come from?” Ruby fell silent for a moment, then asked, not without sharpness.

Even Spring Spencer, sitting diagonally behind them, couldn’t help giving her a thumbs-up in her mind when she heard Ruby’s words.

Looks like she’d underestimated this pampered cousin.

It’s not that Ruby has no brains; it’s that up till now she never needed to use them.

She used to have Aiden’s unconditional pampering and protection—why would she need a brain?

But now...

Spring’s gaze grew a shade darker.

She lowered her eyes, took out her phone, and sent Kenneth Osborne a WeChat: Mr. Osborne, about the lawsuit, have you found a lawyer yet?

At this time Kenneth wasn’t looking at his phone; he was checking out an artificial intelligence program Quentin Parker had sent him.

The more he looked, the more excited he got, completely absorbed, even itching to deconstruct it himself and then write an app using the same logic.

When a straight-up STEM guy is immersed in work he loves, his mind really doesn’t wander.

Spring waited a while, but Kenneth still didn’t reply. She didn’t think much of it, put her phone away, and went back to watching the competition livestream.

At ten in the evening, the livestream ended, and so did the day’s events.

The drones would still keep following them, but once everyone went back to their rooms to sleep, there was nothing left for the drones to film.

It had just hit six o’clock—exactly when the Heavenly Masters were about to start working.

...

Lawrence Winters walked into the Peony guest room and saw a long table set against the wall, laid out with a buffet.

She raised her brows in surprise.

Daoist Wang took a disposable paper plate, helped himself to some stir-fried beef with scallions, deep-fried prawns, and fried chicken wings, then called out to Lawrence, ”Daoist Winters, come eat, let’s discuss tonight’s work while we eat.”

Lawrence laughed. ”It’s only been four hours since we finished lunch, and we’re eating again?”

Still, as she said it, she couldn’t help walking over and taking a look at the buffet.

Besides some common local ”fusion Oriental” dishes, the long table also held several particularly distinctive plates.

In a two-tier bamboo steamer sat a big bowl of steamed pork ribs in black bean sauce, and a bowl of deep-fried crab meat balls.

Lawrence lifted off the top tier of the steamer; underneath was a freshly steamed lobster, still sending up curls of heat.

Lawrence: ”...”

These just happened to be her absolute favorite dishes!

Daoist Wang came over grinning. ”This steamer was specially sent to Daoist Winters by Mrs. Zhu—turns out it’s lobster... But I still prefer deep-fried prawns, they’re especially delicious. Want to try some?”

Lawrence shook her head with a smile. ”One lobster and I’m full.”

As she spoke, she stacked the two tiers of the bamboo steamer back together, found a place to sit, and took the dishes out.

Right in front of her was a bright red lobster, paired with sweet corn, a bit of cheese, and some steamed vegetables—it was so delicious it could make your eyebrows fall off.

The other three people in the room had all eaten lobster before, and none of them were big seafood fans, but watching Lawrence eat with such obvious delight, they all subconsciously swallowed.

Even the people watching the livestream were getting hungry.

It was six in the morning back in China; the night owls who liked staying up late hurried to grab their phones and order delivery, and while they were at it, added a lobster to their lunch orders.

Lawrence had no idea she’d just boosted sales for ”steamed lobster.”

After eating a few deep-fried prawns, Mr. Zhuge took a paper napkin and wiped his hands, saying, ”Let’s talk while we eat.”

Daoist Wang and the other Daoist nodded repeatedly in approval.

Lawrence also nodded. ”You go first.”

Mr. Zhuge didn’t stand on ceremony.

Anyway, this round they were all grasshoppers tied to the same rope—if they lost to the other side, they’d all be eliminated, so none of them had any other agenda.

He said, ”In terms of Feng Shui, we all checked when we came in. The red brick road outside is the handiwork of our Grant Branch. If I’m not mistaken, more than twenty years ago my master personally set up that Geomantic Formation for them.”

Lawrence swallowed a mouthful of sweet lobster meat, narrowed her eyes in satisfaction, and said, ”That Geomantic Formation is very well done. It not only suppresses the baleful energy of this house, it also transforms both the red brick road’s and the house’s sha into wealth. — If I’m right, the Zhu couple should have only started making their fortune after they moved into this house.”
