Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 952: Chapter 460: No Restrictions on Meat or Vegetables (First Update)

It’s only been more than twenty years.

”Why don’t we invite Mr. and Mrs. Zhu over to ask them? Anyway, they are free now,” Daoist Wang said casually, ”They can also join us for dinner too.”

He pointed to the long table with plenty of buffets left.

Lawrence Winters looked at the lobster he had already half-chewed, silently placed it back onto the plate, and returned it to the second compartment in the steamer so the top compartment pressed it down, avoiding a mess...

There was still a bowl of spareribs in black bean sauce to eat slowly.

Mr. Zhu opened the door, poked his head out, and asked someone to call over Mr. and Mrs. Zhu.

When Mr. and Mrs. Zhu came in, they habitually looked around, and only after seeing Lawrence Winters did they look relieved, beaming with smiles, ”Hello, esteemed Heavenly Masters. We apologize if our hospitality is insufficient; please pardon us.”

”You’re too polite! Too polite! The hospitality is wonderful! Really wonderful!” Daoist Wang laughed and exchanged pleasantries with them, ”Have you had dinner yet? Would you like to eat something with us? The buffet you’ve arranged is really delicious, thank you!”

”As long as you heavenly masters like it,” Mr. Zhu smiled and nodded, ”Then we’ll just eat casually.”

He gave Mrs. Zhu a look.

Seeing the bamboo steamer in front of Lawrence Winters, Mrs. Zhu breathed a sigh of relief and smiled, ”Alright, thank you, esteemed heavenly masters.”

She and Mr. Zhu each grabbed a paper plate and casually loaded it with some fried chicken.

Lawrence Winters observed coldly, thinking the two might not enjoy the taste of their food.

But they still ate hard, seemingly trying to blend into the ambiance.

Lawrence Winters’ eyes flashed slightly, and he spoke, ”Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Zhu, for the lobster. It was delicious.”

”Oh? Really? It’s great that you, the Great Heavenly Master, liked it! Great to hear!” Mrs. Zhu was joyfully excited.

Mr. Zhu softly coughed, saying, ”Mr. Zhu, Mrs. Zhu, we were just discussing whether you started your fortune-building more than twenty years ago according to the feng shui of this house?”

Mr. Zhu put down the fried chicken, quickly saying, ”Yes, we have to thank the old Great Heavenly Master. He helped us with the house, rectifying the geomantic formation to gather wealth.”

”More than twenty years ago, we were still salarymen, working from nine to five every day, occasionally having to work overtime. After my father-in-law passed away, he left us an inheritance. We divided the money into two parts, used one for the down payment on this house, and the rest as our startup capital to begin entrepreneurship.”

Mrs. Zhu seemed to recall the days of starting a business, tears gleaming in her eyes, ”We were full of enthusiasm back then, working for ourselves, no longer nine-to-five, but hoping to work twenty hours a day.”

”A few years later, I became pregnant and felt it affected my work. I even wondered if I shouldn’t have a child...” Mrs. Zhu dropped her head, her voice choked.

Mr. Zhu quickly handed her a tissue, ”We were the same at that time, youthful and impulsive, neglecting our health for work.”

”...I was still in the laboratory doing experiments while pregnant,” Mrs. Zhu said, blushing, ”Several times I nearly miscarried...”

Lawrence Winters raised an eyebrow, ”Huh? You were entrepreneurs, so why were you doing experiments in a lab?”

Mr. Zhu became extremely nervous when he heard her question.

He hurriedly put down his chopsticks, sitting upright and respectfully said, ”Both of us majored in biochemistry, our startup was also involved in biochemical reagents, selling to labs worldwide and major companies’ R&D departments.”

”Before we earned money to buy large equipment, we had to do it ourselves...” Mrs. Zhu’s voice choked again.

Mr. Zhu and Daoist Wang, along with another Daoist, listened without speaking.

Lawrence Winters understood, ”So that’s how it is. Did the experiments impact your child?”

”...Yes.” Mr. Zhu admitted frankly, ”Not only our child but also impacted our health. But we didn’t care back then because as long as we did protection properly, or took some medicine, we’d be fine.”

”Later, during childbirth, my wife suffered from massive hemorrhage due to dystocia, nearly losing her life.”

”...After many hardships, our daughter was born, particularly small and sickly during her month in bed. We took her everywhere to see doctors, barely saving a little life,” Mr. Zhu sighed deeply, wiping tears.

”After all the effort raising her, she is almost an adult, yet now such a bizarre event has occurred...”

Mrs. Zhu suddenly raised her head, looked at Lawrence Winters, and said, ”Great Heavenly Master Lawrence, you must help us! Please help us!”

She slowly clasped her hands together and made a gesture toward Lawrence Winters.

Lawrence Winters immediately understood what her gesture meant.

She was reminding her of the little note that said ”Excessive misdeeds lead to doom.”
