Wizard: I Add Points and Hunt Monsters

Shawa’s pale eyes showed no emotion, but as she watched Wei’en’s fluid potion-making process, it felt like a stone was caught in her throat, making her miserable.

’I’ll never learn... I’ll never learn...’

In contrast, Zero watched with relish, muttering to himself, ”Enlightenment Potion. Creation time: 20 seconds. First, add the Vengeful Spirit’s essence, stir clockwise three times, then add the brain matter, 3 seconds...”

Clearly, Zero didn’t understand alchemy at all; he just memorized each step.

But Wei’en didn’t dare let him start making Magic Potions himself so soon.

As he had said before, while making a Magic Potion by the book could increase the success rate, success didn’t guarantee the potion would be of high quality.

Even with two sets of ingredients of identical quality, the fusion process would be different. This required the Alchemist to perceive the subtle variations and adjust accordingly at a moment’s notice.

Eventually, Zero noticed this as well and asked in confusion, ”Father, is the creation process and sequence different for every single Magic Potion?”

Wei’en reassured him, ”Just memorizing the formula and steps isn’t enough. You need hands-on experience. But there’s no need to rush. Take your time.”

He finally understood how arduous it was for a rune scholar or an Alchemist to develop their skills.

Even though Zero could craft bullets and some mechanical parts, and could memorize the steps for making a Magic Potion, it would still take a great deal of time for him to truly develop.

’And how much time did other Wizards have to learn all this?’

’Perhaps the Wizards of the Ghost Soul School have it a bit better. At least they don’t have to spend vast amounts of time on Meditation.’

”You two continue making bullets here. I’m heading back to my room.”

”Yes, Father.”

Shawa nodded. ”Mm.”

Wei’en exchanged for more metal materials, leaving Shawa and Zero to make bullets in the workshop while he returned to his attic bedroom.

[Congratulations, you have survived another day. Evaluation: It seems you are already experiencing the world’s excitement. Reward: Survival Points +3.]

’Another day survived...’

’Excitement?’

’If encountering the Abyssal Sect and the Desire Sect counts as ’exciting,’ then what would a truly peaceful and quiet life even look like?’

Wei’en looked out the window. A red moon hung high in the overcast night sky, and he could only vaguely make out the silhouette of Caster below.

The clearest sight was the nearby Krimms Cathedral—its clock tower face and various spires were all illuminated by the Dawn Radiance.

’I imagine the followers of Dawn sleep soundly at night when they see this.’

SWISH!

’Why am I thinking about that stuff? If I could just get into the Ghost Soul School to study and live, I’d be able to sleep soundly too...’

Wei’en drew the curtains, once again feeling a surge of motivation.

’Right now, I’m only 110... no, 109 Spirit levels away from advancing to Official Mage.’

Just while he had been busy making Magic Potions, his four Origin Power sources had granted him an increase of 1 Spirit level and 0.1 Toughness level.

’After studying his panel for some time, he’d figured out there were three ways to gain basic attributes.’

’One: kill Extraordinaries or aberrations.’

’Two: learn new runes or new Magic Potion formulas.’

’And the last was to come into contact with all sorts of hidden entities or knowledge, such as the Lord of Desire Mitra, the Gonzalez language, forbidden items, and so on...’

’But given his current situation, the safest and most cost-effective method was the second one.’

’To be precise, by drawing runes and upgrading their proficiency levels.’

’With his current 601 survival points, he could level 60 runes to their maximum, gaining a reward of 120 Spirit levels—enough to advance to Official Mage.’

’However, he wanted to wait a little longer.’

’At the very least, he wanted to level up his existing skills to a point where they couldn’t be upgraded any further in the short term before he advanced.’

’Mechanical Box, Foundation, Puppet Manipulation Skill...’

’These were Magic skills that only required a three-digit number of survival points to upgrade. By that calculation, he was still short 3,600 survival points.’

Wei’en stroked his chin, pondering. ’Is 3,600 survival points too much?’

’What if I just upgrade the Ghost Meditation Technique by one level, then go all-out to advance to Official Mage?’

’That way, I would only need to save up another 1,000 survival points.’

Wei’en counted the number of skills on his panel. Excluding the Gonzalez language and marksmanship, he had learned a total of 17 Magic skills.

’Even within the Ghost Soul School, there probably aren’t many Wizard Apprentices who have learned this many Magic skills and raised them to a respectable level, right?’

’That settles it. I’ll advance after I save up another 1,000 survival points!’

Having made his decision, a smile touched the corners of Wei’en’s lips.

’I wonder what kind of talent I’ll awaken when I advance to Official Mage. Hopefully, it’s the kind that multiplies my combat power by several hundred or a thousand times—the kind that can shatter the world with a single punch...’

With that thought, Wei’en took out his Nightmare Realm Entry Ticket, entered the Nightmare Realm World, and arrived once again beside the tower in the Transfer Area.

”Hmm, the number is already up to 44.”

Only two days had passed since the gathering at the tower, but his Origin Power had already increased by 11 points. The number displayed on his forehead in the Gonzalez language had now reached an impressive 44.

It was almost the same as Nana Mage, the organizer of the last gathering.

”...Have you heard? The Heroic Saintess from the Dawn Church has already swept through two city-states, killing several hundred Extraordinaries.”

”The stories of her deeds have been spreading for the past two days. I hear the Despair Sect suffered the worst losses; two of their Director Level members were killed.”

”That Saintess isn’t just blessed by the Dawn Origin; she also wields a forbidden item. An ordinary Director Level couldn’t hope to resist her, let alone escape.”

”Everyone, be careful. It’s a good thing she’s only active on the Eastern Continent for now, otherwise...”
