Wizard: I Add Points and Hunt Monsters

”Who isn’t tired? I’m telling you, get up. Otherwise, if the higher-ups find out, you’ll have hell to pay, even if it doesn’t kill you.”

”Say, boss, why are we digging this secret tunnel here anyway?”

”You’re asking me?”

The middle-aged man beside him wiped the sweat from his brow, glanced over, and snapped, ”My pay is only 1 shilling a week more than yours. Do you really think I’d know what the higher-ups are thinking?”

”It’s that secret? Even you don’t know?” The man on the ground climbed to his feet, sidled up next to him, and whispered, ”Is there some kind of treasure hidden over there? Are the bosses planning to grab it?”

”Shut up and get back to work!” The middle-aged man glared at him.

”Fine, don’t tell me then~”

”Huh?” Before the middle-aged man could even process that unsettling voice, he lost consciousness.

”You keep working here. I’m going to go find the others to play with~”

The middle-aged man didn’t respond. With a vacant stare at the rocks before him, he simply raised his shovel and resumed digging, over and over.

”How boring.”

The tall, burly man pouted, then began to walk with a ”seductive” gait, swaying his hips as he ventured deeper into the tunnel.

She was curious to see just what these people from the Black Pearl were plotting.

Meanwhile, at a port west of the Basil District.

Several figures disembarked from a small boat, boarded a covered carriage, and made their way toward the Basil District.

Upon returning to the office, Wei’en and the others were instructed to head to the Detention Area out back to attend a farewell ceremony for Director Ales.

After the guard who had delivered the message left the office, the faces of Lisi and the others grew somber. One by one, they straightened their uniforms, their hearts exceptionally heavy.

”Why in the Detention Area?”

After leaving the office, the group followed Minister Yegor toward the Detention Area.

”When an Extraordinary—especially a powerful one—dies, their flesh and blood retain Extraordinary Power. Their remains cannot be disposed of carelessly.”

Lisi explained calmly, ”If touched by an ordinary person, or an Extraordinary of insufficient strength, they will be contaminated and corrupted by the Extraordinary Power within the corpse.”

”That’s why everyone from the Secret Investigation Department who is sacrificed on a mission is placed in the Detention Area. There’s a specially designated Heroic Spirit Hall there.”

’Heroic Spirit Hall...’

Wei’en understood. ’So the corpse of an Extraordinary is a source of contamination, too.’

He recalled the prompt he’d seen on his panel. When facing the corpse of an Extraordinary, it had prompted him that he could use Soul-Devouring Magic to devour it.

’This must be a clear indication of the corpses’ contaminating properties, right?’

It wasn’t until Wei’en followed the procession to the entrance of the Detention Area that he realized just how large the Secret Investigation Department was. Combining all its departments, there were well over three thousand members.

Even if only half of them were Extraordinaries, that was still a terrifying force!

At the entrance to the Detention Area, he also spotted the newly appointed head of the Secret Investigation Department: Director Nifa, a woman with an incredibly stunning figure.

Unlike Lisi’s sturdy build, Director Nifa possessed a more mature allure.

She wore a somewhat loose-fitting red robe. On her left, the robe stretched over a curve no less impressive than Lisi’s, marked with the Secret Investigation Department’s ”Gunfire” insignia.

She wore a black veil that covered her face, revealing only a pair of black eyes, deep and serene.

’She seems like a Director who won’t be easy to get along with...’

Just as the thought surfaced in Wei’en’s mind, the gates to the Detention Area swung open, and everyone began to file inside in silence.
