Wizard: I Add Points and Hunt Monsters

Wei’en sighed and took out the tools of his trade as a low-level Intelligence Officer for the Ghost Soul School. He realized it had been two days since he last submitted a report.

So, he decided to transmit a summary of recent events.

”August 18, 1578. Weather: Overcast and rainy.”

”A major event—or rather, two major events—took place in the Caster City State. First, last night, the City-State Secret Investigation Department eliminated all Bone-Eating Worm hosts. The exact number is unknown.”

”Second, Director Ales Kilibali of the Secret Investigation Department and several Extraordinaries from the Abyssal Sect perished together...”

”The new Director of the Secret Investigation Department is Nifa Lethia Ellis...”

”Additionally, crew members from the Black Pearl have been spotted in the Caster City State. It is suspected that the Sea Emperor is in the vicinity...”

”End of report. Wei’en Loft, Intelligence Officer, Caster City State.”

After finishing, Wei’en put the ”typewriter” away and sat to the side, waiting for his payment from the Ghost Soul School.

He’d exchanged information with others in the Nightmare Realm World before, so he had a rough idea of what this report was worth.

Any information concerning the movements of the Black Pearl’s captain was worth 50 gold pounds.

’And the intel on the Abyssal Sect, especially since the Director of the Secret Investigation Department sacrificed himself over it... That has to be worth at least 50 gold pounds, right?’

’I didn’t know the value of this information before, so getting ripped off by the Liaison Officer was one thing. But if they try any funny business this time, they can’t blame me for upgrading to Intelligence 3.0.’

CLINK, CLANK...

A series of crisp, pleasant clinks came from the blue and white box.

’Sounds like quite a bit?’

Wei’en opened the box and glanced inside. Dozens of 1-gold-pound coins lay within, glittering under the light of the room’s candle and gas lamp.

”One, two, three... Forty gold pounds?”

’Is that... half the payment for the intel?’

’A fifty-fifty split?’

After a moment of thought, Wei’en figured out the Ghost Intelligence Department’s commission structure for its low-level intelligence officers.

’Not bad. It’s much more than before...’

He was already quite satisfied to receive such a large payment.

Compared to the pitiful 6 pence from before, 40 gold pounds was an astronomical sum.

’Don’t you worry, my predecessor,’ Wei’en thought. ’I’ll definitely send that inhuman Liaison Officer your way. When I do, you can have your revenge however you see fit...’

Wei’en looked at the 285 gold pounds, 12 shillings, and 3 pence on his table. With this much money, he could exchange for a lot of things.

’Although, it’s not like I urgently need to trade for anything at the moment... is there?’

At this thought, he opened his panel to check the information on it.

”2,356 Survival Points?!”

’That many?’

A smile had just formed on Wei’en’s face, but it froze the moment he glanced at his skill list.

He had already raised his most-used Magic skills to Level 3, and now upgrading them again would cost at least 3,000 Survival Points each. With just over two thousand points, he couldn’t even afford a single level-up.

No choice.

He would just have to upgrade the few Magic skills he could afford.

Wei’en hadn’t forgotten what the *Apprentice’s Handbook* mentioned: the more Magic one learned and the higher their levels, the better the talent they would receive upon advancing to Official Mage.

Survival Points consumed: 1,755!

Having upgraded so many Magic skills at once, a flood of experience on how to use them rushed into Wei’en’s mind. The most prominent among them was his new Master-level gunsmanship.

’So it can be done like this...’

After his gunsmanship was upgraded to the Master level, Wei’en’s understanding of firearms had deepened.

This was especially true regarding his control over the bullet after it was fired.

He could not only control its trajectory but also add extra spin to the bullet the instant he fired, increasing its attack power.

His other Magic skills didn’t disappoint either. Their effects were enhanced, and their required Spiritual Power consumption was also reduced.

’My Spiritual Power is just one hundred points shy of advancing to Official Mage...’

Wei’en looked at his panel. His Spiritual Power was about to reach 300, leaving him just one hundred points short of the 400 needed to advance to Official Mage.

His progress over the last few days had been immense.

But he also knew this level of strength wasn’t enough—at least, not when facing those at the director level!

Based on Wei’en’s observations, so-called captain-level individuals had at least one base attribute over 400, while the base attributes for director-level individuals started in the thousands.

The only reason he could go a few rounds with some director-level opponents was because of his Origin Power.

This was especially apparent during his last battle with the Thorn Demon.

At the time, his Resilience Level was 150 and his Spirit Level was 250. After adding the 400% boost from his Origin Power, his actual combat strength barely reached the director level.

That was the only reason he could barely keep up with the Thorn Demon’s attack speed.

Without the bonus from his Origin Power, his normal strength was only equivalent to that of an Extraordinary who had just reached the captain level.

However, Wei’en knew that battles between Extraordinaries couldn’t be judged by levels or simple numerical calculations alone.

For instance, the few spells he had learned that were fused with the Death God Origin Rune were clearly more powerful than what an ordinary Wizard could achieve.

Not only that, but there was also the charming decoy from his Blink Spell, the stacking explosive damage from his Corpse Explosion Skill, the percentage-based attribute enhancement from his Heart of Flesh and Blood...

All these special effects raised his overall strength to a level far exceeding that of other Wizards of the same rank.

’Tch. What’s the point of thinking about all this?’

’Time is precious. Who knows when those villains will show up? Getting stronger is what’s important.’

Wei’en looked at the cauldron for brewing Magic Potions and the drill press for constructing Mechanical Puppets in his workshop, contemplating his next path to improvement.

’I almost forgot!’

’That new Magic Potion recipe I got from the Blood Spirit School—the Aberration Suppression Potion.’

’Two days have already passed since then.’

’I should be able to produce two bottles of the Aberration Suppression Potion to put those two Blood Spirit Mages at ease...’

At this thought, Wei’en took out the various materials for making the Aberration Suppression Potion from his Space Ring: the fangs of a vampiric beast, Lanji Grass, Polar Ice and Snow...

Only after carefully studying the recipe for the Aberration Suppression Potion and memorizing every step of the process did he begin his work.

[You have successfully created an Aberration Suppression Potion. Your Potionology knowledge tree has gained Aberration Suppression Potion Knowledge, Lvl. 1. Special Reward: Survival Points +3, Spirit Level +1.]

”This time, those 1,600 gold pounds are as good as mine!”

THUD!

Wei’en had just maxed out the Aberration Suppression Potion’s level when he heard a muffled thud from downstairs. He immediately extended his spiritual senses to investigate.

Hm?

’Clelia’s injured?’

Without a second thought, he had the Secret Master cast a Blink Spell, appearing directly in the first-floor bedroom.

”Are you alright?”

”Wei... Wei’en... Quick... hurry...”

PS: I went out drinking tonight and got back late... so this Chapter is a bit short.

Also, there will be an extra Chapter tonight, but it will be very late. Everyone, please get some rest.
