The Sea Queen of 1985

Chapter 398: Chapter 398: Ball Crown Pearlscale Goldfish

Kuno Hiroo nodded. ”Of course I want to see. While white is very popular, other colors will also sell well, as long as they’re unique.”

Although he had many other profitable businesses, and ornamental fish sales were lucrative, they certainly weren’t profitable enough on their own to warrant this level of personal attention.

The main reason was that ornamental fish allowed him to build a larger network of connections.

Especially now, with the large tanks and Fengshui Fish that were imbued with metaphysical properties, they were a favorite among many people.

Han Xiaorui began her introduction. ”Look, if we’re talking about the most beautiful fish here, it would have to be this Pearl Crown Goldfish. Its color, its form... isn’t it gorgeous?”

”This is a mature fish, and next to it are the juveniles. They’re so round and plump, like a pot full of meatballs—absolutely adorable. For people who enjoy raising fish from a young age, this type of goldfish is incredibly rewarding.”

”There’s also a variety called the Crown Globe Pearl Goldfish, which has a very round, plump belly. Because its abdominal cavity is quite large, it’s sensitive to water pressure and best raised in shallow water. It was an accidental breed, but I thought it was cute, so I decided to keep it.”

Kuno Hiroo looked at the Globe Pearl Goldfish. Seeing that they came in four colors—red-and-white, black, calico, and white—he immediately declared, ”I’ll take however many you have right now.”

(Orchid Pearl Goldfish)

Han Xiaorui was secretly delighted. ’She knew it. Her customers from Japan loved these more unusual types of goldfish.’

”Alright, the first batch is all yours. The second batch can go to other customers,” Han Xiaorui agreed. ’I have to use Kuno Hiroo to open up the sales channels so I can sell them to others at a high price.’

After completing the tour, Kuno Hiroo said with admiration, ”Ms. Han, your fish farm’s research and development capabilities are simply incredible. You frequently have new varieties, and they are always a pleasant surprise.”

Han Xiaorui was quite pleased to hear this. ”Thank you for the praise.”

Kuno Hiroo extended an invitation. ”In mid-July, there’s a world-class goldfish competition in Japan. I suggest your farm enter. I can guarantee that if you enter many of your varieties, they are sure to win gold medals.”

Han Xiaorui nodded. ”What are the benefits of entering the competition?”

Kuno Hiroo gave Han Xiaorui a look of slight exasperation. ”To build a premium brand for your goldfish, of course! Take your Panda Butterfly Tails, for example. You need to make them seem as rare and precious as actual pandas to maintain their high price point.”

Hearing this, Han Xiaorui’s eyes lit up. ”That’s a great idea. I’ll enter. Please send me whatever information I need to register. I’ll use the Panda Butterfly Tails this time. I’ll use different colors of them to take the top prize.”

Kuno Hiroo nodded. ”Alright. I’ll have someone mail you the registration information when I get back. We’d welcome your participation.”

”The registration process isn’t difficult, is it?” Han Xiaorui asked.

Kuno Hiroo smiled. ”Of course not. I’m one of the sponsors for the competition. Getting you a spot to compete will be a piece of cake.”

”Only by promoting goldfish and making more people aware of their beauty, the culture behind them, and the wonderful symbolism and benefits they represent, can I sell more of them at higher prices.”

”The only thing is, you’re quite far along in your pregnancy. You may not be able to attend the competition next month, which is a bit of a shame. However, the competition is held every three years, so there will be other opportunities. Perhaps next time, we can hold it in Hua Country.”

At this, Han Xiaorui’s eyes lit up again. ”That’s right! After three years of development, Shencheng will have undergone tremendous changes. Holding a competition like that here then should be entirely possible.”

”I can be one of the sponsors, and I’ll need your help then, Hiroo. Of course, I’m not the type to ask for help for free. You scratch my back, and I’ll scratch yours.”

Kuno Hiroo gave a slight smile. ”Then it’s a deal. And you can stop being so wary of me, as if I were a thief. After all, we have many collaborations, and they’re all at a very high level.”

Han Xiaorui nodded, readily offering the pleasantry—it cost her nothing, after all. ”You are a trustworthy partner!”

After they left the ornamental fish farm, Kuno Hiroo made another request. ”I’d like to visit your K-9 training base!”

Han Xiaorui looked puzzled. ”I know you were interested in our police dogs last time, but I told you then that it’s not my decision to make. If you want them, you have to apply through the proper government channels.”

Kuno Hiroo nodded. ”The relevant parties back home are hoping to send a group of native Japanese Akitas to be trained here in Hua Country.”

Han Xiaorui was surprised. ”Didn’t you say last time that you wanted to import police dogs directly from Hua Country?”

Kuno Hiroo replied, ”That was our plan, but we were rejected. The official response was that their police dogs are not for export; they only serve to protect Hua Country.”

”If we want K-9s as capable as Heizi and Dahuang, we have to send puppies from our own country to be trained here, and then transport them back once the training is complete.”

Hearing this, Han Xiaorui understood the deeper implication.

’Even the police dogs wouldn’t be traitors!’

”In that case, you can just send over a batch of ’study abroad dogs’!” Han Xiaorui laughed. ”Once they’ve completed their studies, we’ll send them back. As for the fees, I’ll discuss it with the relevant departments.”

When Kuno Hiroo heard those three words, ”study abroad dogs,” he laughed as well.

As their exchanges deepened, so did the level of permeation.

There were many things both sides understood; everything was left unsaid.

’Hua Country is still developing; they couldn’t afford to be too picky about certain things.’

’First, learn the technology and focus on development. As for traitors and hostile forces, they could be dealt with later.’

Han Xiaorui placed a hand on her lower back. ”I’ve been entertaining you all morning, my friend, and I’m exhausted now. If you want to go, I can call the manager over there and have them give you a tour.”

Kuno Hiroo nodded. ”Alright, I can go by myself.”

”Goodbye!” Han Xiaorui said, watching as Kuno Hiroo got into his car.

After returning home, Han Xiaorui called Mr. Wang at the K-9 base and informed him of Kuno Hiroo’s identity and purpose.

”Let Kuno Hiroo see the dogs, but don’t let him anywhere near their feed. At most, let him watch a training session for a little while. Don’t give him any other details.”

Mr. Wang agreed. ”Don’t worry, Ms. Han. Our security measures are excellent. We won’t let any secrets slip.”

In Mr. Wang’s view, the feed was the most critical component.

The puppies that ate this feed grew strong and healthy, rarely got sick, and their eyes became brighter. They even seemed to become more intelligent.

Although they hadn’t yet figured out the secret of the feed, they could all see the changes in the dogs for themselves.

After hanging up the phone, Han Xiaorui lay back in a rocking chair, swaying gently.

Wu Yao came in from the vegetable garden with a few small melons. ”Sister Xiao Rui, the melons in the garden looked ripe, so I picked a few for us to try.”

Han Xiaorui smiled and nodded. ”Wonderful! I was just craving some fresh fruit!”

After washing the skins, Wu Yao quartered the small melons, arranged the pieces on a delicate plate, and served them to Han Xiaorui.

The sweet fragrance of the small melons immediately wafted up to her.

Han Xiaorui’s mouth watered. She picked up a piece and devoured the juicy pulp in a few bites before sinking her teeth into the crisp flesh of the melon.
