The Sea Queen of 1985

Chapter 385: Chapter 385: All Body, No Heart

Han Xiaorui was stunned when she saw the pregnancy test. ”You’re pregnant?”

Xu Yingying was ecstatic. ”I was just so excited, I had to come show you and get you to confirm it for me.”

”This... Auntie, if you want to know if you’re pregnant, shouldn’t you go to the hospital?” Han Xiaorui asked, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. She wasn’t a doctor, after all.

Xu Yingying said sheepishly, ”I forgot. I just wanted to share it with you. You understand me best.”

Han Xiaorui smiled. ”Alright, then I’ll go with you to the hospital. Let’s get it checked out.”

Even though there were two lines, sometimes a hormonal imbalance could cause a false positive.

After they spoke, Wu Yao drove Han Xiaorui and Xu Yingying to the hospital.

The hospital examination confirmed she was one and a half months pregnant. Since she had just conceived and was of advanced maternal age, she needed to rest.

Coming out of the hospital, Han Xiaorui asked, ”Auntie, come on, I’ll take you home to tell Grandma. Even if she doesn’t approve of your choices, she’ll definitely be happy you’re pregnant.”

Xu Yingying nodded. ”Yes, I’m handing my work over to Ye Feng today. I need to focus on my pregnancy.”

”What about... Luo’er?” Han Xiaorui asked, but she was afraid Xu Yingying would read too much into it.

Xu Yingying smiled. ”Actually, after I saw the two lines, I called Luo’er and told him I was going on a business trip, and said goodbye.”

”And that counts as a breakup?” Han Xiaorui was astonished. ’That’s too simple, isn’t it?’

Xu Yingying raised an eyebrow. ”What else would it be? It was always just a casual affair, purely physical with no strings attached. Saying ’hey, goodbye,’ that’s the breakup. You don’t expect him to chase after me relentlessly, do you? That would be way too much trouble!”

”I wouldn’t want to see him even if he did that. After I disappear for a while, he’ll find other women—or perhaps he already has—and that will be that. The next time we meet, we’ll just be friends who are a little more than acquaintances.”

”As for the baby, I don’t plan on telling Luo’er. This is my child alone, and I can afford to raise her. Her father didn’t know about her arrival, and he won’t know in the future either.”

Seeing her aunt speak about these things so matter-of-factly and without any pressure, Han Xiaorui was completely relieved.

”Auntie, since you’ve already thought everything through, I won’t worry about you. Just rest well at home. With Grandma there to keep you company, everything will be fine.”

Xu Yingying was beaming, absolutely overjoyed. ”Haha, this is wonderful! And the baby will take my surname. Mom and Dad will be thrilled.”

”Of course they will,” Han Xiaorui laughed. ”Grandma and Grandpa even wanted my baby to take the Xu surname. But they don’t need to anymore. Auntie, your baby came at the perfect time.”

Hearing this, Xu Yingying grew a little nervous. ”Xiao Rui, don’t worry. The Xu family has a lot of assets. Let’s not have any falling out over surnames or inheritance.”

Han Xiaorui burst out laughing, completely agreeing. ”Auntie, with Ye Feng’s and my abilities, do you really think we can’t carve out our own success?”

Xu Yingying was taken aback for a moment, then she smiled. ”That’s true. The Xu family is deeply rooted in traditional industries, while Ye Feng is now investing in emerging sectors. The investments are large, but the future prospects are excellent.”

”As for your uncle... well, he’s a research fanatic right now. He has a lot of patents. But being in the United States, he also faces many restrictions. In any case, I promise you, I will never fight with Ye Feng over the Xu family’s inheritance. I’ll take whatever my parents give me.”

Han Xiaorui smiled as well. ”We feel the same way. Family is more important than money. How much money is ’a lot’? As long as we have enough, that’s all that matters. That’s Ye Feng’s and my philosophy.”

”Our current income already allows us to live very well. There’s absolutely no need to fight over money. We should have a broader perspective and higher ideals, to be the masters of our money, not its slaves.”

Xu Yingying gently hugged Han Xiaorui. ”Xiao Rui, you have such a noble soul.”

Han Xiaorui laughed. ”I wouldn’t say noble. I just feel like I’ve found the true meaning of life and know what’s important and what isn’t.”

Xu Yingying nodded. ”Yes, after everything I’ve been through, I also know that family is more important than before. We’re on the same page.”

Han Xiaorui took Xu Yingying home. When Old Madam Xu learned her daughter was pregnant, she was exasperated for a moment before becoming very happy.

”Since this is what you want, your dad and I support you. Rest well at home and don’t run around. As for the company, let your dad and Ye Feng handle it.”

”Thank you, Mom. Luo’er and I have already broken up; there’s nothing between us anymore,” Xu Yingying said. ”From now on, I’m going to focus on my pregnancy, and in the future, I’ll raise my child, work, and honor you and Dad.”

Grandma Xu smiled. ”Good!”

When Ye Feng got off work, he came straight over. ”Auntie, congratulations on getting your wish. I can handle things at work. You just focus on resting.”

”Thank you for your hard work, Ye Feng.” Xu Yingying was very happy. ’So, it seems Wen Tao and I really weren’t meant to be. Our relationship was full of scheming.’

’It’s truly wonderful to be single and still be able to have a child.’

Grandpa Xu also accepted the situation. He felt that with a child, his daughter would have someone to rely on and a purpose in the future.

When he and his wife passed away, their daughter wouldn’t be all alone.

Ye Feng was a nephew; ultimately, that couldn’t compare to one’s own child. It was good that his daughter had realized this.

At his age, he could come to terms with anything. As long as the family could be together, safe and sound, nothing else mattered.

That evening, Ye Feng went home with Han Xiaorui and Wu Yao.

”You’re pregnant yourself, yet you’re still running all over the place with my aunt.” Ye Feng’s hand rested gently on Han Xiaorui’s belly.

Han Xiaorui chuckled. ”It’s fine. I’m healthy, and I know my own body. I’m young, so the pregnancy isn’t a heavy burden. Auntie is an older mother-to-be; she can’t overexert herself.”

Ye Feng nodded. ”I can take on her work duties. I might not have as much time off in the future, but I’ll try to handle everything as quickly as possible.”

Han Xiaorui squeezed Ye Feng’s hand. ”It’s the off-season for fishing right now, so I have plenty of time. You don’t need to worry about things at home. I have Wu Jiao and Wu Yao with me. Besides, I have plenty of people at Jinshan Bay, so you don’t need to worry.”

With Han Xiaorui’s support, Ye Feng took on the main responsibilities of the Xu Group, with Mr. Xu acting in an auxiliary role.

Every day, Han Xiaorui would take Pingping and An’an to kindergarten, and then, accompanied by Wu Jiao, she would go to the police dog breeding base at Jinshan Bay.

She would check on the police dogs’ feeding, pat the puppies’ heads, and sometimes even play with them.

This terrified Mr. Wang. Even if Han Xiaorui was young and in good health, she was still a pregnant woman.

He had heard she was carrying twins and her belly was quite large. If anything happened while she was playing with the puppies, he wouldn’t be able to answer for it.

”Ms. Han, there’s really no need to get so hands-on. You can just watch from the side and let the other trainers handle it.”

Han Xiaorui took out a handkerchief to wipe the sweat from her face and said with a smile, ”I know. I walk around a lot at home, too. After spending the last half-month with them, the puppies have made a lot of progress and have grown quite a bit. I have a request.”
