The Sea Queen of 1985

Chapter 352: Chapter 352: Just How Many More Children?

Wu Cuicui was confused. ”A bad feeling? About what?”

Wu Lingling answered, ”This is the first child Yang Jianming has had over in the United States. I heard you can’t get an abortion there, so it’s highly likely there will be more in the future.”

”You’re all too kind and decent. You can’t turn a blind eye to these kids, and you certainly can’t refuse to raise them. That’s why that Yang Jianming character has no fear. He just keeps having them without any intention of raising them, knowing someone will always be there to clean up his mess.”

After hearing this, Wu Cuicui felt the air catch in her throat. She swayed on her feet, her mind going blank.

Seeing this, Han Xiaorui rushed over and dug her thumbnail into the spot right under Wu Cuicui’s nose.

”Sister Cuicui, calm down! There’s no use getting angry now. You’re just working yourself up for nothing.”

Wu Cuicui felt a sharp pain just above her lip, and the daze she was in vanished instantly.

”Oh my god, Xiao Rui, Lingling is probably right! Where’s Ziqian? He can tell fortunes, can’t he? Get him over here to calculate just how many kids Yang Jianming is going to have!”

Han Xiaorui didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. ”Sister Cuicui, how could anyone possibly know that for sure? Stop scaring yourself!”

Wu Cuicui waved her hand dismissively. ”Xiao Rui, you don’t understand. Yang Jianming is absolutely capable of something like this!”

”Ziqian is very good at fortune-telling. I’m not asking for anything complicated. If he can just figure out how many children Yang Jianming is fated to have, at least I’ll know what I’m up against.”

Wu Cuicui could see it all clearly now. ’With Yang Jianming’s slippery, irresponsible attitude, the more children he has, the more of a mess he’ll create. And in the end, I’ll be the one raising all of them.’

’Even with nannies, it would be mentally exhausting.’

Seeing her sister so anxious, Wu Lingling called over Yao Ziqian, who was outside chatting and sharing cigarettes with the neighbors.

”Yao Ziqian, can you figure out how many children a person is supposed to have in their lifetime?”

Yao Ziqian was taken aback. ”Didn’t we agree not to talk about this feudal superstition at home? Why are you asking me this now?”

Wu Lingling pointed to the baby in her sister’s arms. ”This baby is from that irresponsible Yang Jianming I told you about. The one he had someone bring back from the United States.”

”My sister is the only one left in the Yang Family to handle this. I bet if Yang Jianming has more kids, she’ll be the one stuck raising them. Instead of letting her have a breakdown every single time, why don’t you just figure out exactly how many of his children she’s going to have to raise?”

”Well...” Yao Ziqian was at a loss for words. He looked at Yang Shunshun in her stroller, then at Yang Lili in Wu Cuicui’s arms, and finally his gaze fell upon Pingping and An’an.

At this, Wu Cuicui nodded eagerly at Yao Ziqian. ”I’ll make it worth your while!”

When Yao Ziqian’s gaze shifted to Pingping and An’an, Han Xiaorui grew nervous as well.

”Yao Ziqian, is something wrong?”

Yao Ziqian raised an eyebrow. ”Sister, are you sure you want to know? This isn’t about the money. I’m just worried you won’t be able to handle it.”

Hearing this, a chill ran down Wu Cuicui’s spine. ”Judging by your tone, Yang Jianming is definitely going to have more kids!”

Yao Ziqian nodded. ”He is.”

Han Xiaorui asked curiously, ”But you haven’t seen Yang Jianming or gotten his birth chart. How can you tell?”

Yao Ziqian chuckled. ”Pingping, An’an, Shunshun, and Lili are all Yang Jianming’s children. Even though they don’t share a mother, you can still see the connection!”

”It doesn’t matter if Yang Jianming is here or not. I can tell from the faces of these four girls that they have more sisters. There should be three more!”

At this, both Han Xiaorui and Wu Cuicui were dumbfounded. ”Three more?”

Yao Ziqian nodded. ”That’s a conservative estimate. But you don’t need to worry too much. What if Yang Jianming’s new family over there is a happy one? They might just raise the children themselves.”

Wu Cuicui rolled her eyes. ”Trusting Yang Jianming to straighten up is like believing pigs can fly. I already have two of his at home, and with my own daughter, Minmin, that’s three kids already. If another three show up, I’ll have to raise six children.”

At that thought, Wu Cuicui’s world instantly went dark.

Wu Lingling looked at her sister with sympathy. ’Her brother-in-law is a good man, and with her parents-in-law gone, I thought her family life would be simple.’

’But now... it looks like she’ll have to raise five other children in the future.’

Seeing the awful look on his sister-in-law’s face, it was clear she couldn’t accept it. Yao Ziqian quickly tried to console her. ”What’s meant to be will be. And while you may be raising someone else’s kids, you aren’t under much financial pressure, so it’s actually manageable.”

”A family that performs good deeds will always be blessed. Sister, by taking care of these children, you are being a truly wonderful person. You’ll be rewarded for it. When these children grow up to be successful, just think how lively your home will be.”

”Six daughters will bring you six sons-in-law. Even if they each have only one child, that’s six grandchildren. And if each of them has two, that’s twelve grandchildren!”

”You won’t all fit at one table; you’ll have to set up several. Think how lively it will be! Sister, don’t rush, don’t be angry. Just keep a level head. Your family is well-off, there’s a kindergarten right here in the village, and a brand-new elementary and middle school just outside of it. It’s not as difficult as it seems.”

These days, parents are just responsible for the kids’ daily lives. Their education is completely up to the teachers at school. The teachers even grade all the homework, they don’t make the families do it.

Whether a child does well or not depends entirely on how they study and how the teacher teaches.

After listening to Yao Ziqian’s encouragement, Wu Cuicui’s mood lifted slightly.

”I guess you can’t just focus on the bad; you have to think about the good, too. I really never thought that after giving birth to just one daughter, I’d end up raising five of someone else’s.”

”Hey, wait a minute. How come they’re all daughters? Does Yang Jianming not have a single son? Isn’t that strange?”

Yao Ziqian scratched his nose. ”I don’t know either. I’m just reading it from the faces of these four sisters. Maybe Yang Jianming is fated to never have a son.”

Han Xiaorui slowly processed this prediction. She had witnessed Yao Ziqian’s abilities before.

’Perhaps it’s true.’

’Sometimes, the mystical arts were just that—mysterious.’

With that thought, Han Xiaorui looked over at Pingping and An’an and shook her head with a wry smile. ”Sister Cuicui, Yao Ziqian is right. Some things you just can’t refuse, so you might as well face them head-on.”

Wu Cuicui shrugged, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. ”What choice do I have? I’ll just take them as they come and do my best to give them a good education and raise them to be successful adults.”

Cursing Yang Jianming had become a daily ritual for both the Wus and the Yang Family. The things he did were just that infuriating.

But for Yang Jianming, an ocean away, his wonderful life was starting all over again. This time, it was with a congressman’s daughter, someone who could grant him an even higher social status.

’As for the children, hadn’t he already left them with trustworthy people? Whether it was his own father, or his cousin and his wife, they would all do their best to care for them.’

’As a father, he felt he had already done a pretty good job.’

If Yang Zhigang and Yang Jianguo knew about Yang Jianming’s scoundrel mentality, they would probably be apoplectic all over again.
