The Sea Queen of 1985

Chapter 372: Chapter 372: Liang Xiaoyu’s ”Good Idea

It would be one thing if those people just stayed put back home, but to actually come to Shencheng...

’Just wait. Jinshan Bay might not have much else, but it’s got plenty of seawater and islands.’

’If I secretly dump them on an island, they’ll be begging for mercy in less than three days.’

Seeing Han Xiaorui’s anger, Wu Jiao waited for her to hang up before asking anxiously, ”Sister Xiao Rui, did something happen to Xiao Jing?”

Han Xiaorui gritted her teeth. ”My parents, my younger brother, and my sister-in-law are here.”

”Huh?” Wu Jiao was stunned. ”You mean the parents who sold Xiao Jing’s college acceptance letter?”

”Yes, that’s them!” Han Xiaorui replied. ”Back then, they were even planning to marry Xiao Jing off for a high bride price. If I hadn’t found someone to help, I can’t imagine what would have happened.”

”What they did was illegal. But since they have the nerve to come here, I have ways to deal with them. I’ll solve this problem once and for all so they can’t disturb my life with Xiao Jing anymore.”

Hearing this, Wu Jiao grew nervous. ”Sister Xiao Rui, you’re not thinking of killing them, are you? Murder is a capital offense! You’re like the He Shi Jade now, a precious gem. You can’t be compared to worthless rubble.”

At this, Han Xiaorui laughed. ”Of course I’m not going to kill them. I don’t want to get tangled up in a murder case. I’m pregnant, and I have such a wonderful family now. I wouldn’t do something so crazy.”

Wu Jiao thought for a moment. ”Then what are you planning to do, Sister Xiao Rui?”

Han Xiaorui sneered. ”It’s simple. I’ll dump them on a deserted island and let them fend for themselves. I’ll scare them so they know when to back off and go home.”

Hearing this, Wu Jiao was taken aback. ”Will that really work?”

”Why not?” Han Xiaorui scoffed. ”If I show any weakness now, they’ll just take a mile. We’ll never have a moment’s peace.”

Wu Jiao thought for a moment, then nodded. ”Alright then, Sister Xiao Rui. You’re pregnant, so you should stay home. I’ll go to the school and bring them here.”

Han Xiaorui nodded with a smile. ”Okay. I’ll leave it to you, then.”

Just as she said that, Liang Xiaoyu came over, carrying a plate of snacks her mother-in-law had made for Han Xiaorui.

She happened to overhear their conversation. ”You can’t do that. You can’t keep a secret like that forever. If they end up dying on that island, it will still come back to you.”

”Besides, even if you do manage to scare them off this time, they’ll be back. People like that forget the lesson as soon as the pain is gone.”

Wu Jiao seemed even more anxious than Han Xiaorui. ”Sister-in-law Xiao Yu, we know it’s not a good idea, but we don’t have any better options. We can’t just let them keep blocking the school entrance. Xiao Jing is too scared to even leave campus. Why don’t you tell us what a better way would be?”

Liang Xiaoyu blinked. ”If you let them come to Jinshan Bay and see how rich Xiao Rui is, see this huge house, they’ll latch on and never let go, even if it kills them. And once they’re here, under the public eye, who would dare to lay a hand on scoundrels like that?”

”It won’t work within the country. But overseas, the streets are paved with gold, and plenty of people are willing to go abroad. Once they’re over there, even a dragon has to lie low. I guarantee you, they’ll be as meek as lambs.”

”There’s a guy in the next village who specializes in helping people go abroad. There are legitimate channels, for going to work overseas, but that costs a lot of money. Then there are the unofficial routes—human smuggling. If they go that way, they can forget about ever coming back.”

Han Xiaorui was taken aback by this. ”They may be awful and cunning, but they’re not stupid! Why would they believe they can just go abroad and make a fortune?”

Liang Xiaoyu blinked and smiled. ”That’s because back in the countryside, they have no idea how many people actually go abroad to work and make good money. And they really do make a lot!”

”Once they’ve been in Shencheng for a while, they’ll find out on their own! Besides, if they decide to go abroad voluntarily, what’s that got to do with you?”

Liang Xiaoyu understood better than anyone just how awful Han Xiaorui’s biological parents were.

If they had felt even an ounce of love for their daughters, they never would have done something like that.

For someone as loyal and sentimental as Han Xiaorui to despise her own parents so deeply, it was clear that they were truly inhuman.

Liang Xiaoyu had a lot of connections; her cousin was in this line of business.

Whether through legitimate channels or illegal smuggling, he sent many people abroad to work every year. Some people didn’t have enough money, so he’d even find them jobs so they could earn back the smuggling fee.

Han Xiaorui thought it over carefully. ”That is a good idea! But... as much as I wish I didn’t have parents and a brother like them, I’ve never wanted them dead.”

”No matter how you look at it, it’s illegal, and my conscience couldn’t handle it. But if we could send them abroad safely, let them work and live there so they can’t come back... that would be a good solution.”

Hearing this, Liang Xiaoyu smiled. ”You’re too kind-hearted. Don’t worry! Leave it to me!”

Han Xiaorui was astonished. ”Sister-in-law Xiao Yu, how do you have these kinds of connections?”

Liang Xiaoyu smiled. ”We’re locals. I have so many cousins! A lot of them went to work abroad through my older male cousin.”

”For regular folks like us, how many can really afford to go through the proper channels to work abroad? Most of them are smuggled across!”

”Some go to Southeast Asia, some to Japan and South Korea, some to Europe and America, and some even to Africa! Basically, it’s people who can’t make a living here or those with an adventurous spirit who want to go out and try their luck.”

Han Xiaorui nodded. ”Sister-in-law Xiao Yu, I know you’re always very reliable. I’ll leave this in your hands, then. Just tell me how much it costs, and I’ll pay for it.”

”The bottom line is, Xiao Jing and I don’t want to see them. Not ever again in this lifetime! Those people have absolutely no remorse. All they think about is how to bleed us dry.”

”If it were just about money, it would be easy to solve. But sometimes, it feels like they even want us dead. They act like we two daughters were born just to be sacrificed for their son.”

”With the help of our teachers and the school, we barely managed to crawl out of that mire of a family. I will not allow them to drag us back in now.”

”I’m married now and have my own career, so I’m not afraid of their harassment. But their constant pestering, their way of twisting the truth and causing a scene—it still has a huge impact on me.”

”And then there’s Xiao Jing. She has a gentle personality and is very quiet. She has no way of dealing with their pestering. They’ve already hurt her twice. If there’s a third time, she might not be so lucky.”

Liang Xiaoyu gritted her teeth, unable to comprehend it. ”How can there be parents like that in this world? A son is their child, but a daughter isn’t?”

”Look at us here in Shencheng. When a daughter marries out, the son inherits the family business, and it’s the son’s responsibility to care for the parents in their old age. We raise sons and daughters the same. If they’re good at studying, we push them to go as far as they can. If they’re not, we still try our best to find them a job.”

”If they really can’t get a job, that’s fine too. We find them a suitable family to marry into, give them a dowry, and their own family continues to support them. Their lives with their in-laws aren’t difficult.”

”As a married daughter, if I have money and I’m willing to give it, I’ll contribute to supporting my parents. If I don’t have money or I’m not willing to give it, then I just have to help out physically!”

”All the siblings help each other out—those with money contribute money, those with time contribute effort—to support their parents. I thought all families were like this. Xiao Rui, what you’ve told me about your family has really been an eye-opener.”
