The Sea Queen of 1985

Chapter 239: Chapter 239: A Loan with No Return

All eyes turned to Yang Minmin, who was holding a chicken leg, her little mouth glistening with oil.

”You have a clue?” Yang Jianguo didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Seeing his daughter like this, his heart melted.

Yang Minmin answered, ”The person in the mask just now made me record something. He made me cry and yell ’Daddy, save me.’ He’s probably kidnapping me for money. That’s how it is on TV.”

”That person is a heavy smoker. Even with a mask on, I could smell the strong scent of smoke. Also, the little finger on his right hand, the one holding the recorder, is missing a section.”

Han Xiaorui praised her, ”Minmin, you’re amazing. Did you leave those hair clips and shoes behind on purpose?”

Yang Minmin nodded, her big eyes round and exceptionally clever. ”Yes. My teacher said to stay calm when something happens. My mouth was covered, so I couldn’t shout. I took the chance to throw a hair clip while my hands were still free.”

”After my hands and feet were tied, I couldn’t take out any more hair clips, so I rubbed my head against a cardboard box to leave another one. It pulled out a few strands of hair and really hurt...”

Everyone was stunned. This was even more astonishing than the fact that Yang Minmin had been kidnapped.

This daughter of Yang Jianguo’s was too shrewd.

”Brother Jianguo, Uncle Yang, you two go with the police to catch the guy. I’ll take Minmin home first. Sister Cuicui is at home, and she’s very worried.”

Han Xiaorui’s words brought everyone back to their senses.

Yang Jianguo nodded repeatedly. ”Right, right. Uncle, you go back with Xiao Rui too. I’ll cooperate with the police investigation and try to find that kidnapper as soon as possible.”

Yang Zhigang thought for a moment and nodded. ”Alright, I’ll head back first. I’ll leave things out here to you. Catch that bastard soon.”

With the clues previously provided by Lin Yongfu, the police should be able to catch the mastermind behind the kidnapping quickly.

Han Xiaorui drove her small motorcycle with Yang Minmin on the back.

As for Dahuang, he had been borrowed by Officer Li.

Fortunately, Yang Jianguo was holding him back, so Dahuang didn’t follow.

Meanwhile, Wu Cuicui was at home, unable to sit still. Grandma Wu and Grandpa Wu were pacing around like ants on a hot pan.

The child, Yang Shunshun, was asleep, but not peacefully.

Suddenly, the phone rang.

”I have Yang Minmin. Tell Yang Jianguo to prepare the ornamental fish farming techniques and the feed formula. Deliver them to the trash can at the entrance of Meihua Park at ten tomorrow morning.”

Wu Cuicui was so scared she trembled, stammering, ”Wh-where’s my daughter?”

The person on the other end played Yang Minmin’s recording directly.

Wu Cuicui’s heart ached so much she was about to cry. To buy the police more time to search, she quickly pleaded, ”Okay, I’ll agree to anything, but please don’t hurt my daughter.”

”Remember, ten o’clock tomorrow at the trash can by the entrance of Meihua Park. If we don’t get it, you’ll never see your daughter again in this lifetime.”

With that, the call was disconnected.

Wu Cuicui covered her mouth, not daring to cry out loud, afraid of scaring her parents.

Her daughter was in trouble; if something happened to her parents too, she wouldn’t be able to go on.

Grandma Wu and Grandpa Wu asked anxiously, ”Was that the kidnapper on the phone?”

Wu Cuicui nodded, choking back sobs. ”Yes, they have Minmin. They want us to provide the ornamental fish farming techniques and the feed formula.”

Grandpa Wu froze, then slapped his thigh in anger. ”The ornamental fish farm is just too profitable, making people jealous. That bad seed, Lin Yongfu, actually colluded with outsiders to frame people from our own village.”

”We’re lucky this is a society ruled by law. Otherwise, someone like that would be stuffed in a pig cage and drowned in a pond to warn others.”

Grandma Wu gave her husband a push. ”What’s the use of saying that now? Hurry up and call Jianguo back. Get the things ready. We’ll go ransom her tomorrow.”

Grandpa Wu wanted to say that those things didn’t belong to Yang Jianguo, but to Han Xiaorui, so he couldn’t make that decision. But he was also worried about his granddaughter.

Just then, there was a sound at the door.

Yang Minmin jumped off the small motorcycle. ”Mommy, Mommy.”

Wu Cuicui thought she had misheard. ”Minmin? Mom, Dad, I heard Minmin’s voice.”

The two elders heard it too and whipped their heads around.

They saw Yang Minmin push the door open—their lively child was back.

”Minmin!” Wu Cuicui lunged forward, hugging her daughter tightly and wailing.

Grandma Wu and Grandpa Wu also kept wiping their tears.

In this life, one’s greatest worry is always their children.

If something happened to a child, you’d probably never rest easy until the day you closed your eyes for good.

Yang Minmin wiped her mother’s tears. ”Mommy, Grandma, Grandpa, don’t cry. I’m safe. The police officers and Daddy are off to catch the bad guys.”

Hearing this, Wu Cuicui finally remembered. ”Uncle, someone just called. They told us to put the ornamental fish farming techniques and feed formula in the trash can at the entrance of Meihua Park at ten tomorrow morning, then they hung up.”

Yang Zhigang was taken aback. ”I’ll tell the police. Cuicui, get Minmin cleaned up and comfort her. Brother Wu, Sister-in-law Wu, please stay here today and help watch the house.”

”Xiao Rui, we owe you and Dahuang a great deal for today. Once this is all over, Jianguo and I will be sure to thank you properly. If it weren’t for you and Dahuang, Minmin wouldn’t have been found so quickly.”

Han Xiaorui smiled and replied humbly, ”Uncle Yang, isn’t this what I should do? Why be such a stranger? If something happened to Pingping and An’an, would Brother Jianguo and Sister Cuicui just stand by and watch?”

”It’s good that Minmin is back. We’ll leave the rest to the police. Later, we’ll need you to step up for the village. After all, as we get richer, people will get jealous. If they start kidnapping our kids, wouldn’t that be chaos?”

Yang Zhigang gritted his teeth, his eyes filled with cold, hateful resentment. ”Xiao Rui, don’t worry. I have a plan for this. The methods might get a little dirty, so you stay out of it.”

Han Xiaorui nodded. ”I understand, Uncle Yang. Minmin was amazing and brave today. Get some rest. I’ll take you guys to the amusement park this weekend.”

Yang Minmin nodded. ”Okay, Auntie Xiao Rui, thank you. You should hurry back. Pingping and An’an will cry when they wake up.”

Wu Cuicui gripped Han Xiaorui’s hand tightly. ”From this day on, Xiao Rui, you’re my own sister.”

”Alright, I’ll remember that,” Han Xiaorui said with a smile, pushing her motorcycle toward home.

Wu Jiao had been inside the whole time, watching the two children without leaving their side for a moment.

Wu Yao was pacing back and forth in the courtyard. The moment she heard a noise, she would run to the rooftop to look out.

Hearing the sound of the small motorcycle, she knew Han Xiaorui had arrived. ”Sister Xiao Rui, did they find Minmin?”

”We found her.”

”Where’s Dahuang?” Wu Yao asked anxiously, thinking something had happened to him.

Wu Yao was usually the one who fed and trained the dogs; she was especially fond of them.

Han Xiaorui smiled. ”Dahuang was amazing. Thanks to him, we were able to find Minmin so quickly. Now they still need to find the kidnapper, so Officer Li borrowed Dahuang.”

Wu Yao’s eyes filled with worry and unease. ”Sister Xiao Rui, Dahuang is amazing. Aren’t you afraid Officer Li will be like Liu Bei borrowing Jingzhou—taking something with no intention of returning it?”

”Huh?” Han Xiaorui was stunned. ”He wouldn’t, would he?”

Wu Yao gave a wry smile. ”Why not? Sister Xiao Rui, you saw how incredible Dahuang is today. I spend a lot of time with Dahuang and Heizi, so I know just how sensitive their noses are.”

Han Xiaorui still didn’t believe it. But the next day, after Luo Guang was caught, Dahuang still hadn’t come back. She realized things were not good!
